I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

If you have an update or something to show that indicates that you've made progress on your level, post it.

No clue where to post this, so I'll just put this here. A note to any level designers who want to put KooPhD in their levels: I recently made an update that allows it to dynamically choose its tilemap; if the extra bit of the sprite is set both it and its potions load their tiles from RAM instead of ROM. It requires 8 16x16 tiles, so if you can set aside that many you should be fine. Why am I posting this here? Because I don't know when the base ROM will be updated next and I feel it's important for any level designers to know this as soon as possible. This way they don't end up going "aw man, I wish I had known I could do this so I could use X sprite with KooPhD" or something similar. Assuming I get the go-ahead from S.N.N. I'll do the same with other custom sprites as well.

So yeah. Go crazy and whatnot.
I should get a new layout.

Probably won't, though.

That could actually be really neat, especially if we do it without words. Something similar in each world but with different mechanized parts would emphasize the story, but not bore players with loads of dialogue.

I like it, but do others?
Looks good to me.
I like it. Let's see how creative we can be with the Luigi gags ^_^
(sorry Luigi)

I agree it'd probably be better without words.

Ehh, did you play the last game? [Y] He completely deserves it.

(Incidentally, the above gag is very much in line with the slippery controls usually given to Luigi whenever he is to be distinguished from Mario playing-wise...perhaps there are some other aspects that might be mined as well...?)
I like the idea, and this little "showoff" of the new world would be really nice. I'm interested how Luigi's bloopers will turn out.
You know, we could start a whole new thread for everyone to post their 'Luigi gag' ideas.
The best (and most convenient for SNES) ones can be put into the game!

...or we could just leave it up to the writer alone.

I know you want to make a snide comment about this, leod. C'mon, I'm waiting...
Check out my music!

About what? This cutscene thing? If I wanted to, I would have made one already, hours ago.
And what does snide even mean?
Your layout has been removed.

Maybe we should do one where he overshoots a jump (due to his high jumping, or his flutter jumping) and hits a wall or falls in a trashcan or something. Maybe instead of just luigi, in a later world something bad happens to Bowser instead (or better yet, Luigi waits for something bad to happen, and is relieved that nothing happens, only for Bowser to fall unto him).

I really like the cutscene thing. If I recall, I was one of the earlier ones to mention it in the forums. Are we still going to do factory destruction scenes or not? We could fit in even more luigi gags, I guess
I've realized this was outdated.
This may seem like an obvious question, but just asking to clarify-- these cutscenes will be skippable and/or only appear the first time you enter the level, right?

Hopefully. The ones in SMWCP were skippable, but it would still be better if these were a one-time thing.
Personally I'd like them to trigger just as you're about to switch submaps after beating a castle (i.e. instead of fading to the next submap, you fade to the cutscene, then fade to the next submap.); I think it would make for a pretty neat effect.

And I'm glad that so many people like the idea. I do have some ideas for several of the worlds, but I'm still open to suggestions (like the oriental world, for example; no idea what to do there.)
I should get a new layout.

Probably won't, though.
I need a name for my level, with either the word "treehouse" or "canopy". Please don't come up with stuff like "treehouse trouble" or "cracky canopy". For more information and an ips file, visit the level thread.

The cutscene idea is really great. Reminds me of kirby 3 if anything.
Violators will be prosecutedt to the full extent of the jam.

It appears that Foop's having some dire computer problems that could cause him to lose all of his work on his Krypto Moon hack and the GFX he made for SMWCP2. So I went ahead and tried to salvage some of the SMWCP2 stuff; starting with painstakingly C/Ping Mario's graphics (from the most recent pic he posted), recoloring them properly and testing each one out. I'm about 2/3 done with that before I move onto Yoshi and then his FG/BG stuff. Well maybe not his NSMBW-styled hills BG, that looks like hell.

On a related note, I think his Mario uses only 15 colors (14 normal + transparency)

Does anyone know how to create this?

I know I'd sort of like to have world intro scenes in my own hack (some kind of combination of the Paper Mario chapter name screens and the SMB3 credits images, probably), but I sort of dismissed the idea as something that I wasn't sure was feasible...

Wouldn't it be awesome if it could have graphics just drawn by hand instead of ripping graphics from another game?

Have you been paying ANY attention to this hack's discussion?
