rawr. No milestone post for me this time~

Anyway, I'm proud to present my main C3 attraction for this year, the Gameplay Gimmicks from Other Mario Games ASM Pack! (GGFOMGAP)

The GGFOMGAP has occupied most of my time since late March, and I'd have to say I'm pleased with the result. Here are the four things that I included, in order of the game that they came from:

Super Mario Bros. Flagpole

Lots of people have wanted this one since the dawn of time. Grab on to the flagpole, get an amount of points, and slide down, exiting the level after jumping off. The patch works by hijacking the goal tape, making it an easy one-patch stop, rather than having to go through spritetool. Bugs include being able to hear jumping noises for brief period, and being able to control the jump height after jumping off the flagpole.

Super Mario Bros. 3 Vertical level wrapping

I know this has been done before. However, to put it lightly, the previous version sucked. This one actually allows you to walk all the way off the stage before walking out the other side. There is compatibility with sprites, mario, and extended sprites. Bugs include sprite interaction being disabled on screen edges due to the mario engine being a bitch.

Super Mario 64 Wall jump/slide

Once again, this has already been done. But, I had completely finished this patch before I was given the knowledge that this had already been done, at which point I tried the other version out, and found it inferior. I copied not a line of code from that patch.

New Super Mario Bros. Level-progress meter

You've already seen a bit of this from me in that youtube video I posted in the ASM showoff thread. So, this text is going to entirely be about the misc. features. This version of the patch supports vertical levels and levels where you start farther forward than you end. (i.e. Ludwig's castle room 2) It also includes an option to disable the counter in any one level. This is good for boss fights and bonus games. Lastly, I finally got off my lazy ass and learned HDMA so that I could have this counter in the same room as other layer 3 stuff without messing anything up.

And without further ado, I proudly present to you the epic-large download link for the...

GGFOMGAP

Now go have fun!
Great job. Gimmicks are what makes the game, you know. ok, not really, but it is really good.
It's about time someone made a SMB flagpole. Anyways nice ASM stuff! They are all useful for people who need these.
About the Walljump: The smoke appears kinda low, looks weird, and so does the contact graphics. Beyond that, nice to see that you fixed a major bug that I missed my first time around. I guess I can't be surprised that you made one better than me though, since I had only been coding for like 2 weeks when I wrote mine. Good job.
Another awesome project. Nice work on these noobish. Im sure these will be useful to alot of people.
what adam said
the flagpole caught my eye. it'd be great for SMAS styled hacks.
Your layout has been removed.

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

If this was several months sooner, I could see myself easily using the flagpole (though probably tampered with a little as to prevent easy farming. Now... not so much, but I must admit that it's a great patch to have.

The walljump patch got rid of one of the patches I can't seem to fix (Mario going to his slading pose during the level/keyhole zoom in/out), but the other one is still out of graps (sliding on the edge of a screen, which can cheapen auto-scroll levels.

The NSMB tracker looks damn tempting to use. That's perhaps my favorite one of your offerings.

Finally the vertical wrap is damn cool, though it being a patch is off-putting to me unless it can be easily converted to a sprite or en/disabled on a per-level basis.

Allinall, really cool patches for anyone that's looking for something along those lines.

Cool. I've never seen any SMB3 vertical wrap and SMB1 flagpole as good as this one.
Neat stuff, Noobish. I didn't even know you were working on all this.

----------------

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here. Progress: 64/95 levels.
I love the SM64 Walljump, great job!

PROGRESS BAR FTW! Inserting into my kaizo hack...
(:P)

I might put some sort of signature here once. I guess.

Very nice things you made there. It sure will be usefull to alot of people here.

I myself always wanted to have a smb1 flagpole. =P

Also I am now abusing the hell out of the flagpole :P Using a spinjumpable enemy and a ledge only reachable if you hold the jump button. :)

I might put some sort of signature here once. I guess.
I love the Level-progress meter, it would suit perfectely in my hack. you made some great stuff. :)

Amazing as always. I especially like that SMB flagpole. The walljump looks a tad odd, like what someone else said, but other than that, it's really good.

And I never liked the previous Vertical Level Wrap. Yours looks much better.
thank you for finally making these patches.
the vertical one has been such a bitch (with it teleporting you 1 block away from the side of the screen) i've been waiting for a change.
thank you for making that change.
oh and the others were ok too, i guess.
ask me if i give a f*ck...
Cool stuff. I don't know if I'll use it, but it's great anyway.
Now I need to change my old avatar. Or not.
Finally someone made a correct SMB3 wrap. I found it really awkward in levels to have a 16x16 space before hitting the wall. This will easily correct those issues and become pretty popular to boot.
