Early 2007: My indian friend tells me about roms and emulators. I cry myself to sleep every night because all I have is a mac and (to my knowledge at that time), they couldn't run emulators)
August '07: Google "nintendo 64 emulator for mac" just for the hell of it, and find a page with a bunch of mac emulators. I was up for like 36 hours upon this discovery :O
October '07: Finally discover an IPS patching tool for macs, and register on SMWC. Begin to make a fool of myself from the start
Christmas '07: I get a windows laptop. DL LM, make a crappy SMB1 remake and whatnot.
August '08: Dunno what happened here, but all of a sudden I got a lot more mature and realized how idiotic and off-topic my posts were. Decide to start a hack, which I haven't made much progress on to this date
??? '09: Discover the IRC.
~April/May '09: Discover the chanofice crew. Awesome.

So that's basically where I am now... glad I found this place, if I didn't, I'd be bored as fuck
<-- this is the dope on dope
Well, let's see...

Early 2008-Was searching around on YouTube for random Mario videos when I saw somebody play the ROM hack Bowser Forest. I looked around for more of these when I saw a video of ProtonJon playing Mario's Wacky World.

Late 2008-Found out about SMWCentral, but didn't join because I didn't know how to play hacks.

Early 2009-Joined SMWCentral when I (finally) found an emulator that works on Mac and asked about patching IPS files. I blame asking such a stupid question on my Mac. The first hack I've ever played is Pandemonium Fortress 2, and I've never finished it. Cue several monthes of acting like an idiot.

Mid-2009 to now-I am actually trying to control my posting habits now. Also, Ultimaximus pointed me toward a Windows emulator, so I can finally use Lunar Magic.
Good fucking bye.
February 2006 - August 2007
I was interested in making a game somehow, but I couldn't really handle Game Maker back at the time. (Fail.) I had a Windows 98 computer, so ROM hacking was barely an option, even though I knew about NES and SNES emulation in 2007.

22nd September 2007
My Windows 98 sort of died. Well, it didn't really, but meh. We found out about that afterwards, and then it was too late, because we already...

29th September 2007
...bought a Vista.

1st October 2007
Got internet up and running. Tried out ZSNES, played SMW, SMAS and SMK on it.

12th October 2007
I was still interested in making a game. I searched for a SMAS editor, but I had to deal with a SMW editor instead. I didn't know it was that awesome though.

Rest of October 2007
Looked at (terrible) YouTube hacks, made my first two hacks. The first one for testing purposes, the second was actually trying to be a real hack, but it was ugly. Both hacks got b0rked later. The second one because of a poisoned AllGFX.bin. Later, it somehow returned, but I didn't need it anymore.

2nd November 2007
I needed to download Tweaker, and while I was at it, I registered on SMWC. Started on my third hack, Pokey and Kolorado. Learned hex editing.
I wasn't really a regular user.
I had an aversion against Nightfall.

Mid March 2008
Started looking around in Advanced SMW Hacking, it was a pretty useful forum. Nice releases such as SMWS, No More Sprite Tile Limits, etc. I tried to port at March 17th, but I didn't like doing this. Porting is not my thing. Then I began to learn ASM at March 18th.
Later in the month I coded a few (simplistic) blocks.
On March 31st I even began a sprite - wind generator. Again, very simplistic.

April - August 2008
Started coding more complex sprites, ended up with a (rather badly) coded Megafuzzy species and Ferdinand Y. Fuzzy, a Fuzzy boss I made.
(I revised them later.) I still have those sprites for nostalgia purposes.
In July I made some sort of Z positioning, which was actually super simplistic, and it had dumb code. However, it did look fancy.
In August I got to know about stripe image, as well as levelASM. I also began hacking routine in this month.

September - October 2008
Not much. Had a big break here because I moved and didn't have internet here yet.

November 2008
Started SMAS Dis, which is actually the best project I've had on SMWC I think. Still busy with it. I also released a number of patches.

February / March 2009
ASM Workshop. Looking back at it, though, it wasn't successful.

April 2009
Became a moderator. I really didn't expect it to happen, as I was quite new to the site and all that. No veteran or anything.

After that, not much. Tomorrow it's exactly 2 years since I've started hacking SMW.
--------> Don't follow "Find Roy's Dignity", my hack. Because it's pretty outdated. <--------
for me its bin like a mounth and its gone by quick
