Super Mario World Hacks 101

I've been playing this for like... 5 minutes (?) now, and I've already noticed a fatal glitch.

BTW, you can make good custom corner tiles too!

Yeah. It's the not released as demo version.

I'm not gonna be home today so I'll have to fix these tomorrow... but I am curious how you did the last one... did you do the swim-through glitch?

Also... the first one, is there a custom block for that corner, or just for verticals?

And for the second one, I'm waiting on a BTSD version of the one-way block... there's only a BT version at the moment...

Also, the last area isn't called "Avoids," it's called "Other Ideas," and it's iittle message rooms with suggestions and tricks, and the bottom 5 are going to be full levels. The "Avoids" is the second row of the map, there. It wsa made for suggestions I had that couldn't make full levels.Super Mario World Hacks 101

I can give you a one way block I made myself.

Wait.. There should be a noLeft.asm and a noRight.asm included in BTSD. I got those. I don't know if they work though. But they're more optimized then mine.

Tell me if you can't find those. And I'll PM you the code for mine.
Oh, right, that first one... Didn't I mention that before?
Hm, must have slipped my mind or something.

PS I wouldn't really call it a 'fatal' error, but yeah, it should be fixed.

I'm making a video of the glitch. So you can see how I just WALK through the slope. Not swim.

There's actually a blocktool to BTSD custom block pack that gives you all 300 blocks ready to insert, but I can't find it on the site.

And also I know how to do 1 way corners, but what effect do you want exactly?

Off Topic: I did my first walljump in this hack and discovered my first glitch!

I can't even descibe how amazing this hack is! It's not only helpful, fun and informative but... Amazing! The palette work and Map16 wizardry working together in sync is great and the credits level (which I'm not going to spoil) is fun and creative! Wow. Just wow.
I will become alive again sometime soon.

Oh no! It was a glitch involving the key replacement level.
You can do this in any level where Yoshi can eat something.
What I did was I spinjumped off Yoshi and at the same time made Yoshi try to eat the key, then I did a super spin jump and Yoshi ate the key. I thought it was pretty cool.

Well, I took time to play this and I have to say I like it alot.
Your level design is great, you make excelent use of map 16.
Your palettes fit your levels and the music does too.
Loved the hints aswell. Never knew that about combining 2 colours with alt.
I really enjoyed playing it.

Only 2 things I want to suggest:

Maybe it's just my stupidity, but I got fooled by this. I actually tought it was solid and got me killed:

Its not a big deal tough.

And, never put 2 yoshi blocks at 1 screen like you did at the "end of demo level" in the first version.
If you do that and the player hits them both at nearly the same time 1 of the 2 yoshi's will glitch out (you can actually do a sort of teleporting glitch that could break a level if you know how).

Keep on going like this!

Okay, I have all the stuff fixed except 2 things... my 1Way blocks cannot be run up (does it need some Reloc offset or something?) And I can either make Sprites go straight through the wall, or not go through the wall either way... so what do I do to fix these things?

Also, I like the little gap there in that level, it keeps the player on his toes... plus, a trick every now and then isn't too bad, is it?

Palette update. Opinions on the palette and the added details? The now teal colored blocks are both layer priority enabled and disabled, and ones that would seemingly be impassible, are (see the top there)

I must say that this is a very innovative hack. I really liked the levels, as well as using layer 1 / 2 together, which made the levels look even more promising. I played the hack; it is well done. Nicely done Tails.

A good way to use post 900. :D
You can't complain about bad visuals with this hack. They are some of the most unique and inspired I've seen in a long time. Besides the errors I pointed out on the IRC, this hack is very promising, and it deserves its place in the Featured Hacks section.
