[A bit of info about the hack itself]
This is an untitled side-hack, started some weeks ago.

The purpose for each level will be to collect from 15 to 50 colored Yoshi's eggs ; if do so, the level will finish automatically.

Since the first levels contains only 15 eggs and are 3 screens-long, I will give screenshots of the entire levels.

[Story]
(Note : Story isn't totally finished yet).
Our favorite plumber, Mario, receives an urgent phone call from a Yoshi named Polata, who ask him to take a boat to an island called St.Ivo, know for its Yoshi Egg nursery, where, last night, a strange explosion destroyed the north wall, and all the Eggs were gone...
They are now scattered throughout the island, but by following a specific route.

Mario decides to follow this route, taking up the eggs scattered throughout the island, and to discover who (or what) is behind thoses stranges events.

[Enough talk, here comes Screenshots]

Comments ? =D
Very simple idea and this hack looks like it can go far!
I will be watching this thread. :D
Sounds good, I like the idea.

This will be a hack I'll have to play.
The egg hunt?

Anyway, not a bad idea!
As the others have said, the basic concept works well here.
I assume that the yoshi eggs are swaps of the coins, and then you have the end level on coins block.

Well either way, it's a pretty great idea, and so far it looks good.
I only have two suggestions to give you:
1) Use more decoration if possible.
2) Use custom palettes.
Especially number two. This will make your hack look so much better.
And don't forget, use Alt+Right click on the two colours you want to make a gradient between.

Wow, that's a pretty neat-o concept and plot. The design looks good, but definitely, as Kristian said, use some custom palettes.
Your layout has been removed.
Maybe you could use some enemies to make it harder?
I don't like the hidden note block in Ivo Caverns 1.
Reminds me of Yoshi's story a lot.

How about having some eggs be custom sprites? They wouldn't move apart from being subjected to gravity, so they could be placed upon blocks that are solid or not depending on the on/off switch..

Are there going to be enemies in levels?
1. I hope there are going to be enemies in later levels.
2. Sounds a lot like the Coin Hunt to me.
3. Custom palettes would be a plus.

I'll probably download this soon after it's release.
Hello there, here is my new blog. I will usually update it every day.

1. You're right about the Eggs, they acts like regular coins. But the level ender will be a generator.
Since they (eggs) eat up lots of space on the level I can't put a lot of decoration.
2. I'm planning on that.
3. Thanks, I never know about that gradient thing.

Okay. Can you suggest something else ?

Are there going to be enemies in levels?

1. I just realised that. %)
2. I may not use On/Off solid/passable blocks. I fail at ExAnimation. I'll try, though.
3. Good idea.

Thanks alot for the feedback, everybody, I wasn't expecting that much.
I'm currently working on Level 3.

Also, about ennemies, I may use some, in later levels. I prefer using hazards, though (munchers, lava).

I think he meant that he didn't like how it was in the middle of nowhere. Maybe give a little hint that there's something there?
@the exanimation question: if you want to i could do it since i know how to set up ExAnimation. all you need to do is just send me which one your gonna use then ill tell you the Exanimation frames.

Okay. I added custom pallettes and arrow signs to help the player. Example :

Also, some preogress on the story that I won't tell you because I'm a faggot.
I really hope you put some enemies into your levels...
also, one question... Does that lava on the right side kill you? Or does it act like a wall?

Also, zomg, your layout, its... broken :[

the words are a link to a big picture.
(oh my gawd, my layout !)
It's supposed to kill you, actually.
Also, for ennemis, I don't really want. Except ennemies tha can't be killed- Boos, or some tricky ennemies like chainsaws and fuzzies.
Because when you kill those ennemies, the level becomes way too easy.
---
Also, I'm making a bonus system- In the actual level, the eggs you collect are sotred in the coin counter- $0DBF. When you finish a level, the number of eggs you got are stored to the Bonus counter that will be 3-digit, and your coins are STZ'd. When you want, you can get to the first level- like Yoshi's house in SMW, and buy lives, useful items, easter eggs (hehehe), ect.

What do ya think ?
So you would be able to buy stuff using your bonus stars? Does that mean you would take out the regular bonus game?

For what you're doing, it might be easier to make a custom block that stores one more in the bonus counter, and then put that number into the coins when the level is over. Although you seem to know what you're doing.
Looks like I have a catch phrase :P

Try some custom palettes out, the originals make levels look cookie-cutter, even when they're not... in my opinion anyway...

The idea is neat, and it looks like it could be fun, as long as I don't suck at Mario too much :P (I am atrocious)Super Mario World Hacks 101
Maybe you could have unkillable custom sprites in your levels. That way you wouldn't have to have limited possibilities. Other than that, nice BG palette.

You could also use the Tweaker or another sprite editor to limit how enemies can be killed. ;)

Anyway, I really like this hack idea, it'd be great if Yoshi was the main character. Then it could be like: "Yoshi came back to his village only to find out the baby Yoshi eggs have been stolen! It's up to Yoshi to make sure they all hatch in a safe environment, and to find out who or what is behind this rotten egg scheme! (No pun intended)

Maybe it could be something like "[Yoshi's]Egg Emergency"

These are just suggestions, but if you use them please credit me.

I'll keep an eye out for demo's and updates, and I'd love to test this if you need people to. :)

I'm not saying I don't like your plot or anything, it's great and original!
(No current projects, lost them all.....)
