Ok so here is my first contest.

The Variety Level Design Contest: Basically you make a level, vanilla, Chocolate, both.
The level can be based on things like: Making it a fast level, fun level, Coming back for more level.
You can do anything.

Rules:
Level length between 3 to 5 lunar magic levels. You probably don't want huge levels or tiny levels.
Since it is called the "Variety" level design contest there could be a requirement that each section introduce a new style. Take off points if the level is the same throughout.
The score for "level possible to complete" is not needed imo. If
the level isn't possible to beat it should be disqualified. Not really hard to make a beatable level.
Overworld, intro, title screen shouldn't be graded
Ensure contestants use the file bin to upload their level, not a wait to download site (like rapidshare)
Maybe you could allow people to team up like in the chocolate contest

Length
10/10
(Not too long, not too short)

Variety
10/10

(How different is each section from the last, does the level still
flow properly and keep one main theme?)

functionality
10/10
(Slowdown, glitchs and those sorts of terms will get judged but if they are bad then well I will porbably take points off or rate it low! Be careful!)

(Make sure the level is enjoyable and doesn't become boring)

Difficulty
10/10

(Does the level consist of simple jumps and laughable enemies? Does
it go into kaizo difficulty and require slowdown and savestates? Both of these would receive a low rating. A good difficulty level challenges you enough that you have fun but not so much that you get frustuated)

Overall
10/10

(The level overall)

Total
50/50

Submissions (named from Ips)
-----------
Glitch.Mr - contententer

Yoshifanatic - Yoshi's entery for Courptendo's contest

Sockbat Replica - SockbatReplicaVariety

Hmm, I might actually enter this. It doesn't sound too bad.

There are some things you might want to add though:
- How the scoring will work
- A deadline for submissions

Also, a limit on the amount of contestants? I don't really see why you're doing that.

Edit: Also, the title says Variety level design contest, but how is this different from a normal one? What will cause said variety?

Variety as in trying to make a different kind of level.
I will change the max of submissions.

You might wanna change "possible to complete" to "/1" since you can't half complete a level. If that makes sense...(?)

It means you can get up to 10 points for it being completable. Only giving one point would be... bleh.

I get where your coming from, but if it's not complete-able then it would be 0. So then you just get 10 points out of nowhere for just being able to beat it... Maybe it's a good way to avoid disqualifications in this contest but at the same time sounds odd. Ah well it was just a sugestion.

This sounds exactly like the chocolate contest.

Also, length !> fun.
I gotta agree, this does sound exactly like the choco contest. What's different about it from that contest?
OK, entry made in 10 minutes, because I don't believe there won't be serious rewards anyway (or anybody would judge this anyway).

The Entry ;)
The contest is sort of like the chocolate contest but you have a level and try to make it a bit different from a casual SMW level.
I will show an example and post a video if you still are confused.

I guess I can offer a few suggestion for rules:

  • Level length between 3 to 5 lunar magic levels. You probably don't want huge levels or tiny levels.
  • Since it is called the "Variety" level design contest there could be a requirement that each section introduce a new style. Take off points if the level is the same throughout.

  • Overworld, intro, title screen shouldn't be graded
  • Ensure contestants use the file bin to upload their level, not a wait to download site (like rapidshare)
  • Maybe you could allow people to team up like in the chocolate contest

My suggested scoring style:

Length
10/10
(Not too long, not too short)

Variety
10/10

(How different is each section from the last, does the level still
