[WIP Thread]Hunt For The Dragon Coins

Standard

Hunt for the dragon coins is a hack inspired by the design of the old 'Sonic the Hedgehog' that appeared for the Sega Mega Drive.

All of the levels in my hack are locations in a sonic game - from Green Hill to DoomsDay - There are also more sonic elements such as a Pinball style game in Casino Night, like in the original and a Mine Cart section in Endless Mine.

Why is my hack called 'Hunt for the Dragon Coins'? In each level, there are 3 Dragon Coins. If you collect them, the secret exit will be activated in a level.

Here are some of the levels in my hack:

This is the first level, Green Hill, which acts as a tutorial Stage for my hack. Here, the Dragon Coins are very easy to find.
The message box explains the Dragon Coins in this hack.

This is Labyrinth Zone which features an Air Meter. Some of this level takes place underwater(as in the screenshot) and other parts of this level takes place on land.

This is IceCap.

This is Casino Night, which is the most gimmicky level in this hack.
There is a Pinball Style game, and a Maze Game in this level.

Overworld:

This is a video of the OW. The Green Hill stage shown has a new palette - first screenshot - and is outdated. The video shows that HFTDC's OW is non-linear and there are a lot of pathways to the 3 switches.

Comments would be appreciated.
Looks good, only critism is the fake gradient pallette. There seems like theres a big difference between the first and second colour. Mkae the first colour darker for a smoother transition. However you chose green which is an interesting colour. :D
All palette issues have been fixed.

I also want to show the final boss for my hack.

(Spoiler Warning)

There will be two final bosses:
Quake Bowser - get the pswitch and press it.
Bowser's Ghost - Bowser dies and his ghost appears.
This is a version of Big Boo Boss with 5 hitpoints.

Hahaha I'm not watching that. Spoilers. >.>

Anyways, do you mind if I continue my LP of it when finished?
Good fucking bye.
Here's my comments on the final boss video:

0:01 - * Dragon Coins' (needs an apostrophe at the end)
* Not even Mario can stop me now!

0:11 - *I already have the power of the Dragon Coins.

Also, I like the effect you did with the text here.

0:17 - I think the boss room could use quite a bit more detail, especially considering the amount of care you put into the rest of the hack. One platform, a bridge made of unused blocks, and a P-switch, all using a default palette, is kind of bare-bones.

0:56 - * -Bowser's Ghost-
* You don't give up, do you?
* Mario, dead

1:11 - Again, this boss arena is extremely bare-bones. No background, a fairly basic arena, and a default palette don't really fit in with the rest of the hack.

2:04 - It's hard to tell with the video quality, but I think the door is cut off a bit by the cement block.
@Midna - all fixed:)

@goldensonic - It would be better if you started from the beginning as I have changed a lot since the demo.
More stuff!

In labyrinth, there is now a Groundpound Koopa Miniboss to keep the gameplay fresh.

Marble Zone

Like the real Marble Zone, there is two sections to this level - the lava filled grassland area and the ruins part.
There is a lava raft in this level to reach a dragon coin, like in marble where you ride the block.

I would like to say my hack is nearly finished - I have two more levels and the minigames to make before I can give out my hack to beta testers.

If you wish to beta test my hack, post here:)
My only critisim is that the bg rock outline in some areas on the first screen of the marble zone is a bit too light. Otherwise good job.
I think it was like that in the original Super Mario World...

I'd like to beta test this hack. It looks interesting.
Are you going to change the palletes in Marble Zone? (Well, I'm pretty sure those are the original palletes...)

Anyways, sure, I'll restart the LP when it's finished. Obviously I'd want to show off the changes from the demo if they existed, anyways.
Good fucking bye.
@Golden Sonic - I will keep the first palette as it suits a lava themed level.
I will change the second palette, though.

Beta Testers

can i test it too???
Wow. This looks amazing! Anything I can do to help?
Revelation 20-21: He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming quickly." Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
@Livin4jesus - Thank you!
If you wish to help, you could:

-beta test
-if you can port music, I would appreciate it if you could port one of the two midis below.

@dragonx123 - Sure!

----------------------------------------------------------

At the moment, I am working on revamping Death Egg zone, the final level of my hack.
Previously, the level was somewhat boring - the level was not very climatic.

Oh. I would like someone to port Sandopolis and Doomsday. Thank you.
