Well, I sit in one spot, set the rewind and savestate buttons to be EXTREMELY easy to use, and I endure all the pain I can, until I am done.
Originally posted by Sadistic Designer@LegendaryMMAT: I've played your hack, and didn't really like it. The length of the levels was lacking, the switch palace was unedited, the screen wouldn't scroll properly... generally it wasn't fun.
Those muncher blocks are genius, they replace flunchers AND look nintendy-childish-like. As long as you don't stack and spam them (like you unfortunately did..) you are in the clear. But you just had to spam them.
The P-switch trap in the castle isn't fun, although it is pretty easy to figure out. Give players a hint of some sorts.
Well, I think that creates a decent impression. I must say it is really typical for a first hack, I might just for funzies release my first level ever made (reskinned, ofcourse). It's as bad as you'd expect (anybody who wishes to shout in my face for making a horrible level let me know, I might just actually release it).
Therefore I dislike releasing old (and bad) levels, like you said they are poorly designed. The graphics are neat, I might just steal them, but the levels are a waste of time. And as Kaizo is all about level design, this hack is horrible.
So what your saying is, my graphics are awesome, but the hack itself sucks. Yeah.
Well, it is based off of a sucky hack anyway... Hacks, rather. But I thought it was an actually GOOD remake. I am a really impatient Kaizo hacker, as you know, so I'll always make short hacks. The levels are more like trials than anything, you could say.
But at least you like the graphics, I worked pretty hard on a lot of stuff, and I'm most proud at the munchers and the phoenix feather.
So the final outcome of this hack, as I assume:
-Irritating at the first level, got easier
-Good graphics
-Boring gameplay
-Lack of effort
That tells me a lot, really. Custom graphics ARE better than ripped ones, so I'll use more of those; I need to use WAAAAAAY more effort in my hacks; I can actually make overworlds, but without events
; I need to balance out the use of elements in the game, like death blocks and platforms.
I'm both happy and sad now...
I guess I can always stay a graphics designer?
