This is where I shall show off the death filled mayhem that is my hack. I call it Hell On A Stick and it is blatantly Kaizo. So far it doesn't require any glitches to beat (though there are a couple of bonuses that may require a minor glitch) and I intend on keeping it this way unless there's something that would be just too lulzy to do. It has 3 worlds completed as of now.
Story: Bowser, sick and tired of Mario, has come for him in the dead of night and dragged him to Hell. You must help him escape.
Worlds: The first four will be based off of the four Greek Elements, and then I'll have one world based mostly off of mind games, then there's the Bowser world and then the Special world.
Overworld: Completely redone.
Custom Music: It has been added.
Title screen demo: No longer the default!
Custom graphics: No more munchers, they have been replaced with Deathmines.
Switch Palaces: Not required to beat the game (except for one screw-you that I have planned for very late in the game), but finding them will each unlock a hidden level in Yoshi's house (All switch palaces completed, 0 of 4 bonus levels completed).
Version numbers:
0.1: (no longer available) The original release, this contained no secret levels (yet) and had not changed the overworld. At. All.
0.2: (No longer available) The second demo, this one contained a modified overworld and some new levels, while moving two of the old levels to 'secret' status. The first world had been done.
0.2.5, later 0.2.6: (no longer available) Some bugfixes.
0.3: (no longer available) More bugfixes, and a second world has been done. There are plans for the rest of the worlds, too. One of the old secret levels has been moved back into the main game, and the Red switch palace has been enabled. The second world has its own custom palette, and the Desert level from the first world has one as well, one that will likely be reused in the 4th world.
0.3.2: (no longer available) A couple more bugfixes, among other things that I've forgotten about since I haven't actually been able to edit this topic.
0.3.3 (Outdated Version) Some minor bugfixes, and a balancing of difficulty in the first world. Some people will be happy to know that the Eye of the Storm level has been changed to be a boss level, and as such no longer has That Damn Secret Path enabled.
0.3.4 (Outdated Version) Another round of bugfixes, and the first of 5 levels out of the 3rd world has been added. The second castle now destroys when you clear it, instead of when you clear the switch palace, and the midway gate in the desert level should finally WORK THE WAY IT IS DESIGNED TO. Friggin midway gates...
0.4.0 (Outdated Version) Slight overworld modification, and by that I mean I split the island in two, the west island now a desert. The Desert of Death level will be moved over when I finish this other stupid level I'm working on. However, the rest of the lava levels are done! (And for some reason I'm really tempted to include the original, non-boss version of Eye of the Storm but with the only option being That Damn Secret Path as a bonus level.) Also, the title screen got changed. Woo hoo! In addition, the Earth (Green) Switch Palace is actually a switch palace, and not a freebie.
0.4.1 (Outdated Version) A few levels had tiny modifications, most notably being several FG/BG init positions fixed. There shouldn't be any more of those. Also, there was a slight oversight in the Flaming Fortress--before I enabled the no-yoshi intro, you were able to keep the yoshi you got in-level when you passed through a door, so I forced the player to burn the dino. However, the dino is now stripped upon door usage, and this made the level unbeatable. This has been fixed.
0.4.2 (now 0.4.3) (Outdated Version) Similar to the last patch, there were some graphical modifications, as well as removing a few things that bugged me/other people, and fixing some level glitches that made me angry in the face. Woot~
EDIT: silent update, fixed a buncha map16 shit and replaced a bunch of grey blocks with land tiles.
0.4.4 (Current Version) 99% of grey blocks are gone, map16ed into the abyss. Also I fixed a lot of things that Sadistic Designer told me to fix. At least I think they're fixed. I'm also having trouble with inserting the No Yoshi block, as well as having zero ExGFX skills (so I can't insert the vine end tile, cryface ). Anyone willing to help with that gets special thanxed in the credits.
EDIT: silent update, got rid of a wall in Doom Takes Wing that shouldn't have been there. It prevents the level from being completed in the "intended" way but is still doable. It's just harder and not the intent. If you downloaded this version (not that I think anyone did), you ought to replace it with the new one. Old save files are still compatable, and don't even bother if you actually got past the 2nd stage as it's the only one affected.
Hoping for someone to Let's Play my rom hack, Hell On A Stick. Current version 0.4.3.
Hoping for willing betatesters and/or LPers. PM if interested. (I wanna know where you're uploading your vids if at all, so I can watch the pain.)
