I think he actually deleted it. .___.
Occording to what he told me.
#w{x(}

Decided I'm not letting Ixtab get to me. BTW is it true that the good commetns are because I'm new? Does anyone else think it's mediocre?

Wait... You almost deleted your hack because Ixtab said something negative about your hack (not even that negative really)? She/He says negative things about everyone's hacks (:P at Ixtab), you really need to learn to take criticism a little better man, just because one person says they don't like your hack doesn't mean you should quit. That's just plain silly.

Anyways, to make this post pertain to the hack as well as your self awareness, I don't particularly like it. It's not bad in any way shape or form just not particularly interesting to me. Of course, the main reason for this is I can't stand people using YI graphics, as they are epically overused, and were kind of boring in YI to be brutally honest (the only way I could be more annoyed by your GFX would be if they were SMB3). I also don't like hacks that use Mario as the main character (OR LUIGI!), or any other well established Nintendo character... Not trying to get you to change, just stating my opinion. Actually, if you just spruced up Mario's graphics a bit and made it fit better in YI graphics it would really make this hack much more interesting, as is it really seems to clash quite a lot in graphic styles. Beyond that, the level design is decent, and the "trailer" made me laugh a little. So I would say keep working on it, you are definitely on the right track, I'm sure you will get much better the more you hack.

Well that's just silly. You shouldn't treat someone differently depending on how many hacks they have made...

Thanks! That level (that the Bob Omb is in) is called Goonie Hills. It's not finished yet- neither is world 1-1, 1-5 or 1-6.
And as I said before - this sh*t ends now! By that I mean NOW.
At about :38 in the video, the ball with the arrows has a really weird palette IMO. Consider adding to its palette (if it's palette D, the last half is unused and you can add colors to it and recolor the ball with YY-CHR.) Also looking closely, it lacks an intermediate frame so it disappears briefly. o.o Tile 4C of GFX00 is x- and y-mirrored and would be used in this frame, if you wanted to draw it in

While the Fishin' Boo boss is cool, the whole "dark curtain" in the room is odd when you can see windows and specks in front of the foreground and Fishin' Boo as he moves, and the lights suddenly come back on before fading out again, and I think just using a dark palette instead + removing this curtain will work nicely for this room.

Now for the level design itself, I don't really understand the purpose of the room with the two Shy Ghosts and the Milde in it that you enter through a vertical pipe. It just seems to send you back further/be filler. D:

Otherwise, the level is solid, though, kinda short. It's an early level though, isn't it? So, I can understand, although, forts should be a little trickier IMO. Extend it a little, add some pitfalls. ;)

Lastly, the castle music does not loop properly; it ends too soon, though the intro is correct... I assume at least one channel ends before the rest of them finish their course, so add [r1]100 to the end of channels that do not play through the whole channel. If you are not sure which channel(s) this/these are, trial and error.

Keep working on this hack. I took a quick glance through the rest of the thread and it's looking pretty clean so far.

Just look above you...
If it's something that can be stopped, then just try to stop it!

Thanks- although I disagree about the ball pallet- it is just the video- but I am aware of it disapearing. I said the purpose of the room with the ghost guys and the milde is a bonus room to earn points from defeating the enemies within it. I took this from YI. It is short because it's one of the first levels, whereas DK's fort in world 2 is a lot harder! I didn't make the music- so can't be blamed for that, although I noticed that error. Before the demo- I think it's best that you take a look at the hack- to improve on it. What do you say- I'll send you stuff if you want? You could always help out with this- what do you say?

i really thrusted Ixtab, that he would learn after his previous attempt of trolling us.
#w{=(}

anyways, the level looks nice, the only problem is the weird loop spot in the music.

I might put some sort of signature here once. I guess.

Yeah IK- before the demo, CDPower will fix it I think. She's incharge of music. For Bowser's castle- I'll use a piano mix of the fort theme. Oh, U know the KB boss? Instead of the koopa bros- I decided to use a big lantern ghost instead. It is 32x32 and just walks around getting faster, dropping those hopping fames from his lantern as he goes. Can you do that?

EDIT: Finished! W 1-1: Let's Go, Mario!

sounds like the same as the DK boss :P you might be able to only change the graphics and then make it be that boss :P

Yes but it spawns hopping flames intead- they are small flames that jump from side to side and hurt mario. I'm a noob at ASM, so it might be better if you edited the boss- what do you say? I think I PM'd you with the gfx. Anyways, how's the screenshot.

the screen looos nice.
the odd thing is the small bump out of the floor. it looks really weird.
(i didn't get any PM containing graphics)

The bump is just hilly grassland I think. Correct me if I'm wrong somebody. Oh, I'll PM you the GFX now then. #w{:>}
I really like the palette of the new screen; that green in the FG against the purple trees of the background is a pleasing combination. Also, I will be happy to test the hack if you want, and I'll help you/CDPower out with fixing the music if need be.

Just look above you...

I'll disregard jery's subtle attempts to make a mockery of me by assuming I was "trolling". Anyway, I'm going to have to agree with Kyo, the palette is slightly above average. I can see why a personal preference leads her to like it more than others. I would have gone with just shades of green but the fact you've used 2 contrasting colors in unison give me a more informative view of your skill, at least concerning palettes. That being said, the black and white thing looks awfull in comparison to to the nicely ripped YI graphics. I would advise you to change it.
The pattern of the yellow block leads one to think there s an item in between. However, there is nothing there-- leading to just another bland arrangement of blocks. I would suggest either putting an item there or removeing the upper 2 rows. Also, if I'm not mistaken, having coins directly on top of bounce blocks (if you don't know, bounce blocks are any block that has any sort of bounce in them, not just a music block) causes an invisible coin block glitch. If I'm wrong disregard that, although I've never been very fond of placing coins directly above solid objects. I feel it adds a better playing experience to make the user jump. When thinking about the mechanics of playing hacks, or any game for that matter, it's usually best to have the player more engaged, aka making them press more buttons. Of course you don't want to over stimulate them with a button smashing spam fest, but little subtlies like this truly do count toward the overall enjoyment factor. If I would have to rate it would be 5/10.

Now onto the ghost castle or whatever unispired name you gave it--
actually I don't feel like typing much more so I'll get straight to the point
-too short
-dumb boss
-too many enemies
-not enough variety
-not appealing to the eyes
rate: 3/10

-what are you talking about. this is what makes a hack fun: difficulty
-i will say to you that i do not find that. too many variety can cause confusion.
-i have to disagree with this statement. i find the palettes good.

also i think in the turn blocks, you could find that springboard

also, this is koopinator's first hack. its is incredibly inpressive for a first timer. if you would just stop criticizing

look at the thread.
look at what everyone said about this.
think about most first-timers being crap.
think again.

i will ask you nicely to leave this thread alone. it is fine to criticize this, but you should give out help to improve it, if you do.

thanks.

If you want my opinion- which you are about to get if you like it or not- I think you enjoy critisising on my work. But the critisism is uncalled for and I for one definatly don't deserve it- if you got a problem with my 'dumb boss' take it up with whoever made it, because it may have escaped your notice but I don't do asm! If you don't have anything nice to say- don't say it!! or why don't you start giving someone else this bashing that you give me! #w{>=(}
"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"

Unfortunately, that doesn't apply to the smwhacking experience. There are ALWAYS gonna be people who aren't fond of your work, and you just have to deal with it and suck it up. Also, assuming Ixtab hasn't made a hack is ignorant and for the most part not making the situation any better.

Your hack is decent for a beginner's, but you should listen to some of the criticism, and at least consider it. Even if It's not as "nice" or "beginner friendly" as you want it to be.

Fine! I'll take that out- *takes it out* But I take critisism- but not such an un-necisary bashing as I am given.

exactly. he doesn't say anything how you can change it.
its like 'you should find out yourself'(just like my brother says)
well screw it. if someone says something like that to me, i won't change anything for them.

if he still is going to criticize my boss, or the length, or even saying its boring or bland, or even not thinking though his criticism, i will contact a mod or admin, because for a first sprite, it is incredible.

i find this not bland, nor boring.

he says it IS this or that, not i FIND it this or that.

anyways, lets just move on and ignore any of these kind of things.

You know, I think it would be best if you leave. All you've done toward me is reject my opinions, when in fact you yourself aren't giving any criticism. And no, I will not give him "extra credit" because this is his first hack. I'm surprised you of all people don't believe his ability and are merely going off "his first hack". That's just down right shameful. Anyway, had you actually read my post you would see that I not only affirmed his palette making skills and decisions, I also informed him of a possible glitch. And in my opinion difficulty is not what makes a hack fun. For you, yes, but not everyone. Why you would even think to comment on my criticism is absurd. Do you really feel your opinions are better than mine? That I'm nothing compared to you? This is the exact connotation I mentioned in the asm showoff thread that you're giving yourself. What? You think your shit is golden?

And Koopinator, of course I love criticising. I would like for every hack I play to be a fun and enjoyable. Also, I've many several hacks that were never released, if you must know, and I actually "bash", as you call it, everyone. You're nothing special, just like everyone else. I don't know why you constantly think I'm attacking you. Please re-read the post again and tell me exactly where I "bashed" you. Send it in a PM because this is not the palce for it anyway.

oh jery ninji'd me...
jerry: cry more :P

ok man. think.
what i have ssen you do, is picked up by some people(including me) as trolling.
i do not see anything you say to help him.
its fine to criticize, but give help.

but, its my fault i can not get to my point... i have some problems, mainly thanks to my autism. it causes me having really tight limits.
sorry if you can not get my point, but i hope you can. :(

but:
"jerry: cry more"
is what is picked up by me as having no answer to give me at all.
meaning you think i am right.

you are starting to look EXACTLY like my brother, which i find extremely annoying. PLEASE!

Hey, jerry, Ixtab, I think it would be best to kindly excuse yourselves form this thread for a while if you know what I mean.
