Just drawing some graphics~



The control room. I'm rather pleased with the way the big screen turned out. The screen background animates between red and light blue.



The residential section. Doesn't seem to be anyone else here, though, what with all the other doors being locked...



Everyone knows that you aren't supposed to use the elevators during an emergency, so those doors are locked as well.



And finally, some WIP sprite graphics. The green thing is a roto-disc (which looks much better when it's flashing), and the gray electrical thing on the floor is a grinder that refused to have its palette changed through Tweaker. I'll hex edit the thing and change its sound effect some day when I'm less lazy.

Also, though you can't see it in the screenshots, I added a small piece of levelASM to the level that makes the background slowly rise, to give the effect that the place is falling.



EDIT: Actual level design? What is this madness?



The first part of the level consists of a small puzzle. The evacuation pods are located at the top of the main tower, but the way upwards appears to be blocked. And no P-Switches in sight...



There is, however, another path open. At its end, Mario notices a springboard balanced precariously atop a turn block. Perhaps if he could get it to drop down...?



Luckily, the disco shell (which will most likely be redrawn to something more fitting to the theme) is all too happy to oblige.



There are several turn blocks in the way, each (slightly) more difficult to hit than the last one. But patience pays off...



...as the springboard eventually provides access to a P-Switch! How fortunate!



Now let's just hope that wasn't too much time wasted, and that Mario will still be able to escape before the facility crashes to the ground...

As for my level, I'm probably not going to be able to finish it by the deadline, which makes me sad :(. So I'm dropping out, as much as I didn't want to. My level idea just had too many custom ASM/graphics/level design aspects that needed too much time to be worked on, and I haven't had the time to get around to working on almost any of them.

I don't really want to start a new idea, as I feel my newer idea, whatever that would end up being, won't be as good as the one I had planned. And I don't like the idea of entering a SMWC contest without a fancy level concept. So unless I get some sort of last minute inspiration, I'm out.

Anyways, I wonder if there really is any truth in that graph S.N.N posted...
