some news sites/stations are saying it's 6.9

A couple of SMWC users like anonimato live near that zone, I hope he's alright, I was in east county San Diego visiting family for easter and we got a good 6.4 out of that here, knocked things off the shelves and we got 8 aftershocks in the past hour and a half. We're all fine here in California though.

Jeez, a lot of earthquakes have been occurring lately, and it's no surprise that there would be one in California. (And no surprise for me that it's a magnitude 7.2.... I swear I see the number 72 (or its variants) everywhere).
Well, earthquakes occur along fault lines obviously and other places like Volcanoes etc. Everywhere we've heard of an earthquake strike occurred on one, Chile, Haiti, Japan, Venezuela, this one in Mexico, they're just a natural cycle both large and small quakes. Every year there are 15-20 magnitude 7.0+ quakes on earth, more and more people are just noticing them because they happen in more populated areas. This was the largest quake in California since the Northridge quake in Los Angeles in 1994. Despite this being the biggest quake I've been in, it doesn't surprise me that we got one, I'm not one of those people who panic and scream OMG WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!!!!! I'm more concerned about the victims if there were any.

Yeah I remember you guys all talking about this on the IRC today. Most of what I remember was something like, 'AAAAAAAAAAAAAA' but whatever.
And also, Ladida was wondering why he hadn't felt the quake yet. I wonder if he has by now or it just never happened.

Poor Carol must have been killed by that tsunami too, amiright?

yeah, i'm fine, the damages here arent bad at all, seeing how a wall at my side almost collapses was weird.
i've never seen an earthquake of this strong in san luis r.c. (where i live)
the only problem was some problems in the energy plant and anyone was able to see the classic soccer game chivas vs america and we got no energy for some hours.
also Sears almost collapsed and today it was in fire (so no more sears).

i think the most damaged area its mexicali (baja california's capital)
I do pixels sometimes
Yeah I just got a call from family members in Mexicali finally, they said their phones weren't working for a while, a couple of their windows broke, and they didn't have power all night, luckily they're all fine.
