Game idea thread

Lately, I've seen a few threads talking about how, "X game should have another entry," or "wouldn't it be cool if they made X?" That's fine and all, but the main idea with a forum like Gaming is to discuss released or upcoming games instead of hoping or thinking of ideas for possible ones that haven't even been announced.

This thread is meant to keep things a bit more organized. Feel free to share and discuss your ideas on what the next Star Fox, F-Zero, etc game should be like. If you have an idea for new console, handheld or PC game that isn't already part of a franchise, feel free to share that too.

If there's a game that's announced, but hasn't had any info for a long time, and doesn't seem to be going anywhere (such as that Kirby Wii game) feel free to discuss it here if you're skeptical about whether or not it deserves an entire thread.

I'll go ahead and keep the existing game idea threads open, but ask that ideas be kept here in the future. Thanks.
Rare needs to hurry up and make a Conker 2, Kameo 2, and Perfect Dark 2. All who agree say aye.
Sadly, I haven't even played Conker's Bad Fur Day, so it's tough to say on that. Perfect Dark 2 though .. definitely.

The one sequel I have wanted to see for ages, as well as many others, is a true "Donkey Kong Country 4". Don't get me wrong - 64 was cool, but it wasn't really the DK that I remembered. I'd like a game that goes back to the basics of DKC - bonus barrels, themed worlds, incredible soundtracks (64's was weak in my opinion), and a secret world. DKC 1/2/3 also managed to pull off a clever gimmick in every single level (which became extremely apparent in 3), so if we could see a 4th game that does that .. well, I would be pretty happy.

Wishful thinking. Sigh.
You know, I think WiiWare would be a perfect opportunity to make new entries in classic series like DKC. We certainly saw a (very) true effort with Mega Man 9, so I think continuing the pre-rendered graphic and musical style of the first three games would be excellent. While I liked parts of DK64, it often felt like, oddly enough, a Banjo-Kazooie clone and was lacking in terms of distinct worlds to explore.

What I'd really like to see, though, is being able to play as DK and Diddy together again. I always found it weird that you could only plays as DK himself in the first game. Having an option to swap characters and have each of them contain their own abilities might work too, as long as it wouldn't make you zig-zag like the barrels in DK64 if you need Dixie to get through an area or something.
What are you talking about?

You could always swap characters.

And they had different abilities.

I totally agree. While DK64 had its mystique about it, there was too much to do and collect to get 100% on it (I still haven't done it after all these years). DKC1, 2, and 3 all had basically the same premise: find all the bonuses and beat all the levels, period, enough said. I would love to see a Donkey Kong Country 4 come out (if not for the Wii, at least put it on the DS) - I'd buy it.

You were stuck with two characters in DKC1-3, and while you could switch between the two, what I'm saying is it'd be neat to have even more to choose from. If they implemented such a system in DKC4, minus the headache of finding barrels like in DK64, I think it would work well.

You know, while Project Needlemouse (that new Sonic game they announced) might be good, the series honestly deserves a real Sonic 4. (or 5, if you count S&K) They've already said that this new one will have HD graphics, but I think making Genesis quality graphics, gameplay, and music would be incredible. I don't think Sega could mess that up.
Supertails has a good point for a new Donkey Kong Country. Maybe a system like Sonic Advance 3, where you can pick any two characters out of a roster of 5 or so, which results in a unique combination move exclusive to the pair. It surprisingly worked out very good in Sonic Advance 3, and it will give an interesting spin on the traditional DKC formula. Of course, they better stay with the unique gimmick style and music from it's predecessors. Change can be good...to a certain extent.

Three game series' that I want to see return to their roots is Metroid, Zelda, and Sonic. While the Prime series was a fantastic series, I have been dying to play a new 2D Metroid. Fusion, despite being a bit linear, was one of my favorite games on the GBA, with Zero Mission surpassing it in every way. These two games opened my eyes to what Metroid really is...and I'm hoping to see a new one in the near future. Other M looks promising as a standalone game...but the 2D sections will more than likely be nothing like the original style. I'm still waiting on Metroid Dread D: (right...)

The Oracle series from LoZ was one of the best Zelda games I have ever played. I am still anxiously waiting a new 2D sytle Zelda. I'm pretty sure that a Phantom Hourglass style game is as close as the series will get to it's roots. However, with FourSword Adventures, the series went back to it's traditional formula and added in multiplayer support. I can see this working out incredibly well on the Wii. I've been desperately awaiting a new multiplayer Zelda game, and a Wi-Fi compatible version would be a great addition if the feature was thoroughly tested.

Supertails pretty much wrapped up my thoughts on the new Sonic game. I honestly don't mind if the graphics are Genesis style or HD, but I just want Sega to stop this crap with the influx of characters that have popped out of nowhere. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles were the main characters during Sonic's prime, and that is how it should be if Sega wishes to revive the series. Heck...even Sonic alone would be good. (Even though I would love to play as Tails as he was in his early years.) Sonic 3 & Knuckles introduced many things to the series that was never seen again. If Sega could maybe expand on these ideas in the right way, this new Sonic game can be amazing. Let's just hope this isn't a victim of the Sonic Cycle.

DO IT NOW SNN! I'M IN CAPS LOCK TO EXPRESS HOW UNBELIEVINGLY AWESOME THAT GAME IS! IGN GAVE IT A 9.9! EMULATE IT NOOOOOOOOOOWWW! OR MY TEDI ICON WILL KILL YOOOOOOOOO

Okay, now that that's over with, Yes there needs to be a new Conker game, there was actually one in the works called "Conker's Other Bad Fur Day" but freakin' Microsoft canceled it. It would've started like this: Conker spends all his money as king on beer, hookers, parties, ect. and the Conker's empire begin's to fall apart. So the citizens throw Conker in the dungeon and plan to execute him. You begin in the Castle's tallest tower with a ball N' Chain attached to your leg.

That was the actual intro they had planned but now I wonder what is next? What kind of stuff would happen to Conker? Any ideas?
I've already been part of a Conker 2 discussion, and pretty much this is how I would make it go:

Conker, the King. King of all the land. He has everything, money, power, a bar... But he has lost the only thing that made him happy... Her name was Berrie.

It has been three years since Conker lost the love of his life, and in those three years he has ruled as King. At first, he... well, truth be told, he didn't really seem to care, but then things became worse. Conker is now an evil and corrupt ruler, spending all the Kingdom's money on drinks and girls. Finally, having enough of him, Conker's past friends overthrow him, tossing him into the river.

Conker wakes up in a distant land, not knowing what has happened or why there is a crown next to him... The long trip down the rapids gave Conker a few bumps to the head, and he has lost all memory of being King. He sets out to find his way home, to do the last thing he remembers he has to do, get back to Berrie.

Rough, I suppose, but that's basically all I can remember for now.

That could really work!

Conkers Other Bad Fur Day FTW! Wake up Microsoft, yout took Rare for a reason, Conker and Banjo. >:
I've never played "Conker's Bad Fur Day" either.
Double Post :(

I think that SNK should make a new Metal Slug Creator game so you could create your own MS games and share them via WI-FI.

It could be on Wii and DS.

Chrono Trigger 2. They bring to bring back Crono and the gang, especially Frog and Magus.
In the darkness, lies the truth.
You know about chrono cross... right? And anyway, according to the ANNOYING fact that square has ceased and desisted chrono resurrection and chrono crimson echoes, which were fan games, you WOULD think they're doing something MAYBE.
Our world will stop advancing once humans manage to create sufficient magnificence for a whole lifetime. Until then, I just create.
Awesome video game music on my youtube channel
I would like to see more of the Darius series. Darius R was just a joke.

EDIT: I just seen Darius Burst coming out for the PSP. This had better not be a joke like Darius R.

There is no such thing as Rare anymore. Now it's just Microsoft, so you can forget about good games.

ALSO

Call of Duty: Vietnam (Free roamer, filled with traps and such)
Donkey Kong Country 4?! Yes. YES. YEEESSSSSS. But does it have to be for WiiWare? I'm not buying a Wii just so I can play 3 or 4 games that I kind of like. Also, I'm not so sure about having more than two playable characters...that wouldn't be very consistent with the first three games.

A Yoshi's Island 2 would be interesting, too. Or does Yoshi's Island DS or something already count? (I really wish they wouldn't make sequels on completely different and unrelated consoles, and have them on that console ONLY.) Or...how about a new Crash Bandicoot or Spyro game? Yeah, okay, technically, they're already doing that, but the newer ones are bleh. I wish they would have just stuck to the same style.

Ooh...how about a Super Mario RPG 2? I don't think they have that in the works.

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here. Progress: 64/95 levels.
Metroid fusion-like sidescroller for DS
Metroid ZeroMision 2 (Metroid 2 Remake)

And how about gameboy titles for wiiShop
Paper Mario DS: Such a great and addicting game, but portable! I just hope they don't try to add more "mass appeal" to it...
