oh, and that with those munches i used was the normal way how to do it, i figured it wouldn't be possible to do it with the muchers below the mushroom

Hm, somewhat, I am so lazy... It, like my other hack, will be short, I am sorry, I'm really not good at designing overworlds, so that's why I make a lot of single level hacks... But it will be hard, fun, whatever, expect a lot of kittens.

Well that makes me look like a hypocrite... Well, I've improved since EJL, learned how to abuse YY-CHR to where I can put deathblocks anywhere I wish without it looking like total crap, and I've learned how to use the P-Jump glitch... regardless, I'll still use a lot of my previous elements; shell jumping, precision jumping, whatever. I am sorry I am still using shell jumps, I just really love using it, it is one of my personal favorites in SMW Hacks (A note to all of you that want me to test your hack, SPAM. SHELL. JUMPS). I don't get why I am pretty much the only one to like them... they never get old :)

Anyway, I'll continue designing rooms in my hack, I am dissapointed to say that I only have 4 rooms finished... I'll start researching Kaizo glitches and popular hacks to learn a bit...

don't use well-known glitches too much. use the least known glitches(like the invincible yoshi glitch, chuck that can remove cement blocks, etc.)

If there is a throw block under a cement block, and a chuck, it will charge at the throw blocks, making it break, but also making the cement blocks break, or was it the other way around?

The thing is, I suck at enemy sprite placement... I'm more of "Your biggest problem is yourself" hack kind of guy. I barely know how the double Yoshi glitch works, so I've been testing it on a lot of crap, and found out that it works with a bunch of other sprites... You all probably knew this... But, regardless, it should eventually spark some ideas for me...
But anyway, the charging Chuck glitch seemed pretty obvious, it should work with a ton of combination of blocks, anyway...

Completely unrelated to this topic, I think they should make an SMW sprite with the physics of that of the Portal Gun (Portal, Orange Box). I could think of a thousand instances where that would make an insane Kaizo hack... I mean, really, think about it.
There are plenty of obscure glitches out there, if you need help on that let me know (but then again that would mean I would know some of the elements in your hack).

I still dislike shell jumps :P

Now to make this post not completely worthless: I've been making some good progress on my Kaizo hack, but I'm a bit disappointed as a certain section is only 3 screens wide, but frustrating as hell. I'm worried that the last level is so hard it won't be fun anymore, unless people start using slowdown which defeats the purpose.

When breaking a hack the first thing you look for is portable sprites, so watch out with those LegendaryMMAT. I'm using some pretty obscure glitches with only the very basic elements of SMW (a floor, a mushroom, a Pow, that sort of stuff) where one portable sprite has major influence...

i only use slowdown when it is a really frustrating and perfect jump.

(i need some inspiration for two hard puzzles i can put in a switch palace... youtube is my friend :P)

Edit: I've played through 'Kewl Kaizo' and I have a few comments:

1) Why shelljumps and keyjumps...? Those keyjumps make it a Pit-hack rather than a Kaizo hack
2) You force the player to use the block factory glitch
These two would make your hack rather hard, but some sections are really easy. The difficulty curves are way off.

Most things look fine, I don't have a lot of comments on the graphics. A minor problem is that the blocks don't blend in together well, and grey cement blocks are ugly. But with some Map16 and YY-CHR this can easily be fixed.

The real problem is that certain sections are easy and can easily be broken, where other sections are near impossible without slowdown (I went through the first series of keyjumps without slowdown, but I started using it when you forced the player to keyjump AGAIN).

Also your hack contained nearly no original elements, nearly everything was taken directly from other hacks...

Have you playtested through it without slowdown?

To summarize: I didn't really like your hack as you combined Pit-style elements (mid-air spring jumps, P-jumps, Keyjumps) with easy sections, and I have done everything in your hack already sometime in the past. I don't feel what you have created so far adds anything to this thread, but the graphics are decent so try to keep improving.
