Replace Mario with Luigi

My apologies, as I did not think it was necessary to make a whole thread about this, but oh well. It's SMWCentral, any question goes.

As you probably guessed, I want Luigi to star in my hack because 1. He's awesome 2. I'm so sick of seeing hacks starring Mario. All I'm looking for is a simple pallete swap. You know, change Mario's pallete to match Luigi's. Anything of the sort, really. Any suggestions would be helpful.

NOTE: YES, I AM 100% AWARE OF THE LUIGI GAMEPLAY PATCH. However, the physics are pretty messed up; Luigi can jump over a whole screen with the press of the keyboard.

Edit: Thanks to Jorshamo for telling me that I CAN change the title of the thread.

Just use the palette editor in LM and copy Luigi's colors onto Mario's.
1, Welcome to the site, seeing that this is your first post.
2, High five for having a hack starring Luigi. Now, to edit the palette for the player, go into a level with an unmodified palette (If you don't know what this means, then you're okay. Just go into a level where you haven't modified the colors) and open the palette editor by clicking the button with a star on it in the toolbar. In the window that comes up, there should be a drop-down box that says "Mario Palette," or something similar. Click on it, and select "Luigi Palette." See that some of the colors changed? Those are the colors that the player uses. Click on each of the colors, and write down the RBG values for each one, then replace the colors for Mario with the ones for Luigi. After you're done, hit "Save colors to ROM," the save the level. Then try it in the emulator to see if it worked.
3, You can change the title of a thread when you edit the first post.

EDIT: Bah, Luigi-San, you ninja. But I gave a more detail answer, so there.
Your layout has been removed.
Hee hee hee, don't you just love the feeling when something works out perfectly? Thank you very much, Jorshamo. You too, Luigi-San

One last question: Although I'm using a separate "cursor" for the overworld, for future reference, how would I change Mario's overworld "cursor" to match Luigi's?

If it's just a palette swap just change colors 3 and 4 and palette A on the OW palette editor. If you want to make a alternate looking OW character just open GFX10 with yy-chr.
Thanks, ninja boy. But you missed colors 6 and 7. So it's colors 3-7 of palette A on the overworld. Thanks to everyone for all your help. That is all I needed to know!

But wait, there's more!

The Mario Start must be changed to Luigi start, as well as the file names Mario A, etc. The first can be done via hex edit in the rom map, I think, and the latter must be done via the Misc. Text Editor in the Tools section.

Thanks for your concern, but I already anticipated this and changed those things on my own. However, I ran into one final problem. The "Course Clear" card. I REALLY need help with this one!

if your meaning for the Course Clear do you mean you want it to look like Luigi's name above it? if so then you have to download YY-CHR and open up GFX28.bin then look at it with 2BPP GB then your gonna see Mario and Luigi's Name so copy Luigi's name and put it over Marios

Hacks I Support:

Yes, that's exactly what I meant! Everything worked out perfectly! Now I know how to make a hack with Luigi in it, which is pretty awesome. Thanks everyone!
