rawr. No milestone post for me this time~
Anyway, I'm proud to present my main C3 attraction for this year, the Gameplay Gimmicks from Other Mario Games ASM Pack! (GGFOMGAP)
The GGFOMGAP has occupied most of my time since late March, and I'd have to say I'm pleased with the result. Here are the four things that I included, in order of the game that they came from:
Super Mario Bros. Flagpole
Lots of people have wanted this one since the dawn of time. Grab on to the flagpole, get an amount of points, and slide down, exiting the level after jumping off. The patch works by hijacking the goal tape, making it an easy one-patch stop, rather than having to go through spritetool. Bugs include being able to hear jumping noises for brief period, and being able to control the jump height after jumping off the flagpole.
Super Mario Bros. 3 Vertical level wrapping
I know this has been done before. However, to put it lightly, the previous version sucked. This one actually allows you to walk all the way off the stage before walking out the other side. There is compatibility with sprites, mario, and extended sprites. Bugs include sprite interaction being disabled on screen edges due to the mario engine being a bitch.
Super Mario 64 Wall jump/slide
Once again, this has already been done. But, I had completely finished this patch before I was given the knowledge that this had already been done, at which point I tried the other version out, and found it inferior. I copied not a line of code from that patch.
New Super Mario Bros. Level-progress meter
You've already seen a bit of this from me in that youtube video I posted in the ASM showoff thread. So, this text is going to entirely be about the misc. features. This version of the patch supports vertical levels and levels where you start farther forward than you end. (i.e. Ludwig's castle room 2) It also includes an option to disable the counter in any one level. This is good for boss fights and bonus games. Lastly, I finally got off my lazy ass and learned HDMA so that I could have this counter in the same room as other layer 3 stuff without messing anything up.
And without further ado, I proudly present to you the epic-large download link for the...

Now go have fun!
