Why do people say Internet Explorer suck?

Why do people say IE suck? I mean, it's not that bad. I've been thinking of it for days...

DISCLAIMER: IT MADE MY COMPUTER RUN AWFULLY SLOW ONE TIME.
meow! ◈ carrd

It's got huge security flaws, it doesn't come close to meeting web standards, it's slow, and it's for some reason so necessary to windows that it is very difficult to remove from your computer entirely, and if you manage to do that, it will break your system.

I think Internet Explorer is such because rarely developed and is still a lot left a broken system. Making it possible when we use it, the computer becomes slow speed.
Sorry, about my bad english. Because I'm Indonesian.
Cos it does *shot*

No, IE was a retarded douche for me, gave me tons of viruses, didn't work half the time and sometimes froze...but it may just be my PC so meh.

IESUX.
For the most part, the only reason people use it is because it's default on Windows computers.

And/or because if you like certain flash games, FF and GC don't work with them. I used to play a game called 'Stick Arena', and it lagged ass when I used FF or GC.

Why not go to my Youtube channel?

IE lags like shit, gives you lots of viruses, and also just because other browsers are better. That's why I use Chrome.

I've never encountered such a problem, but I don't play too many flash games in the first place.

Because it's slow.
eh.
i just lurk sometimes
Because Safari is 100% superior to any other browser.

Because other browsers are more foolproof.

Yup, that's right. IE may be a bit inferior to other browsers in that regard, but not by as much as people claim.

Viruses due to IE - You're doing something wrong, most likely not having a decent antivirus program. I've been using IE for years and the only viruses I've ever gotten were reportedly gotten by people using Chrome, Firefox, etc. as well.

Crashing - Yeah, it does sometimes, I'll admit. Rarely though - much more common is a website that lags it and the computer to heck (see Memory leak) But heck, Firefox does too! It crashed just as much as IE if not more until just a couple years ago, if that long.

Slow - What. Something's wrong with your computer or maybe you just have a poor connection if IE is slow. For me, Firefox is just as fast as IE, and Chrome is about 3 times slower.

Lack of customizability - Agree. I never use anything but the defaults on anything, though, so it doesn't bother me. Besides, you can still customize the security settings, homepage, options, etc. just fine. There's no skins, yeah, but skins aren't really important.

Memory leak - Sadly, yes. Only real flaw I see with IE. Some sites (Mibbit, Facebook, etc) just start lagging the computer if they're open for too long. IE uses a lot of memory too when that happens. Meh - not a big deal when you can restore lost tabs in IE. Besides, I'm sure we all remember a year back or so, when Firefox used even more memory and processing speed!

Yeah, Firefox is better, I'd say, but that's only because it's ahead. I think that when most people think of IE, they think of IE6. Good grief, IE6 absolutely SUCKED >.< But it's gotten a lot better now. IE is improving. Think about what makes Firefox so great. Well, expect to see all that and more in IE9. Internet Explorer is really, truly and sadly, underrated.
Because Windows is buggy :) and IE6 was crap. Anyway, I must admit IE8 is good browser, but I don't use it (personal preference). It's rarely crashes, if even crashes. It has modern browsers features. It isn't so slow as previous versions.

Result: You can use IE8 without any trouble. Probably bad opinion is from IE6, installed with XP, which has... 8 years. Really, guys must be still idiots, if they say IE is crap. They say that they only had IE6 on computers.

Well, it doesn't follow many web standards, still doesn't support svgs by default, and improperly renders a lot of things. It fails standards tests like the acid3 test and does badly on benchmarks. It is also the most used browser, which means that it's security flaws are much more likely to be exploited than those of say, epiphany, konquerer, or even safari and chrome. And, even if it wasn't terrible, it's still inferior. There's very little reason to use IE because there are better browsers out there for free. A lot of adware affects internet explorer as well, a lot of activex controls are whatever they're called these days have adware, it just makes your computer more susceptible to malware. You would be better off with just about any other modern browser, so why use IE?

Well, most of what you say is true, with a few exceptions, but I'm tired and lazy and don't feel like commenting on them.

Bottom line: IE definitely isn't the best browser, but it's not bad, either. IE isn't truly bad or terrible or anything - it's just that everything else is better. I guess I'll just leave it at that.

e: Security flaws? Don't blame IE - blame Windows. Besides, with a proper antivirus, you don't need wo worry about all but the newest threats.

I was bored...

Also ActiveX to be even possible to open in IE with default settings, ActiveX must have trusted certificate. But even if ActiveX have trusted certificates (usually means with certificate within original Windows, like from VeriSign) IE still warns you about that!

I always use IE and I'm fine with it.

I myself only use firefox to test PHP scripts and to visit sites that I don't really trust that much.

eh.

The 64 bit IE on windows xp 64 bit is lightning fast. But that one sadly doesn't support plugins like flash and java. #w{:<}

The are lots of security problems with it, and it's slow.Free counters!
Speed and quality are absolutely brutal on IE. The day IE is able to compete with any realistic browser, in terms of speed, quality, and its ability to interpret varying codes, is the day I become a Leafs fan again.

By the way that is never going to happen...

It's slow, it's buggy, a virus catcher and utterly sucks at interpreting HTML/CSS.

Coding something in HTML/CSS, viewing it entirely fine in Firefox and Chrome and then realizing that it's completely messed up in Internet Explorer is extremely aggravating.
Go here in ThatThingMicrosoftMade, then go there in chrome/firefox. If that doesn't convince you, I don't really know what will.

Also: ThatThingMicrosoftMade sucks because it broke the internet. Due to the fact that it came with most computers, that is what most people were using for a long time (and still do to some extent), so web developers had to try to make the internet conform with ThatThingMicrosoftMade6, making it not work with most other browsers, because those browsers actually follow web standards, which ThatThingMicrosoftMade blatantly ignores. Very little improvement has actually been made for ThatThingMicrosoftMade in the past 10 years, and I personally don't expect it to improve in the future at all.
