Did you use Super GFX Bypass? Did you insert the ExGFX? Did you do everything exactly the same way?
Hello, all! I am COMPLETELY new to just about everything here: asm, xkas, hex, you name it. I tried to create a hack last year, but I never even scratched the surface. I want to have another go at it, but I keep hitting dead ends again. I think I need sort of like a personal trainer; someone to help me be able to stand on my own two feet. I would just be able to use the tutorial thread, but I get really confused, and nothing seems to work for me. I really think I need to know where to start the foundation of my hack first. If you think you'd have the time or patience to help me, I would be extremely grateful. You can PM me, or eMail me ([email protected]) so we can get started. Thank you so much for the help! #w{=)}

I need to learn to pay attention to the stickies...

Anyhoo, I'm having trouble with Romi's AddMusic, or maybe just the songs. This is CnP from the command prompt:

Code

 27 : LEVEL/FF5 Clash on the Big Bridge.txt
ERROR : 127: Specified label number duplicated
There shouldn't be any error in the .txt file
Insertion has been unsuccessful...

Is there anything I can do on my end to fix this?
Currently balancing work and hobbies. Also I've got a job now.
Practice Makes Purrfect
This may seem like a stupid post, but can anyone make a TXT or HTML help file for spritetool? Wordpad is being stupid, and since I have ME, I don't have Microsoft Word. All I have is Notepad.
Thanks

Takimg a break from (and restarting) work on New Super DS World (which is mostly NSMB ExGFX and mostly DS music).
Im trying to use edits bgripper, but it sucks to have to pick every single 8x8 tile, especially when they are large( like over 500 tiles). What is the key combination so i can select a bulk amount of tiles at once. Thank you ;)
@1337H4mm3rBr0z - There is no key combination, i have tried everything but there is none. you have to select the 8x8 tiles by yourself

Edit: Actually, i haven't tried everything. but i did find a quick way now. select a 8x8 tile (normally how you would do it) then hold Shift and click far from the 8x8 tile and it will select all the tiles up to there.

Hacks I Support:

I'm currently building a hack that's based off SMB3X (With Koyuki's permission of course) and I desire to add a couple more sprites that weren't added to the hack originally.

Thing is, whenever I insert any new sprites to the hack Sprite tool automatically "cleans up data from previous runs" and deletes a whopping amount of data (eg. New tag: deleted 40 bytes from PC 0x86f35) making the hack totally unplayable whenever I do a test run afterwards.

Is there a way that I can insert new sprites without erasing any previous data that was on the hack? I'm using Sprite Tool v1.40

Any feedback/help would be awesome.

Thanks,
Cerebro
Well, (to my extent of knowledge) no, you can't. The way spritetool works is based on your 'sprites.txt' file. It takes the sprites listed there and them only and inserts into your ROM.

Unless I'm missing something, you will have to get his 'sprites.txt' file and add onto it.

Give Mario some love?~
Probably already meantioned here, but I don't wanna look through all 28 pages.

I need help inserting this sprrite into a rom. I have the .cfg and .asm all ready and stuff, but I need help executing the insertion.

Make a blank text file.

00-BF Standard Sprites (sprites included in the 'sprites' subdirectory)
C0-CF Shooters (sprites included in the 'shooters' subdirectory)
D0-DF Generators (sprites included in the 'generators' subdirectory)
E0-FF Invalid

A normal sprite is 00-BF so in the text file, type this:

0 *.cfg

* is the cfg filename.

1 will go after for the next sprite you insert.

Open sprite tool then type you ROM then your text file name you just created. After you insert it, open Lunar Magic, select the shell then hit the Insert button on your keyboard then type in 0 (or whatever number you selected) and then go down to extra bit. Select 2 or 3, the sprite should tell you what it is. A black X box will appear, drag it to where you want it.

I need to create a .bin file for a block I am trying to create. What do I use to create the file?

@DJSecret - Note: Make sure there are no JMP Tables at the top and replace every RTL with a RTS. now you drop it over trasm (Included with Spritetool), it will now create 3 files, 2 of which are not .bin files which are useless so you can delete them

Umm... better I learn now as opposed to later. Could you be more specific? I have the Hex codes I need for the block, it's just I need to know what to do with them. I thought Notepad would do the trick, as that's what ASM and CFG files use.

I am not unfamiliar with BT, so I don't need any instruction past the point of creating the BIN file itself. I merely need to learn this because I am learning ASM.
