The best Anti-Virus

I saw Kaspersky is a good one and used it. I'd recommend it (If you want to pay for your anti virus).
I've had macaffee aswell (The enterprise 8.5i, don't ask how I got it :P). It doesn't detect all virusses but it sure runs lightly on the background (I didn't even notice it at all when it was scanning).

As for free anti-virus programs:
I used avast and AVG. They are both good. Tough I would recommend Avast over AVG. It might be heavier but it's nice. And I haven't found a normal way to shutdown AVG since version 9.0 (except for prompting it not to start it up at computer startup).

As for anti-spyware, I'd recommend spybot search and destroy, and spywareblaster.(It has a nice database of sites known for having alot spyware and also some unwanted and dangerous sites. It auto-blocks them in IE and firefox).

I'd recommend looking on the internet for some virus scanner comparism tests aswell. Especially if they got feedback on everything. That might make it easier to find a scanner that suits you.

1 last thing to this pretty long post: You can have multiple scanners, but then only 1 may be an active. The others have to be a scan & delete virusses only. Not a fully all time running program.

I'd never go for norton tough.

Might be a little late, but:

Symantec Norton: This is a spam program. It force installs on my comp. Aka, it's like a perfect virus! I don't use anti-virus programs that acts like viruses.

Kaspersky: This is a pretty good program. Never used it myself. But this is what I know, the ONE only "not-that-corrupted" anit-virus.

McAfee: I got this program with the comp I'm using right now. I couldn't figure out why the computer was so god-damn slow, then I noticed McAfee. I got AVG directly and uninstalled McAfee. Now my computer works fine ^-^

AVG: This is the only anti-virus I've used that I trust. It's free and all. Get it.

If you want something very thorough, go for Norton. It's worked great for me, but it costs money.

I'm sorry but I can't say this is true. We lost our internet connection yesterday, because of Norton. Windows Defender is more powerful, is cheaper and is more reliable in all my experience.

k norton has lost. who else?
I've never tried them but I think AVG is the best. Easily.

Dude, McAfee is awful! All it does is tell me constantly to activate it and it blocks all of the things I don't want it to. That's why I switched.
I have no idea what to change my layout it to...

If you download Microsoft security essentials it will replace windows defender by default and give you better protecttion.
Also use comodo firewall with it and it's almost unstoppable in a good way.

That sounds pretty cool.

AVG is good. I use a hacked version of Eset NOD32, and I haven't had a single virus EVER.

Who knows when I'll have
something to put here.

Credits go to Counterfeit for the bitchin' post layout.

Remember guys, just as abstinence is the best form of birth control, not using the internet is the best way to prevent viruses. Alternatively, you could get a vasectomy, or in terms of computers, install linux. Only difference is the latter one is free, painless, and doesn't involve your dick (hopefully).

I think I had to install Symantec on my computer just to be able to use most of the Internet stuff associated with the university. I had AVG before. But...does it cause any harm to have two anti-virus programs installed on one computer? That's what I've heard. I am curious to know more about Komodo, though; I've never heard of that one. Windows Defender I'm not sure about...I know I had it at one time, but I don't know if it's still on my computer or not.

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here. Progress: 64/95 levels.

To me, Linux is just kind of unstable (for me) and not very flexible when it comes to program choice. Even Wine can't do Lunar Magic fully functioning, and it also doesn't have the most programs to choose from (because most are for Windows). The reason Linux has no viruses (mostly) is because most people have Windows. In fact, more people have Windows than any other operating system right now. Because of this, Windows users are a biger target for viruses than any other operating system.

Just my thoughts.

That's not entirely true, Linux is also typically much smarter in allowing administrator/root access. And in terms of stability, it depends on what distribution you use. Use something like debian and you should have no problems with stability at all, and more frequently released distros typically aren't much less stable than windows. And if there ever is a large security flaw, because of the update systems in most distros and the community, these are fixed much quicker than in windows.

PS3 Linux has no games games, programs or anything for that matter.
And besides, another thing wrong would be getting rid of an entire operating system which you BOUGHT and can't get back and replacing it with something that may or may not be what you want for an operating system. If I had a computer that I didn't really give much of a care about, I'd install Linux on it, but I only have one crappy desktop. It just seems like it would be an unwise choice if you already have anything other than Windows Vista.

You are forgetting that you can partition the hard drive. And linux has lots of programs, they just usually aren't the ones that you're used to. I will agree that it is a bit lacking in games, but many games work great in wine, and id software has ported most of its games, as well as a bunch of indie developers.

I got a free version of Norton 360 with my laptop, its working good, but sometimes it detects Tracking Cookies I want. Oh well, on my old computer, AVG screwed up and died on me. I used PC Tools, until I got this.
My two favorites are McAffee(sp?) and AVG Anti-Virus. I currently use AVG and it runs regular scans. I currently have 17 'warnings of potential viruses' but no trojans or viruses yet.
Why not go to my Youtube channel?

I would have to say Norton. I been using Norton for a few years. (It's called getting the right Norton from the store. Not from the internet). I don't see how Norton puts virus's on the computer. (Everyone's views are different). Heres the Nortin I'm using "Nortin AntiVirus 2010 with Antispyware" The other included is "Norton Ultilities".

Sorry if I offended someone!
I'm tired.
