I've been messing with SampleTool to get some new music into my hack, but it seems like all the banks I've been trying (ex. all the Yoshi's Island soundtrack music) also replace or interfere with the game's sound effects. Is there any way around this, without completely redoing the banks from scratch?

No there is not. the samples bank files that come with a song will have to overwrite some instruments and some instruments are used for SFX so it will have to replace it

Yeah, but there are enough instruments available that the sound effects wouldn't necessarily NEED to be carved into by most sample banks, right...? Well, whatever, I'll do without :(

Another Sample Tool problem: I'm trying to use some of Jimmy52905's music, but I can't seem to get the samples to work.
I inserted the music I wanted with romi's Addmusic, patched MORE.asm (but IDK if I patched MORE.bin, I really don't know anything about either of those files), and then went to sample tool. I opened the ROM, seleced the level I gave the custom music (105), created a new bank by opening the one I needed from the file, set it so that 105 used that bank, and then saved.

This is what my screen looks like:



When I open the ROM and go to 105, the music is messed up (the wrong instruments are playing), but I have the Yoshi's Island sound effects like I should. Any idea what might be going on?

EDIT: Yeah, I double checked and MORE.asm's main function is the insertion of MORE.bin.

So yeah, I'm not really going to be posting for a while. Not that anyone cares.
I'm getting a TON of issues with Divine Hell, mostly regarding failure to load. I THINK it's because of ASM I'm using trying to use, but I'm not sure.

This is the patch.

If you can figure out what's wrong and you know how to fix it, please, do tell.

Also, I tried it in both zsnes and snes9x. It doesn't work whatsoever. (I'm ignoring Bsnes because I don't really like it. It doesn't run well on my computer.)

EDIT: Oh yeah, and before I forget, I can't seem to get AddMusic to work. Not sure about SampleTool, due to only testing it on level 130's banks, and I don't have a direct link to Level 130 yet.
Want to see some of my cool swords? Well, too bad, right now you only get to see one of them, and it's my avatar. Might set up some kind of gallery/portfolio at some point, though.

And in case you used xkas, did you remember to set freespace?
So I downloaded BlockTool. And then...I didn't know what to do. Something with Map 16? I tried to mess with it and understand it. But i still don't get how it works...

That's the number it corresponds to on the Map16 Tile Map Editor. Read the tutorial.

I have a question. In SpriteTool, I want to add the Poison Mushroom. I insert it as sprite 85 (I have used ST before so I know what I'm doing.). I insert it in LM, but then ingame it just appears weirdly and falls out of my vicinity. Why? o-o

The poison mushroom overwrites original sprite 85 (which is unused and doesn't do anything), so you'll need to insert it as a normal sprite, not as a custom one.

From the regular/extended sprite lists? Because I don't see 85 anywhere.

No, you'll still need to use the manual insertion window. Just don't set the extra bits.

Does the music require carol's MORE.asm + .bin?

I cannot figure out how to adjust the pallette E to change the custom message blocks, made by yoshicookiezeus.

I have A serious problem here. I was changing the dragoncoin, so I went to change the counter for it, but found that the color palette is weird. I was trying to make it pink, but the color was yellow and black, even though i put it PAST the yellow. I used YY-CHR. why can't I change it to pink? Please PM me how to fix it.

Do you mean the 16x32 Dragon Coin/Yoshi Coin? if so, did you change the palette of the Dragon Coin?

If you mean the Yoshi/Dragon Coin Status Bar Counter. Than you do know that Layer 3 is only 4 colors each palette (1 color is transparency, so only 3 colors) and the first 2 palettes in the palette editor are all the colors for Layer 3.

The one labeled "Romi's Spritetool - v1.40" in our tool section is the one you want. The reason behind this confusion is that it's based off mikeyk's spritetool (but I thought all traces of that was deleted).
