Yep. My French teacher talked about it last morning in class. Pretty terrible, earthquakes, and then especially when it's in an area which such a high amount of poverty.

I heard about this on the news. Pretty bad Earthquake expecially as Roy said, that there is such poverty there.Free counters!
In my news network they spend 2 minutes talking about it before moving onto icy roads.

Sigh.

Anyway, good luck to them.
Our <sarcasm>GREAT</sarcasm> governement is sending help (food, doctors, etc.) to Haiti. Ok, it's right to help other countries, but the governement should help OUR coutry first. The governement doesn't helps our country.

Well, i still feel sad for all people who lost their homes.
i just lurk sometimes
Reports say it was the worst earthquake in 200 years.Shame, they was plagued with flooding not to long ago and now they estimate over 100,00 people missing or dead.

It's REALLY sad.

Yeah, I read it in the newspaper two days ago. Our goverment is lending out three million euros if I recall correctly. Not sure.

The earthquake was terrible though. D:

yea i heard of ±13 dutchmen were there of which ±6 were found.
tragic...

I might put some sort of signature here once. I guess.
It's tough to imagine the great pain which have caused so many innocent people down there. I cant even start to imagine how I would be able to go on if my family would get killed. God be with them all, poor souls.

I can't believe that this happened to Haiti of all places.I would rather have it hit the U.S. or somewhere where it wouldn't do as much damage.
They showed the catastrophic satellite images of the destruction via Google Earth. Sad indeed... I wish I can go there and help out as well. I'm gonna try to donate sometime this week. They are in my thoughts and prayers.
I've seen this in the news on TV, I can't imagine how you could still live there normally for a while, but eventually, things will probably get back to normal again, I hope. Some people from Holland (where I live) were in Haiti after they got a child, and now the parents have died, and the child is still alive... :(
This has really been a depressing event. I heard a news report saying that there have been 200,000 lives lost, not to mention the casualties. Man, Haiti really needs all of the help it can get, and although we are obviously in economic troubles, I'm glad that the US and other countries are all pitching in to help out.

Supposedly, there are two main factors that led the destruction to be as bad as it has been:

The ground/soil there has always been uneven and of poor quality.

There was no universal building plan, leading to buildings being literally stacks of concrete in some cases.

Either way, I hope to see this situation get better with years to come.
Mother...There was ANOTHER eathquake.Man this is such a depressing thing for the people of haiti!

So they officially stopped the search and rescue. 200,000 dead, they only saved like 70. Most of the people they saved were under rubble for like 5 days and were still living, they really shouldn't give up just yet.

I think that these small islands are going to keep getting battered by natural disasters until they build a massive underground concrete bunker, or something.

edit: to house the people, not stop the disasters form happeneing.
God. I...I'm really sorry for these poor people.
