Generic title I know, but trust me, this hack is unique. Interesting fact, after this hack I'm taking a couple months off of hacking to focus on irl stuff. I'd rather not get anymore into that. The plot is pretty simple, 5 golden Yoshi eggs were captured and hidden on the islands Mario is visiting. And I don't mean gold egg as in the gold egg you rescue after you beat a caste, I mean randomly hidden in levels there are Yoshi blocks with gold colored Yoshis you need to rescue. Gaining this Yoshi is the only way to access the secret exit in that level. So every time you see a red level, look for a gold Yoshi. After the secret exit is found a path starts to build on a seperate island on the OW. So, here's some screens and videos.
Level 1.
Level 2
Level 3
Level 4:
Down there is a Yoshi only access point, for the secret exit of course.
Now we can enter the area.
Level 5:
Hm, what's down there?
Hm, there is blockage in this passage
We must backtrack to the underground lands to find a way to pass.
Level 6 (WIP) :

Now for a fun fact. Those sky gradients you see are NOT HDMA sky gradients. They are VANILLA sky gradients. How is this possible you ask? Simple map16/palette work my friend.
I think this picture best explains it. (kinda big)
Using default map16 tiles, I make tiles with pure colors on them. Two colors for each tile. Considering palette 1 isn't used 90% of the time, I make a gradient with that palette in the palette editor. Then of course, paste it to the top of the BG. Along with one tile that is a solid color, being the rest of the sky. Again, the picture explains it better than I can.
So for some what of an extra treat, check out these Lunar Magic screenies.
Level 1's BG
Level 2's BG
Level 3's BG (This one is my favorite ^^)
