2010-2011 School Year Shenanigans

If you've gone back to school already(like me), has anything crazy, stupid, weird, ect. already happened while there?

I'll start off by saying that on the first day, the fire alarm went off because of an overloaded outlet that made some smoke and sparks and set them off. And we stood outside of the building for like 45 minutes waiting for the OK to come inside.

What's your story?

Nothing really. The most 'exciting' thing I did was drinking beer during school time (I'm allowed to buy beer at 16 here, but I'm not quite allowed to drink it during schooltime). I did that with a girl who decided to go to the shop too and buy something random.

Eh. Nothing out of the ordinary, I'd say. Nothing ever happens in this school.

Actually yes.

We had one heck of a lightning storm here and my school got struck by lightning, setting it on fire! (Apparently it wasn't raining or the rain itself couldn't extinguish it.) Fortunately, the firemen came within minutes of ignition to put it out, but my friends talked the next day about how they freaked out when they saw it. I, however, was at home when it happened.

Why does all the cool stuff happen when I'm not looking???

You hear dice being thrown...

Nothing really ever happens at our school.
But that's the thing about Jamaica:
All the exciting stuff happens outside of school.

Wow, Ligthning set your school on fire? That's crazy. I wonder if anyone's ever had It snow so bad they couldn't get out of school? It's happened to me, and it can actually be pretty fun.

Nothing interesting's happened at my school. Well, except my history teacher's name is Flocker, but that's about it.

The rest of my family was out shopping when my neighbors' house burnt down. And some of the neighbors. I'm sure they would have loved to have seen that when it happened.

First day of school today, and apparently whoever set up the bus routes screwed up badly with ours. Let's just say that wherever there weren't three people to a seat, there were four people to a seat. We ended up having to skip the last five stops because there was literally no more room for anyone to go; the seats were filled with people sitting on each other and the isles were filled with people standing.

Then in British Literature at the end of the day the teacher handed out the book we were going to start reading: 1984. Please, for the sake of my sanity, tell me that this isn't like every other dystopian novel in existence where the plot is "Guy is happy with life, guy is then convinced that life sucks, guy tries to lead a revolution, guy fails." I swear I will rip my hair out one by one if I have to read one more boring, uninspired, horrifically obvious book about how humanity as a whole is the worst thing on the planet Earth, especially since it's the only thing we've been reading for the past three years. At the very least, tell me it focuses more on the story than the message...please?

At least finally getting to eat inside the Senior Cafe was pretty cool, even if the food isn't any better.
I should get a new layout.

Probably won't, though.
School starts tomorrow. Shenanigans will be had.
(my math teacher's name is Mariko Macdonald. Japanese name with irish last name? Whut)
School starts on the worst day ever for me...

*big breath*

A FRIDAY!!! In other words, I go back on a completely pointless day and might as well wait til Monday.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyways, back to the thread topic, nothing interesting happens. Basically, go to school, get taught something, come home. Their might be something interesting once in a blue moon, but otherwise, no.
I suppose that my bus breaking down and being an hour and a half late for school on the first day counts as something. Nothing more yet.
I usually need to know which scedule and group of people I'm in weeks before the start of the schoolyear, now they decided to just let me know on the very last day of the vacation.

Here's something interesting:
a disgruntled former student who had a bulk box of condoms in his room and his mom said she would search his room. How did he dispose of them? He went on campus at night and threw at least 100 condoms around the school, some opened, some not. Truly awesome, eh?

I haven't gotten into school yet, but a couple of days ago I went to pick up the schedule for the first semester and me and one of my friends going into grade 11 started running around the whole school acting like idiots.

It was fun. Too bad it had to be ruined by my realization of the new schedule setup this year which happens to suck.
Kipernal, please tell me you know more about 1984 than the fact that it's set in a dystopia.
Myself, I haven't had much happen, unless you count having to adjust to the schedule being changed due to an added lunch thing being significant.

In other words, no I don't know too much about it. I don't know if it's good, I don't know if it's bad, and I'm hoping that it doesn't shape out to be as mind-numbingly boring as most of the other things we've read. (Incidentally, I don't necessarily hate dystopian novels. I just hate clichéd dystopian novels that put a boring, predictable message before an entrancing plot line. I'm hoping Orwell manages to break my preconceptions. But given the fact that it is Orwell, the guy who managed to put the history of communism into a children's book about farm animals, and that this book wouldn't have been as wildly popular as it was without something good in it, I don't have low expectations.)

tl;dr I said what I meant; but that doesn't mean I don't have an open mind about it. I want to enjoy this book, but whether I will or not is up to the author.
I should get a new layout.

Probably won't, though.

You don't realize how lucky you are to actually get your schedule before school starts, do you?

I could go on a huge rant about this, as I just got back from this crappy first day (only the freshmen have to stay and sit in advisory for another 4 1/2 hours :D), but long story short I got my schedule today on the first day of school, and I find out that half of my classes are either stuff I took last year or are blank spots on the page. A large amount of us with this problem went straight to the office and asked what the hell they've been smoking for the 5 1/2 months they've had to make these (yep, we submitted our papers in March) and we're forced to wait until they fix them, which will either be later today or next week (though I'd say it's definetly next week if everything goes like it did last year).

Crap, I went on a rant anyways, didn't I? Oh well, I'm P.O.ed about this right now, so I can't really help it.

My school isn't that interesting.
Well, i remeber when they brought those portuguese computers. We started to kick them and it was fun, but that was in 2009-2010.

I still haven't started the school year, though. But i'm sure i'll see a lot of shenanigans (which are overrated btw), because 11th graders usually do that.
i just lurk sometimes
I transferred into Japanese class today, and the whole class did this stretching thing that was aparantly done in Japan every morning. The result was hilarious.

Needless to say, it was the best thing that happened in school this year.

Well, actually, they were the boxes of the computers, not the computers itself
