The Big Boo's Legion 2

Standard

My computer has that track listed as "Adventure of the Lovestruck Tomboy," but I don't think it really matters. >_>

Anywho, amazing work on the new level. Looks amazing.
Well uh, I posted some new pictures of the hack in the screenshots/videos thread (I couldn't resist it, but hey, I don't think it's a big problem), so I guess it would be a wise idea to post them here too! :D
Look:

The Sky Palace

This level is ~60 % done, I don't want to tell too much about it, I think it's enough if I say it's the end of a long secret passage.

And a single picture from the earlier level...

(drummers and fire are ExAnimated, NPCs from Chrono Trigger, fire from Final Fantasy VI)

I hope you like it. :D Comments are appreciated.
Awesome graphics as always; their "dark" style are very fitting. ExAnimation can make things even more realistic, and your usage doesn't seem to be different.
Now I need to change my old avatar. Or not.
Thanks a lot for this compliment, Dangus. I know, it's not a big update (I don't really like to post small updates actually...), but since I posted these in the SS/video thread, I thought it would be okay here too.

Also, after seeing and understanding BMF's new SMO demo, I decided to make 2 versions of my hack, when all of the levels are done.
The first one (I'll submit this to the site, most likely) will contain ports that are inserted with Romi's Addmusic (+Carol's MORE.bin).
The second one (I'll just upload that to my site, probably) will contain big wav musics, so it will take a lot of larger space. I might use songs like this in that version, but you'll need bsnes and a stronger PC for that.
So the first version will be for those who like "classical" ports better, don't want to download big files or can't use bsnes. The second version will be for those who don't mind on the bigger filesize, can use bsnes, and like to listen to more epic, more realistic music in hacks.

So yeah. This is a big step in this hack's life, but this is the best choice, in my opinion. The whole hack is ~55% done, so stay tuned!
That level looks very dark and mysterious, Hadron. I love everything about it, especially the Chrono Trigger NPCs (the game I grew up with). Although, that one breakable block doesn't match with the palette of the level, but that doesn't matter...

That sounds like a great idea! *shot* But, yeah, I really like the idea of separate hacks for realistic and classic. I would have to sadly download the classic version, as I don't use bsnes.

Overall the hack is coming along very nicely, and I hope you keep up the good work! Also, before I forget...

Good luck with whatever you're doing next! #w{=D}
You gave the level a dark and ominous feel, great work! What music goes with the level?The Game
You just lost.
LPY: thanks! I'm glad you like my idea. It'll take a while, but I like doing it, after all! And thanks for noticing, I fixed the palette of the brick.
LuigiYoshi: thank you. I use Sky Palace from the Bowser Strikes Back soundtrack (made by Jimmy52905, you can find it in the Music section).

Hmm, for some reason ImageShack gives me a 404 when I try to view the last picture, so I reuploaded it, here it is (since I can't edit posts).

Cool looking village. I like how the villagers' speech is very fitting.
Is that a one screen level, if it is don't forget about screen exit sprite.The Game
You just lost.
*sweeps off dust*

So, hello again. It's been a long time~

Instead of writing pages about what did I do instead of continuing The Big Boo's Legion 2, I'll show you a few promising screenshots.

Basically I'm rebuilding the levels, these are the reasons:
1. LM 1.8, Map16 tiles using as objects -> more space
2. make them MUCH better.
Therefore, I won't make brand new levels for a while, I guess.

So here are a few examples what I've already done (some of them were already shown in the screenshot/video thread):

(still needs layer 3 to be inserted)

So, that's it for now. Hope you guys like the pictures, comments are really appreciated. As I said, I won't do new levels for a while, but you can expect stuff like this in the near future.

YES! I'm so happy to hear you're working on this again!

All the screens look realy, realy good. Much better then before. Way smoother too.
Good luck with your project, Hadron!

Edit: 1300!
Ah, nice to see this being worked on again.

The screens look great and the improved versions look much better than before.

Keep up the good work on this project! #w{=3}
Ah, so you weren't lying in your PM, to think for a second I believed you had stopped working on this...

Nevertheless, I must say, everything looks twice as better as it was before (which is extremely hard to believe considering how amazing it already was). I especially like the screen-shot with the tree, that one is absolutely astounding.

Like normal, Hadron, you never cease to amaze me. #w{=D}
Pretty nice looking levels. I like how you went back and improved them, they look a lot better than before, especially the bright red cave. I've personally never been fond of that desert BG, I always thought it looked really sloppy. I'd try a different desert BG.
Thanks guys for the nice comments. I'm so glad you like these improvements, just like me. :)

@LPY: as I already told you, I'll finish this hack for sure, it just needs a lot of time (how much, I can't even think on it...). So, don't worry, there won't be any cancellations. :)

Good point, and I've actually searched for a better background before I updated the thread. I think I could find one, but not sure yet. Thanks for the comment, by the way!

Also, I've got another level done today, with a lot of fixing and optimization. So the progress is going very well now! :)
Looks great, Hadron! I like all the custom stuff you've added into it, it's like you've made a completely new game! #w{=D}Free counters!
Thanks Jeorge. #w{=)}

Also hurray, I got another level fixed+extended:

(HDMA gradient is beta)

Just dropping this here to show some recent progress. And I just started rebuilding another level now.
Cool, the updated level looks much nicer. The BG palette and FG choice are a lot better. Good job!

The pallete is also way smoother. Keep up the great updates!
Thanks again guys for the comments!

Hope this doesn't start to be boring. Here are some level updates again.

(palette may change, I haven't really decided it yet...)

After:

(yeah, not too much, basically just changing the BG + optimizing the tiles)

I have a few other levels done as well, but they aren't big changes at all.
So, that's it for today. Thanks for all the comments in advance. #w{=)}

edit: and with this post, the 10th page of this thread started! Yay. :D
