SMW Custom Levels - Memories?

This isn't a "how did you find out about Lunar Magic" sort of thread. This thread has a different idea in mind, and the idea is, after playing SMW when you were younger, did you ever dream up custom levels? What were your ideas behind them? Did your eventual find of Lunar Magic make some of them real?

I had some ideas back then, mostly graphical combinations and such, but fascinations with rare things. One of the things I wanted was to see, ironically enough, more munchers (of course, eventually that was spoiled xD But come on, I was only 8 at the time xP (I'm almost 17 now) ). Then, there was an idea of a blue-grey palette for a forest level, inspired by Outrageous. There were forest FG levels with the Yoshi's Island 1 hills for the background. There were castles with the Starry BG, and more ice levels. Either way, I didn't use any of these ideas when I started hacking, as I was more interested in Chocolate hacking than vanilla hacking.
Don't know if it counts, but i always wanted to get to that there.

Spent days trying to search a secret exit that leads to that islands D:

... Why the first level of like every hack has a shooting pipe.
I remember when I played the first then the second demo of Super Mario Odyssey (it was the first hack I've ever played beside some very old n00b hacks), I was utterly amazed what I saw. Especially the modern space area and the tree villages were very inspirational for me, I wanted to do something like that so badly. But there was no way for me to do that back then, since I've just heard about that "Lunar Magic thing". When I first opened Lunar Magic I didn't even have an idea what to do, my very first custom "level" crashed. Then I decided to read tutorials and learn making levels decently.
I used to make levels in Super Mario Flash. After seeing a related video on youtube I became interested in SMW hacking. Over the past two years I say Ive definatly came around as a decent hacker, compared to when I started....
I actually did have quite a few thoughts about making SMW levels in the past. It was frustrating to see areas like the pool on the left side of Yoshi's Island and the blank level slot in the Forest of Illusion, so I would imagine filling in the space with levels. Having an actual water or forest level there... that was an idea for the first hack I made, by the way.
See I always used to draw the levels I wanted to make when I was 3 (This was back in 2000 which I believe is when Lunar Magic was released)
And I always had the silliest ideas, UNTIL I made my first level 2 years ago... and ever since then I have been gettin better
hehe, funny story about that first hack too...it actually wasn't bad
Living life takes forever
I remember back in summer 2002 I was dreaming up custom levels for Super Mario World, but it was based off the GBA port because that was what I was more familiar with. I even made up my own imaginary game (hadn't even heard of Lunar Magic yet, or even ROM hacking. Not until 2006). I would draw custom levels on my Magna Doodle, many of which would have been considered unfair or even Kaizo. It was supposed to be a 'lost levels' version of SMW. A couple of those ideas eventually made it in my Kaizo hacks. I had had this idea for a ghost house where in one part there's a moving hole on the floor where you stand and you have to fly up in the air, fall through the hole, and fly under the level until a certain point.

I've always wanted to make a super mario game.

Serenity Fortress

This was my favourite SMW level ever the first 6 months of my SMW hacking "career". I loved the level, and how long and hard it was. I tried lots of times to make something like it, and eventually I succeeded. I wish I still had that ROM, with 3 worlds of pure mindfuck and lol blatant level edits...

Good times, good times. I think SMW hacking was even more fun back then, when I didn't have to care about cutoff and such, just making up stuff. :P
aran - Graces of Heaven
Heh, I remember when I started out, I didn't even know how to place blocks, or how to shrink or expand blocks, it was a mess, and when I finally did learn these things, my first level was so cheap and jam packed with enemies that it crashed in the emulator.

My cousin lived with us for a couple of years and she had an SNES that was super old, but still worked. The only game she owned was SMW and that is all we played, all the time. I always dreamed of a kindof SMW level pack coming out but of course it never happened. A couple of years later, I started watching Protonjon's videos and became super excited about these new levels. That is when I started to research and figured out that there was an entire SMW hacking community making what I had wanted all along, awesome hacks!

The only REAL memories I had from my first hack was that chainfire9001 let's played it, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the hack being played and saw a few of the comments and tried to make a better hack. And with constant restarting of hacks I became more adept in level design and other important skills in hacking... (SMWC is in there somewhere too)
REMOVED
I've always wanted to make my own levels as a kid, so I would draw them on a sheet of paper. Later on (in 2006, specifically), my interest in making levels grew again, and I wanted something more authentic looking. So, I would make my own levels on paint, and upload them on Deviantart (sadly, they were deleted from DA by moderators, except for two overworlds and two backgrounds, and I don't have the original pictures anymore). When I wanted to put something in a level that I didn't have, I went and searched for sprites online. One day, I came across Acmlm's Board, and grew interested in hacking. A mere five years later of hacking, re-hacking, and polishing, and the original dream has finally been realized.

You know, there's something kind of heartwarming about this; so many people coming together for one hobby, with so many of their own back-stories.

Other Submissions of mine!
Since at least 2004, yes. But not SMW levels, actually - SMAS levels, or even more specifically SMAS SMB3, though some SMAS SMB2 elements were in there too. I thought up several desert levels, underground levels, mainstream levels and water levels, and even some un-SMAS-like pseudo-3D sections (though back then I obviously didn't refer to them like that).

I even made enemy ideas, like Mad Block. It's a blue steel block in SMB3, that is the most common block in fortresses. It jumps around much like a Thwimp would, but there are also versions that only go vertically or horizontally. If you stand on it or touch it from the side, you won't be hurt, but if it crushes you, you will die instantly, no matter the power-up.

I also thought up several new versions of Goomba, and more, but I mostly forgot those. I had these ideas running until I got a Windows Vista (instead of my old Windows 98) in September 2007. That is when I actually wanted to put my ideas to execution. I had tried before with Game Maker, but back then I didn't really get the hang of it too much.
--------> Don't follow "Find Roy's Dignity", my hack. Because it's pretty outdated. <--------
First of all, here are some of my very old drawings of level design, Check it out=)

Also, I remeber the first time I saw a custom mario level, it was on youtube and was of SMB1. I was stunned and checked out the related videos where I found a SMW level. I then found out about lunar magic and later came here.

I remeber the great feeling I had playing Super Mario Oddesy, it was just outstanding. Its really not often I feel so emotional while playing games as I was back then. Heh, okay I cryed when I was with my whole family finishing SMB3 on NES at the age of 5, those days.

Okay, I'm already out off-topicing, just be sure to check that link I gave you first.
Back when I was really young and started playing SMW, I used to draw out my own levels for the game. I don't have them anymore, but I distinctly remember one level with a pipe that lead to a cave area, entirely on a slope, with a ! switch in it.

I used to imagine full levels of numerous games in my head whenever I was bored in school, including SMB1-3, SMW, and YI. One of the levels I imagined in my head actually made it to my first YI hack, SMW2+, years later (the second level, "BE CAREFUL!!!", to be specific). It wasn't exactly how I first thought it out, but pretty damn similar.
Not so much SMW, but when I was younger, I used to think up of my own levels for Yoshi's Island. I remember always wanting to make them a reality.Free counters!
My dream space was taken up by Super Mario Bros. 3 level ideas.
When I was around 5 years old, I remember drawing SMW levels. Looking back on them, I realize how much they sucked, but they seemed so cool at the time :P
Currently working on a website that lists Minecraft Servers... if you have any suggestions for my Minecraft server list, let me know.
I used to make SMW levels in the paint programme that came with my windows 95, good times...
