Overworld Planning: Phase II (Proposition: Page 9)

Maybe a dark cave world .
I personally see an Oriental World being nothing more than a re-skinned Grass World. Yes, I understand the whole "think outside the box" concept, but even still, it's nothing more than a Grass World.

As far as an Underwater World, I've yet to see such a world get pulled off decently, and for ASMWCP to have made it so late in the game was a ridiculous move in my opinion. As Lynnes has suggested, water levels work best when they are spread throughout the whole of the game, making them feel more interesting when you come across them. However a desert/ruins/coral reef mix for a world could be very interesting indeed and holds enough potential to alleviate that feeling of "oh god, another water level!"
I thought we were going for a haunted swamp world rather than a haunted fair due to restrictions in creativity.
If we design the desert/ruins/coral reef on the main map, we could have part of it a desert, part of it a beach, and then part of it in the water. It could be a neat transitioning effect which would include all of the themes.

Hmm, how about this:

1: Grass/Flower/Industrial Hybrid
2: Fairgrounds (includes graveyard)
3: Coral/Crystal Caverns
4: Sky/Blimps/Angel Floating Islands/etc
5: Space/Station/Moon OR Fire/Ice (or both?)
6: Swampy Temple Ruins
7: Oriental Landscape
8: Salt Factory
9: Dream/Abstract

Ghost levels are limited, the water levels are spread out, the oriental map involves different locales (e.g. bamboo forest), and crazy levels can go in the bonus section.

i said , a mario galaxy level wich is a lava/ice galaxy , so we can make that: a ice and fire galaxy ( so space ice and fire)

and a dark world like in the legend of zelda a link to the past, will be so nice for final world / bowsers world

Thanks Ladida for this EPIC and Awesome layout!

Why do you change your minds so fast?...Wasn't the first idea not good enough? Am I the only who think that the first idea was the best?
@SNN: How many pages of custom graphic to we get for each submap anyways?

Probably 4 ExGFX files? The newer LMs make it very easy to include custom palettes on a per-submap basis too, so I'm pretty sure the actual GFX/coloring will be easy.
I'd like to propose a new thought out plan as well.

World One:
Grassland/Industrial Hybrid

World Two:
Sky Area

World Three:
Forest/Jungle

World Four:
Creppy Carnival

World Five:
Desert Ruin

World Six:
Fire and Ice

World Seven:
Oriental Area (lots of possibilites, you know)

World Eight:
Factory

Bonus World:
Abstract

Okay...this is the best...

What do you mean lots of possibilities? I only see 2 or 3 possibilities, but in the end it's just a Japanese style Grassland.

i can't use the newest LM , it "killed" my TLOZMWT hack!

if this can be made with the anterior version , i can do it, if not , well, i'll try

Thanks Ladida for this EPIC and Awesome layout!

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

There's more freedom with a Fun Fair than you might think.
- Obligatory fairgrounds.
- Roller Coaster-type levels akin to the DKC series that you can use a few times.
-----One where Mario runs the tracks himself (like how some other hacks and L4D2 did it)
-----One where the cart jumps with Mario
-----One where Mario jumps from the cart, but his movement is still tracked.
- Funhouse. Haunted and/or not haunted.
- Some sort of springy pinball-like stage.
- A level that's a little more minigame oriented than the others.

You know, if we put enough thought into the main map, we could fit quite a lot of themes in there and have them share worlds. As I suggested earlier, and desert/beach/reef could be one world combined. If we do other stuff like that on the main map, not only would our map be exceptionally detailed and diverse, but it would probably satisfy everyone's theme requests.

Granted, that would take a lot of thought and effort, but if it could be pulled off, it would be swell.

Just going to quote SNN here for ease.

You can't put all those ideas into one world.

I still don't like the Haunted Fairgrounds idea, I'd say it'd be best to leave the haunted fair as a single level in a haunted jungle world.

Yes you can, actually. Just keep it with the entire world theme.

It just came to me why space would be problematic.

Sure, you could probably design some sort of plot crap that forces Mario to reach the stars, but how would this be handled on the actual overworld?

Would Mario just climb up a ladder/vine to the outer regions of the earth, or what, walk on air?
I can already visualize Mario going up a ladder from swamp and all the way up to space, and then climp a vine down to a haunted fun faire. >_____>

Considering that the player needs full Overworld control to obtain all special coin thingies, I doubt this would work out =/

I'm sorry, what? Yes you can. It's more than possible.

In fact, It's been done by Supertails (not for this hack, but just an example).
