So you're looking for contact with your fellow world 2 designers. My level(2-5) is pretty much done, except for some little details and the secret route, although the layout of the secret path is confirmed.

IPS file:2-5 .
Perhaps you could help naming the level? Canopy clash is a mistake. I used it, not knowing it was used already.

*Level Name Pending*

About time I gave an update on this, don't you think?
So, lately the reason why I've not shown anything is because I've mainly been making plans on pieces of paper. Right now, I have (and counted) 13 sheets of level plans. Obviously their not all going to be used since that would make the level WAY way too long, and I think S.N.N. has stated enough that he does NOT want long levels. So I have to decide on about 3-4 plans to use and piece together nicely.

Now with that reason-giving out of the way, I have actually done some progress in Lunar Magic. However not much, mainly due to that I've had to piece together the MAP16. So here is the progress (along with drawing of that first part):

So there you have what progress I've made in the past...uhh, 16 Days is it now? Eh.
Comments would be very much appreciated, also looking is also nice too. =P

(NOTE: The graphics are subject to chance if clashes occur.)

Nice drawing, the level design is nice too, but the dark palette in the ground is weird, can you fix that please.

Also, do you get some gimmick in mind for this level?

Yeah, i see your point with the palette and it being dark. It actually works better for the original SMW Graphics, but because of the Graphics redrawn, it looks dark. I'll fix that in due time.

To be honest, no. I can't really think of one because as it states this is a generic Forest level. I'm sure i'll think of something along the way though.

Levels don't necessarily need a gimmick to be fun, of course (or at least, not something major). As long as you do something in your level that makes it stand out in its own way - without being tedious, of course - then I'm sure it'll turn out just fine.
Eh, it's nice to see some progress in different levels. It looks pretty good. The way you're using the background and some foreground elements make it look slightly like a vanilla resource contest entry.

Also I agree that a gimmick isn't a must for all levels. Don't force anything just for the sake of having something.

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

Do you think you can use the more detailed tree leaves that WYE made for his treehouse set for this level? Using vanilla leaves with the current ground seems rather odd.

Not all levels need a gimmick. In fact, some are better off without one.

The ocean bg has the same color as the water fg. Maybe a pallate change could help.
I was just asking if he had one in mind, besides, a unique feature is a plus to a level, but simple fun plataforming is fine.

(Hopefully I'll try to be more active after this post, Fast-tracking GCSE's is not fun)

As The deadline to my level will most likely be sometime in the end of June, I have been working quite a bunch over my breaks. Anyway, This level will not have a gimmick, simple platforming is good to have in-between other levels, so I think this level will be for that purpose.

I hope to get my level completely finished around at most 20th June, considering i'm nearly there. Its been exceptionally hard for me to do sufficient work since the PC is use Lunar Magic for seems to not like Zsnes, or for that matter any other emulators, so I've been using my brothers laptop for testing (which is often annoying).
Now i think is about time i showed some progress, so i think a video shall do instead of screen shots, considering they cover more of the level in both looks and function:

Once again comments are much appreciated and looking is also fine. Thanks.

I'm happy to see you didn't decide to drop out like some other people who got my "warning" PM. I'm also quite happy to see you've made some decent progress here.

As a whole, the level is simple, but nice and atmospheric. Given the nature of what I'm seeing so far, I actually think we might switch your level and the first one in the world, since yours seems like more of an "introduction". I'd be interested in playing it once you have an IPS ready so I (and others) can judge the difficulty and design accordingly.

Keep it up.
The level looks very...awesome!
I like the feel of it and the vanilla stuff used, such as the water in the BG and the Forest tress go very nice together.

Only thing I think could be better is the BG waters pallette.
Instead of making the bottom colour black, it could be a dark blue, so the colours transition better.

:3

I'm liking the progress so far, everything seems to fit pretty well. Good job and can't wait to see the finished product.
Layout by LDA during C3.
You have a unique architectural style here which makes the level feel very atmospheric and fitting for World 2. I'm kind of wishing you'd use a bit more sprite variety beyond all the slow-walking, ground-level enemies, though. Also, can't you just jump right to access that door?

The level's looking pretty good so far, in any case, and I appreciate the progress update.

I really like what I see. The level looks simple, yet fun, and the decorations give a unique feel to this level.

In case you don't have any level names yet, I've got a few...

Wild Woodlands
Goomba Grove
Outdoors Outback
Fringe Forest

Just throwing a few ideas out there.
Mario's Vanilla Journey

Progress: 22/72 levels complete
I believe I am just scrapping the deadline, but then again I had to design the level twice due to my External Hard-drive corruption. I've put in alot of effort to try and recover the level and make it bettter with everything functional. I have currently 2 people test it, so most major buys will have been ironed out...well, at-least I'm getting this in before the deadline.

It seems like you didn't read (or didn't remember) this - more specifically:

2. Include THREE (3) SMWC coins in your level
Every single level claimed MUST have three of these coins strategically placed. These are the collectible items of this hack. They should not be EXTREMELY hidden, but they should still be a little out of the way. If you have a world 1 level, they should be extremely easy to find, but if you have, say, a world 7 level, they should be quite a bit harder. Nonetheless, do NOT put them in overly ridiculous locations.

Your level is a pretty nice little romp, so I don't think it'll be too difficult to put these in it somewhere. I don't have any major complaints about the level itself. Typically, I'd almost be against this kind of level since .. well, it's ultimately a "generic" approach when there are several more options for creative design at your disposal, but out of the 20-30 completed levels or so, yours is the only one that was made in this kind of style. I'd say it's acceptable once you get those SMWC/four blue coins in and dealt with.
Having that preview vid is nice, but we would want a IPS too. I want to test it myself.
