My Files (formerly the File Bin)

Link Thread Closed
Alright, here's the deal. The File Bin has been replaced with a new section called My Files. It works pretty much the same, except it only lists your own files. Now you can also sort by name, date, size and download count. You can view other people's files by clicking View in their profile.

Instead of letting everyone upload as much as they like, you now have 20 MiB of space each that you can use. You may upload basically everything and use it for basically everything, but I would like to request that you don't upload images that are displayed directly on high traffic websites. This doesn't mean you can't upload a file and link to it on some other forum. That'd be fine. But I'd rather that you didn't for instance uploaded an image to use as signature on a big forum, because that would mean everyone loaded the image every time they saw one of your posts, and I don't have that kind of bandwidth. Any use on SMW Central is completely fine, though.

I can, if you provide me with very solid reasons, increase your storage space and the limit on how big files can be, but as stated, you would need to provide me with some very good reasons. For the most part, I believe 20 MiB should be sufficient, and there were only 5 users (myself included) that exceeded this limit back when we had the old File Bin.
I like this. Not only do we have the ever-lasting lag solved for the most part, but it's also much more overviewable and easier to look into (or delete your own) files. A huge improvement over the old File Bin, well done.

Another fantastic idea implemented. I should definately have enough space for my maps, and a few pictures to boot. Thanks Kieran.

We'll just see about the lag. Time to upload thousands of 1-byte files!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO THEY CHANGED IT NOW IT SUCKS
Hm, I see that our current File Bin submissions are in My Files so that's good for a variety of reasons. I like this a lot better, since it's much easier to find things now (though we can't look through other people's stuff now XD), and the lag from the File Bin won't have to be endured.

A question, what is this MiB and KiB? The same thing as MB and KB?

(>_< I see I have used 35.78 MiB out of 20.00 MiB from my previous uploads. heheh. I considered cleaning stuff out in the past, but you guys said it would be fine. Oh well :\ I'll go clean it out when I have a chance)

EDIT: Oh, you can see other people's files in their bio. That's pretty cool, though it seems like it would fit better at the bottom of the page.

If I recall correctly, 1 KiB is 1024 bytes while 1 KB is 1000 bytes. Same for MiB, kind of.

1. Constructive criticism would be appreciated. You're making little sense.
2. Don't post in all-caps.
3. Don't keep up this habit of posting.

Thanks.

It's definitley better. It's easier to see, and less laggy.

I love it when I joke and they think i'm serious.

Though it kind of annoys me that you can't just go through the file bin while bored.
The problem is that we have users who would actually act like this, and you made no indication of sarcasm whatsoever. So in the end, you just made yourself look like an idiot. Congratulations.

As I said in another thread, this is a very good improvement over the old system. It is much more organized than before.
This was a job well done.

If users act like that seriously i'm hiding for my life. O.O

I like this but I do think a way to access the normal file bin should be in it.

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

Advertising Space

I like this. Now we can find our own files (and someone else' if we really like their stuff) and we won't be immediately bombarded with files that contain 9001 exclamation marks for people who are too lazy to Ctrl+F or want to bring more attention to something they can't achieve on their own.

Awesome idea, this is a LOT better than the file bin...which took literally 15 ninutes for me to load on my PC...even if i accidently clicked it.
Much better than the last, NICE WORK :D
I've learned the collective intelligence of the human race amounts to roughly that of a bar of soap.
In other news, why am I here.
Hey Kieran, do you think that at some point you could add a 'clear all files' option? Or at least one where you could select multiple files that you want to delete.
Possibly.
Ooh, nice. It certainly makes it a lot easier to find my own files. :D

Of course, now I can't randomly go through the File Bin and look at everyone's files...but I never did that anyway. :P
Your layout has been removed.

Well, you can always go to a random user's profile and view their files. Not that I do but just saying.

But, yeah. This is a more organized way of keeping files. Doesn't seem like my room anymore.*shot*

Jokes a side, good job.

What about people who have already exceeded the limit, like this one below?

Usage: 41.09 MiB of 20.00 MiB (205.43 %)
