Well, I have decided to make one final SMW Hack before I have almost no time to even come to this site anymore. It will be a few levels (4?), no music (since I forget how to insert it and I don't have time to read a tutorial), probably just going to use the basic ideas for SMW Hacking (consider it a short Kaizo III without the stacked and floating munchers or the Japanese Text).

On another note, I beat Kaizo, again.
Good, a new hack! You might want to check the posts of ?last month? to avoid extreme similarities, but if you're that low on time this is not a good idea. I'm extremely curious after you said 'basic ideas for SMW Hacking', I'm expecting something creative yet common now :)
Of course you should fight fire with fire, you should fight everything with fire.

Oooh look at my userbar!

i just started a new kaizo hack, called 'choose kaizo'
it is basically a hack that has 7 levels on the overworld, from medium to insane. you can freely walk around to choose the difficulty of your liking.

#w{=)}

I might put some sort of signature here once. I guess.

We don't like joke hacks... at least I don't. Somebody (I forgot who) made it very clear joke hacks are not to be submitted to the hacks section, which is entirely different from the Kaizo section. Can we please agree on a similar rule here?

I've been thinking about the concept of giving the player the option to choose the difficulty, but I think a certain amount of 'pushing' is needed in a hack. Also I consider it much more fun if you encounter difficult and easier within the same level (KEEP DIFFICULTY CURVES IN MIND).

Well, I'd like to see what happens with this one. If the easier levels are ridiculously easy you could even submit it to the hacks section, as long as no levels are mandatory to beat (meaning yoshi's house will make the credits appear, lol)

On a side note: Seeing as last year's Kaizo Contest ended almost halfway through May and I am an impatient person I'm thinking of releasing my hack before the deadline of the Kaizo Contest, but I'm not really sure yet. There are a lot of arguments against doing this, but at least as much to release it straight away. Don't expect anything, but I might just release something soon.
No, there won't be a demo.

Well, hack is very easy in terms of difficulty. I wanted to make something like Puzzle World. I made that. Dotsarecool cannot even beat first level. If you don't know glitches this hack isn't to you.

EDIT: I could get Teh Hack in Hacks section (which is entirely joke, so I think it's no problem)
... I got tricked....

Nice one!

Just out of curiosity, is there any Japanese text makers (for the text message boxes, level names, etc.) out there? If so, this will give me a great opportunity to create Kaizo Mario World 3. If not, then I will just probably make a creative kaizo hack.

Note: I just recently watched Super Puzzle World 3, and LeChuck has use many of my abuse of glitching and forms of tricks that I was going to use in my hack! (Like level 1, where you have to get a bonus game)

Note 2: If i can't find a Japanese text maker of some sort, should I create an English version of Kaizo 3?

Note 3: If I can't make Kaizo Mario World 3, I am going to need some title names.

Carry on.

Yes.

Also, to actually give the post some content, I TAS'd Pit of Death a few days ago. (Even though I didn't beat the fastest time.)

@PangeaPange: I'm not really sure what you precisely need but Ixtab is quite well-known for translating Japanese to Engling, perhaps she can be of help?

Also it's going to be hard to be creative with glitches, like I said I have high hopes despite what has been released already.

As for Glitch Mr.: I've just beaten your hack and the length is a bit disappointing. The glitches are very creative, but not hidden. This makes them quite easy to figure out, it's more of a walkthrough for those glitches than an actual puzzle.

Edit: real, ultimate POWER!!!

@Patgangster: Nice TAS! Sure brings back memories.

What I meant by Japanese text is being able to write Japanese characters in the message boxes, level names, etc. like in Kaizo. In Kaizo, there are no English letters, so I wanted to be able to write in Japanese. If not, then I will just make an English version I guess.

Which hack? Springboards And Shells was mainly a hack abusing the use of springboards and shell-jumping as well as some other well-known glitches (like abusing the P-switch as well).

Item abuse was meant to abuse all the glitches that I can fit in into my level. I wasn't trying to hide any of the glitches. I just wanted you to be able to execute the desired glitches. (Apparently some people found some ways to cheat some of the rooms in my hack D=)

Also, I am not that great in coming up with some puzzle levels. I will analyze how LeChuck's Super Puzzle 3 and try to cough up some ideas (even though he took some of my pre-made ideas I was going to use in World Of Pain, but that's what I get for being inactive for so long).
Perhaps try searching for a Japanese version of LM?

User "Glitch.Mr" has made a glitch hack and released it today, I was commenting on that.

As for Item Abuse: I don't think a lot of glitches there were 'well-known', creating problems #w{=P}. Also there is the eternal problem that if you make a puzzle hack and at any point use the block factory glitch or force the player to keyjump, P-jump, walljump or any other relatively insane glitch the player will from that point on assume it was intended to be spammed and break multiple levels (and enjoy willingly breaking levels too, as far as personal experience goes).

As for creating puzzle levels; I might be able to give you a clue on that. Start with an intended solution and move as many seperate segments of the glitch away from eachother. (for example: Yoshi-springboard clipping. Spread a spring, baby yoshi and 5 items to feed throughout the level and reverse the order you meet them in.) Now place as many useless items in your level as possible, and make sure none come for free (make a tough segment or force the player to give up one item to obtain the next). This already makes for a decent puzzle level, although this is likely to be broken using the 'useless' items.

In case you don't feel like putting lots of useless items into your hack, don't worry. Very often the amount of items you can place in a level without giving birth to breaks is one or none at all.

Totally unrelated sidenote: I #w{<3} Item Abuse

Oh, my bad for misunderstanding. I can't believe I missed that.

I guess, but the intention was to make it the hardest / longest SMW level made, but using some of the glitches / tricks to pass on to the next room.

Thanks. I appreciate it. Although I don't want it to be so much as a puzzle level. I only want one or two real puzzle levels (like in Kaizo Mario World 2, the switch palace was kind of a puzzle level), since I have decided to make Kaizo Mario World 3.

Eh, I can always go back to springboards and shells!

Thank you sir ^^.

On a side note, if anyone can find me a Japanese Lunar Magic, I would greatly appreciate it ^^.

Why a Japanese Lunar Magic? I'm quite sure that Lunar Magic is compatible with Japanese SMW ROMs.

Well I just need an editor that can insert Japanese text or characters into messages, level names, etc. I thought a Japanese Lunar Magic would have that ability, since it is, Japanese, after-all.
