General Mario Games Thread

Can't wait for this game. Hopefully the game is as hard as they say it is because NSMB was way to easy. I'm glad to see that the koopalings are back, but one thing I dislike is that they just remixed NSMB music.
Actually, there are gonna be some new tracks in this game, from what I've heard. Also, some new interesting info to point out (there might be some spoilers here):

-World 3 is now ice, world 4 is now tropical/ocean, and world 5 is now forest. Aside from that, the world themes are the same.
-The world maps are more intricate and varied than the ones in NSMB. World 2's even scrolls vertically.
-If an enemy catches you on the world map, you'll have to play a mini-level that's crowded with that same type of enemy. You'll have to collect all the "Toad Balls" to leave.
-In the tower level of each world, you'll face the world's Koopaling in a fairly simple battle. Once defeated, the Koopaling will retreat to the world's castle. When you face him/her there, Kamek will appear and cast a spell to make the fight tougher in some way.
-Larry is the world 1 Koopaling, Roy is apparently the world 2 Koopaling, and Lemmy is the World 3 Koopaling.
-From what I saw in a video, Princess Peach's castle is apparently playable. There was a spot in front of the castle on the map, and it wasn't just the starting arrow spot like on the other maps. I wonder what it's for...
-This game also has an item reserve system, but it's more similar to SMB3's than SMW's. You can build up a large number of reserved items on the overworld, rather than just one, but they can only be used while in the overworld, not in the levels themselves.
-Toad Houses are back, but they feature actual minigames, instead of NSMB's simple ? blocks. For example, red Toad Houses feature matching card games like in SMB3, but the "cards" are actually climbing gate doors. So, to flip each one, you'll need to climb up to it and punch it to see what item it has. If you find a matching item card, then you get that item in your OW collection.
It's nice to see these new features, like the boss fights where Kamek appears like in Yoshi's Island.
Or the SMB3-style fights.
Nintendo appearently tries to implement some old and new ideas. Good to see that, and I hope to see that the game gets more challenging.

Games nowadays are just far too easy.
Given the fact that there's an option to let the game control your character to get you past a part, if it's too hard for you, tells me that this game is actually going to be hard. I can't wait!

I hope what you heard is true because in my opinion the NSMB soundtracks weren't that great.
There's definately new tracks. Compare the NSMB opening music with the NSMB Wii one. Also, the Super Skills movie features a winter version of the main theme, a volcanic underground theme, and apparently different beach and desert themes.

Personally, I'm waiting for the new arrangements for the sky world and this Gunstar-Heroes-like theme.
Your layout has been removed.
2 more weeks! Can't wait. :D

I wont get it when it's released because:
- Games are expensive in Mexico (75 bucks for a wii game = no)
- They don't sell games where I live.
- For me to get a game, I'll need to tell my cousins to buy it for me and wait until they send it with someone.

*sadness*

Bad news is, you can only use the Wiimote, no classic, no gamecube. Oh well. Atleast some reviewers say the controls are confortable. And you can't take Yoshi to other levels besides the ones he's in.

Good news is, the game isn't a port of the DS version as many people thought. And it IS harder than NSMB DS. But not as much as lost levels (or contra. for the matter). Also, theres no optional worlds like 4 and 7 in the DS game. But still skip cannons.

And I really don't care about the music. I just want the game. :P
In a certain way, not being able to keep Yoshi is a good thing. It's less confusing and it adds to the difficulty.

This looks....Pretty awesome to say the least. I was somewhat skeptical when i first heard about it, right around this year's E3, and seeing these trailers, it seems like Nintendo took advantage of the Wii's capabilities, (and not being on a handheld :P ) The new powerups look awesome, the levels look vivid and colorful, Just like the original NSMB, and the 4-player Co-Op is an awesome addition to it all. But if i don't hear a remixed edition of SMB's original overworld theme outside Toad Houses, i will be disapoint.

As awesome as this game looks, I'm a little upset over the new boss battle system. Don't get me wrong, I love the Koopalings, but I also liked that NSMB had a wider variety of boss enemies. I like it when bosses reflect the world that they're placed in, and the Koopalings don't really do that. I think they would've worked better as minibosses, but that's just an opinion of mine. Besides, I understand that Nintendo is just trying to appeal to its fans.

On that note, someone from the Official Nintendo Magazine stated that the game has 20 total bosses, but if you do the math, eight worlds times two bosses per world only amounts to 16. I wonder who or where the others will be...
I think The Koopaslings should be the castle boss while normal bosses that reflect the world could be the tower bosses
What if you're playing with more then one player, and one of the players enters a pipe or door? Then what?
Check out my profile for awesomeness!
Once a player enters a door or a pipe, the other players have about three seconds until they automatically get transported along with the player that entered. During that time, they can either enter the same door/pipe as well, or get as much stuff as they can in the area before it happens.
i like how this game its looking, i'm going to buy it when it comes out!.
I do pixels sometimes
I found something definitely intriguing, but if you don't want to see spoilers, don't click.

Question, I don't exactly see what the spoiler is supposed to be. Maybe you could tell me? (In a PM if you don't wish to spoil it for anyone else)

I suppose it isn't as much of a spoiler as I originally thought, but to be more specific, look at the left file box.
I KNEW they had to make a secret world!
