Chocolate Level Design 2009: Results

Even though I didn't win, I still feel satisfied. My score wasn't THAT low, and some judges liked some parts of my level. Now, I think I'll go change the pallets for my current hack, so they're more eye-pleasing. Congratulations to LunarDrake and everyone who entered!
Congratulations to all of the winners! I would have liked to submit something for this contest, but managing a collab hack doesn't give you much time for other projects... Anyway, I'm looking forward to playing through all of the entries once I get the time.

So when will the vanilla contest trophies be handed out? That contest was ages ago...

Get the official ASMT resource pack here!

I made a ZIP of them earlier for raocow, but I have recently reuploaded a new one. It contains all of the levels which function completely from the start to the end. The higher the number, the better the level.

(note: at the time of this post, it is still uploading. I would wait a few minutes before attempting to download it.)

As for the vanilla trophies ... I was almost sure they were already given out. I guess not. Either way, I will do so when I get home from work tonight.

If it isn't too much work, could you put the fixed version in the zip file?
I'm sure many people still want to submit their fixed version of their levels, so it would make sense updating it.
In case you update it, here is the fixed verison of my level:

Despite some issues, such as my cover somehow getting blown and a couple entries that didn't work, this was a blast to judge overall. There was a huge range in terms of quality, and as a result, it made the entries that showed serious time and effort shine that much more. If you were able to submit a level, you should be proud: there were many people that weren't able to get one together by the time limit, even with the week extension.

Unlike the vanilla contest, there's a huge amount you have to work with, and as a result, it can be pretty daunting. Nevertheless, I saw some great examples of levels not just using ExGFX and music for the heck of it, but actually incorporating it into their level in a cohesive way. If you won a trophy, congratulations, and if you didn't, the feedback you received on your level may help in your future projects.
The few levels in this contest that I played were all awesome.

Congrats to all of you high ranking people!

(I guess 20th is okay for a vanilla level.)
16th out of 35 is pretty good! I'm happy with what the judges gave me as a score, and I had a blast making a level. Congratulations to the three winners! Better luck next time to everyone else. This has been great!

PS Atma, I want to kill myself now... Though, I guess it was a good time for that reference.

Lol, I got called Mister S.

I think I didn't do too bad, 'specially since its my first try. Congrats to Lunar Drake and and everyone else who was in the competition.

I really hope we have another of these within a year or so. Was a huge motivation to finish this level; would've taken me an additional month to complete without it.
After such a very long time, I finally got a trophy. I would like to thank the judges for giving me such high scores, but mainly for all the nice things they said about my level. More so, I would like to thank all of those that gave me support in this event. Special thanks goes to Maxx for helping me with a few ASM related things, and PercentN for his input and support while making this level. Who knows, maybe I might get a the kinks out of it and turn it into a hack someday. Thanks.
S.N.N.,
did you get my PM? What happened w/my level? Well, I'm glad you didn't say really bad comments, but I was just wondering why RoyChoco didn't write any comments? He didn't say why, but it was possible to finish my level. You had to hit the first Birdo w/the egg three times so you could go past it and get the P-switch.
Also, I tested the goal sprite, and it worked, but you had to walk to the right for like one second after you hit the last Birdo the last time,I think.

Edit: Oh, I didn't know if it would let me post again, but you or someone should like make a video of all of the levels so we can see them.
He had an issue with your patch. In the end though, I simply averaged mine and ST's scores to give you an appropriate rating.

(also, apparently I gave user ID 3 badge ID 4297 instead of the other way around this afternoon. Now that causes some issues.)
Well, I knew I probably wouldn't win, but I'm surprised that I did better than many other contestants. It feels good to have placed relatively high in the first contest that I entered. I guess I'll go ahead and give credit to the people whose custom graphics/sprites/music I used:

Custom Music
SNN
Jimmy52905
Big Al
MidiGuy
Supertails

Graphics
MetaKnight
Kaeru
Dinomar
DragonFire6780
Pac
Ice Man
Iceyoshi

Note: Mildes were ripped from the YI AllGFX, not the Goomba
to Milde replacement.

Custom Sprites
Maxx
smkdan
edit1754

Patches Used
dsx (?)
NoSpriteLimits (edit1754)
FadeFix (BMF54123)

I hope I didn't forget anyone...

I'm probably retired tbh
I'd figured that I didn't win but that's OK. I had fun anyways. My 1 level hack is still to the public. I'll begin posting the ZIP file on my GoogleSites about this week and links to the files at .t35.com

Since I didn't win, my account is now going to be inactive forever until my brother asked me to post his hacks here, or my site.

Nice seeing you all.
Aww that sucks, I finished my level a little late. :(

Oh well, I guess i'll just show it off:

Anyways, congrats to all contest winners especially the top 3, the lvls were great. :)

Eh... I should've submitted BHPG Tower instead. That is what I'll submit next time. Or... I'll submit a totally original level.

"Chocolate Contest 2009 - Results!"
I think it may be a bit too late for that...

Congratulations to the winners anyway. To be honest, I didn't know about this contest until now, but the levels were fantastic for the most part! Can't wait to see another contest!

...
Kristian, I hate you. In a good way, of course.
