I haven't heard the original, but that sounds pretty good. The only issue I noticed was that the end gets cut off by only a fraction of a note just as it loops; you might want to fix that.

Also, I've managed to port one of the most convoluted, random, and nonsensical songs I've ever heard. It almost sounds like a chorus of dogs barking while someone bangs their head against a sound effects board, followed up by a deranged remix of "How Much is that Doggie in the Window?" And so I present, Doggie. First person to figure out where in a hack this music would fit gets a cookie.
I should get a new layout.

Probably won't, though.
A town buried in a dark-ish cave in some sort of weird world, like Magicant from Mother.

Also this song is somehow slightly catchy. o.O
Holy what Kipernal lol That is crazy omg lol

(lol should be used to replace punctuation, it is now a standard lol)

Well, my first try at a Touhou song, this one wasn't that hard to make.

Not too shabby. The only two major recommendations that I have are to move channel #4 to #5, since it's both totally empty and too important to be overwritten by SFX, and to decrease the octave of #1 from 0:44 onwards, for the sake of everyone's eardrums. :P

And add looping, but I figure that's obvious.
I should get a new layout.

Probably won't, though.
Well, what would fix it is removing the rests at the beginning but I can't tell how many rests to remove from each one except for channel #1.
Er...who said anything about removing rests? To fix what I mentioned, you'd

*Find where in the .txt file it says #4 and change it to #5.
*Put a < somewhere in the huge mass of rests in channel #1.
*Put a / around ten or so measures in on each channel.

Oh, and now that I take a closer listen,

*Add a few rests to "fill in" some of your channels, since the song sounds like it ends a bit too early (but that might just be me).
I should get a new layout.

Probably won't, though.

So this is my first successful and finished port. I was going to make a version of this with samples, but it just sounded worse and less accurate. >.<
Posting here for the first time since the forum was down...I'm glad to see this thread is still alive!

I just wrote this piece today, and I am quite happy with it. It's my submission for the Idol's final round.

Here it is.

The original version can be found here.
Well, this was kinda hard. Only uses 3 instruments but it's the only way I could get it small enough. It's not too good but it was okay.
Here it is!:

Isn't the song really 10 minutes long? Either way, that was pretty good, considering I can't port. At all.

Can you send me the midi of that?

I heard this a while back on the IRC. It sounds really good, even if it is unsampled. Gotta love that song, especially with that @2. (:

YES. Finally! I've been waiting for someone to port this with the jumpy beat. The previous attempts I've seen have a flat, 4/4 beat, with no jumpy at all. :( So yeah, nice job with this! :D
This one's my first musical experiment ever #w{=3}!

This tune is from a Gameboy game called Kwirk. I cannot tell whether or not I've ported it since I crafted the txt file from scratch. It was difficult, but I realized that that was because I didn't check for the tempo first thing.

Here it is (the notes sound higher in WinSPC than ingame):
Kwirk - Going up?

If I wasn't so late, I'd have probably used this for Round 6 of SMWC Idol. Ya think it's release worthy?
DuskSpark: it's really wonderful for a first port! And you wrote the txt from scratch?! That was a hell of work then, congratulations. And yes, I think it's totally release worthy. :)
Thank you for the good feedback Hadron! :)

It took me quite a bit of hours to complete it from ground up (shorter if only I tracked the right tempo first :( ), but the learning experience is worth it.

I found finding the right percussions to be a bit tough. I couldn't figure a way to emulate the spray-like sound the game makes, but from what I have going now, I think it sounds good enough.
A preview of what I'm currently porting.

BTW, 鋼の錬金術師 is an awesome anime. Five hundreth posuto wa seijō ni shiyō

I searched for an old port on the music page, no luck.
What did I do then? Make it myself.
Friday The 13th - Cabin/Introduction

I think it sounds good the way it is, but I'm open for suggestions.
@RedToonLink: I've heard that tune in one of those more/less recently released hacks, but yours gives off a sort of creepy feel. I like this.
