Well, it looks like the internet, free speech, and everything good about the internet, are all fucked over for a little spare change.

Fuck the world.
Dear FCC,

I fucking hate you so much. What the fuck is wrong with you? This is OUR internet, and it needs to remain that way. A person has a right to do whatever the fuck they want on the internet. We're not going down without a fight, dammit!

This is a really, really bad thing, that's for sure. :<>:

I'm not sure who I want to flip off more, Obama for letting this happen or the FCC for being this stupid. >:<

# Online tollbooths are allowed, destroying innovation: The rules passed today would allow big Internet Service Providers like Verizon and Comcast to charge for access to the "fast lane." Big companies that could afford to pay these fees like Google or Amazon would get their websites delivered to consumers quickly, while independent newspapers, bloggers, innovators, and small businesses would see their sites languish in the slow lane, destroying a level playing field for competition online and clearly violating Net Neutrality.

Absolute. Fucking. Bullshit.
If any company does that, they'll go down so fast it won't even be funny. Who's gonna use an ISP when they have to pay double just to stream video?

I suspect AT&T is already arranging for prioritized service. My Internet has been slow, timing out for most web pages, and disconnecting for the last 24 hours. Yet I can load big company sites like Yahoo Mail and Google News quickly. When I called AT&T, they said their were "outages" in California causing the problem, and there was no place I could get status reports because the problem was "internal". I think if there were outright "outages", I could find something on the news. Now what I think is happening is AT&T is configuring their lines and servers to prioritize content, and they are letting the people with the cheaper DSL plans (like me) get a preview of what it's like to only get good Internet service from major corporate web sites while they do their configurations.

I am so angry right now. I discovered this because I had some last minute Internet shopping to do, and I couldn't reach the web site I wanted. Then I found I couldn't load my own blog. I could get Google Search, but I couldn't load any pages that give Internet Outage reports or consumer complaint forums. Foreign sites are impossible. What if I wanted to buy a last minute plane ticket to visit relatives for Christmas? Would I only have access to certain travel sites?

This is by far the worst thing I have heard in a very long time. I can honestly not describe how pissed off I am right now. And I agree with FUGGNUTZ, fuck the world. FUCK IT.
This is treason. Obama deserves nothing short of the death penalty, even if it was an honest mistake. Oh well, better start writing Hand of N.E.O.N. then.

In Canada it's pretty bad too. I'm on Aliant which doesn't do much BT throttling or prioritization. Rogers however, they abuse DNS like no tomorrow, (DNS hijacking and advertising embedded in random pages) cripple competitors of their online TV (e.g: Netflix) to virtually dial-up.
layouts suck
People bemoaning the death of the free internet are forgetting that this is the first thing that specifically defines limits as to what companies can and can't do to their customers. I won't be naive and say that companies won't try and take advantage of this, but it's not going to be the end of the internet as we know it. Calm down, take a deep breath, and use a site that doesn't transmit its political views quite as blatantly for your news.
[Also, I was under the impression that AT&T has been like that for god knows how long. Eh.]

This puts Capitalism in charge of the internet. What happens if Capitalism goes boom?

Obama didn't do this. The FCC went against him and did this. >_>
God damn. I thought the internet was the one place where we could do whatever we wanted. What is the world coming to?

As for the FCC...

EDIT: I just realized something. This only applies to the US.

and also the rest of canada

I'm pretty sure this applies to most of us.

Oh look at that, big, rich companies taking what used to be everyone's and makes it shitty in search for money! No more shall we have free speech on the internet or be able to have a decent connection to our favorite small websites, or go on some of our favorite websites on our cellular phones, how great. F you, government! F you.
Dear FCC,
We have a right to say what we want on the internet. You are not allowed to control that. That is wrong. Take that right away, expect hell

This is one of the reasons why I want to move out of the us...

I'm tired.

Sonic 3 Restored patch coming soon
I think all of this is starting to wind down, at least for now. I read this article the other day. Either way, giving us less internet freedom for the sake of the music/media companies already swimming in money is just ridiculous. It's the reason why your video get's auto-blocked on Youtube if you use certain background music, etc. by the content ID matching filter. The FCC needs to side with the Constitution, not the Media Companies.
Unfortunately, copyright infringement is a capital offense in China
