I got tired of all hacks having the same physics engine...

...so I made my own.

(If the video embed doesn't work (Photobucket has been pretty screwy lately), you can download the video here instead.)
You can download the base patch here, or you can download the engine used there here (use ONLY on a CLEAN ROM). Don't bother reporting any bugs in my Jumper engine, I don't care. I just made that to demonstrate what can be done with this.

Edit: Things to avoid if you're going to use this:
Water
Vines and climbing nets
No Yoshi intros
Castle destruction sequences
Iggy
Powerups
Yoshi
Probably a lot of other stuff too

Haha, this looks very fun to play, but also seems to make SMW even easier than it originally is.
The only problem I see is that the spin jump sound gets quite annoying after a while. Aside from that...awesome job on it, I never played Jumper, but seen a few videos of it and this seems like a pretty good recreation of the physics!
D00d, where's the skid jump D:

Other than that it looks almost exactly like the original jumper :o
Your layout has been removed.
Yeah, Jumper is an entirely different game and should have different levels. I just ripped out that engine since I wanted something to demonstrate this patch with. I never worked that much on it.
And skid jumps exists, I just never made any dust.

You know Aqua the sound effect of the spin can be changed pretty easily, so that's not a problem.

Epic job here, Alcaro, I may actually use this for my hack. #w{=3}
meh

When I looked in the sound effect list, I looked for the normal jump sound. I never even considered the possibility that it was wrong, I just got surprised that it's so close to the original Jumper sound.

I never intended for anyone to use that Jumper engine. Instead I wanted people to make their own engines.
But if you want to use this one, have fun.

Oh, and here's the source code of the Jumper engine. Note that you need this if you want the Ogmo graphics.

Can't watch video. D:
Good fucking bye.
Try downloading it (mirror) instead then.
Or apply the patch and play it for yourself, the video is just a playthrough of YI1 with the new physics/graphics.

Dude, that looks awesome, much better then the physics in a certain hack that will remain unnamed. Ugh.
Good fucking bye.
Jumper... An Untitled Story... Jumpbox... AGH THE NIGHTMARES

Really awesome physics engine though. It's cool that it's Ogmo as well.
I'm not really a huge fan of actually playing with Ogmo physics, actually, but still, nice job.

If you go up top of the screen, you wrap to the bottom.
Interesting. Maybe we'll see more hacks with alternative physics in the future, although I doubt many people will want to code an entire physics engine. It's a good base, though.

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here. Progress: 64/95 levels.
