Hack Overflow

I have noticed that the submited hacks have risen up once again,
but since we have new hack mods, it shouldn't be a problem.

But im concered that there hasn't been much done about the increase in hacks,
even though we have alot more staff.
So should the submited hacks number be going down ?

I noticed that too. And some of the hacks; you just need to look at the screenshots and you know it should removed.
And why hasn't this been removed already? You enter Yoshi's House, the only accesible level, and the game breaks. >.>
Good fucking bye.
I know. I now regret dropping out for the Hack Mod picking. I wonder why there are always so many though. It seems that for every bad hack deleted, another 5 pop up even worse than the first one. Weird.
There are only a limited number of hack mods, while the user database grows every day, thus more potential hacks will be uploaded.

It creates perfect senses.

Plus, some hack mods are lazy and only moderate one hack every 3 days or something. *coughtotallynotmecough*
Meh, it's something that has and always will be haunting the Hacks section. The reason it takes so long is because even though some hacks are clearly not going to pass, the mods still have to go through and tell the author what's wrong with the hack. Granted, I do feel it should take less time for hacks to go through the process, but until there's either a decrease in poor quality hacks or hacking alltogether I don't think this is going to clear up.

There are a lot of people interested in only submitting their hack. That was my first intention when I first joined which is why I was lurking the first few months of my stay here. People don't think about the rules. They just submit their hacks because they don't have any perspective. And, as Ladida said, this site gets bigger all the time. It only makes sense that the number of crappy hacks that come in will increase exponentially.
I fail to see the problem in waiting for a hack to be moderated. I see this complaint coming up a lot, and I don't see the big deal. The moderators' lives don't revolve around you. They'll get to it when they have time. They don't get any type of compensation for playing through a lot of crappy hacks, anyway, so just give them time. They have no obligations to anyone. Keep in mind that they have lives, and many certain hacks could be particularly long.

If anything, taking too long to moderate a hack could be a good thing. The moderator may end up removing it anyway, so in that time during moderation, it's still there for people to download.

This is exactly the case of why I have moderated hacks (Yes, I've been picking away at reviews) lately. I've had so much homework, projects, and overall home maintenance lately that I have had hardly any free time at all. Luckily, my last essay assignment is due Friday, and we should be nearly done with our work at home, so I particularly shall be returning to the hack moderating once everything is over and done with. And, I personally am sorry for not being able to break the agenda and get hacks finished. It's just been rough the last few weeks.

I've never seen anything that said hack moderators have to tell the author everything wrong.
Well, they do. Take a look at the removal log; they have to be thorough.
I think he's referring to the Removals that consist of a single crappy snapshot, a witty insult, and a link to the Hack Submission Guidelines.

Well, sometimes it's just like, "What can I say?" When they've just done everything wrong, it's easier to just tell them to look at the guidelines and start over.
If it is generally an amazingly shitty hack (and I mean the worst of the worst), hack moderators can just remove it and PM the author with a "Please read the guidelines" thread. If it's only a half-shitty hack, then moderators will play through it and record the errors they find.

Technically, the hack moderators aren't obligated to do anything. They could just accept everything and we could be known as a site who has a compilation of garbage in their hacks section. Instead, we want to at least have some kind of standard, even if it's a bit higher than most other sites out there (and christ forbid, stop whining about how stuck-up this site is when your awful hack is rejected. Why don't you actually read the removal log and fix it instead of bitching? (directed at all of the bitchy people out there)).

...getting back on track, these things take time. That is pretty much the extent of it.
Hack moderators and alarm clocks helpers do not have 24/7 free time, you know?

Moderating a hack isn't an easy job. I once tried it myself and it's a tough job.
