Music Porting

This may not be the right place to ask, but I need some help. I want to try to port as many songs from the game "Yoshi's Cookie" for the snes, but i have no real idea on how to do it. I read some of the tutorials, but the songs never come out right. I just need some advice from people who ported songs before. Any help?
what tutorials did you use?
Your layout has been removed.
Music porting is hard. If it doesn't sound right, you'll have to fix it manually or find a better midi as a base. The latter isn't always an option.

Do you have any background in music? If you can read sheet music and the like, understanding how it all works is much easier.

its not always hard, it is sometimes very easy aside from making it into a submittable format.

also, what did you do for your first attempt?
Well, this is like my 2nd time porting a song. It never works for me. My first song was the title screen of Dr Mario, but I couldn't even get that to insert with addmusic. now I want to try to port songs from Yoshi's Cookie for a project, but I just don't know where to start. Is there a way to take SPC's from the snes version and port them somehow?
What is the error addmusic is giving you when you try to insert the music? Your file could either be too big or a problem with one or more octaves. Also, have you done any looping in the mml?
