Wouldn't a copy/paste be in order? Seems like it'd be easier to start with the old wiki then make an entire new one.
Copy-paste doesn't work; Incompatible formatting data etc etc.

You can't view the source of the SMWiki backup unless you want to see a crapload of HTML instead of wiki tags.

Then again, one can use the convertor mentioned on the main page of the current wiki.
