Eh, it would be fun to hear.

Hey, didn't aqualakitu use ExGFX when (s)he put that flower-thing in front of the walkthrough dirt, after coming out of the pipe from the hidden underground level? They're not even the same tileset. I checked, and it's flat graphics; they're both on Layer 1. What's up with that?

Not that I want him/her to loose. That level is friggin' amazing. As I said before, an entire hack consisting of levels such as this would astound even Nintendo. The HDMA foolery was great; I actually thought it was that until I opened up the ROM in Lunar Magic.
Still here, I guess. Despite all odds.
Hm? You were allowed to mix tilesets. The only real constraint was that you could not edit any of the original graphics, but you could mix and match them.

Also, Argumentable sure lives up his name~
No, I mean how there were those flower thingies superimposed on the walkthrough dirt. You know, in front of it. And it couldn't have been in the original SMW, because it was a mix of two tilesets.
Still here, I guess. Despite all odds.
I did use ExGFX. And I am sure pretty much everyone did. I just didn't use custom graphics.
I just copied that plant and pasted it into the grassland tileset, and then drew the dirt colour around the flower. That was allowed.
Hunh. I never knew.
Still here, I guess. Despite all odds.
Yeah, it's getting harder and harder to tell what the word "vanilla" actually means. I was always under the impression that ExGFX wasn't vanilla, until the contest. The rules were the same for everyone though, so it's not like any of it was unreasonable.

You also could have used one of the layer 2 level modes, placed the flower as layer 1 and the dirt tile as layer 2.
Hey, would someone care to LP my contest entry or something? I want a bit more feedback on what i've done.

If you're below 80, I've at very least played it, I've got up to ... 76? Uploaded. Otherwise, if you want I can play yours next. I have a fair few to upload on my computer, mind, but...

Vanilla is misleading anyway. It's not a vanilla contest, it's a level design contest using vanilla resources. That's why mixing and matching vanilla graphics is allowed. These levels are closer to some choco hacks than vanilla ones but they only use vanilla resources.
Thanks to everyone who participated this year. The choco contest will likely come around in August/September for those who want to show off just how far they can push SMW.

Should be interesting to see some of the creations now that 1.71 is out!
