Must play hacks

I'm relatively new to the SMW hacking scene.
I've played (and 100%ed) SDW:TLC, MIX 1, SMInfinity 1, Brutal Mario (Demo), The Haunt (1 level), and most recently SOmegaW.

I was wondering what everyone here though were "must play" hacks, what your favorite ones are, and what I should go after next.
All of the hacks I'd consider to be "must play hacks" are the ones in the top five. (On the main screen of SMWC, below the News.)

Hope that helps. :)

EDIT: LVL UP!
A must play you say...GO DAMN PLAY TSRPR ITS AMAZING INCREDIBLE! YOU MUST ITS AWESOME! And also i can recommend smw2+3 the esscense star. If you like complex storyline and cutscenes, this one is for you. But i still recommend tsrpr more...It got some sweet level design!
Play Super Mario: The Cookie Crisis by yoshicookiezues
In my opinion, it's the best hack ever created, also, it's a bit of a challenge.

Another one you may want to try, though this one is very tough, is
Rise to The Challenge by AxemJinx.
The music in this hack is some of the greatest I've heard, though sometimes the hack is a tad unfair.

Tsunami Island is awesome.
even though it is quite short, the levels are long, and includes multiple paths after beating the last level.

That level is a hell of a castle though. T_T
aran - Graces of Heaven
Even though it'll probably never be finished, The Tale of Elementia is still my favorite hack out there.
The two that I think are MUST PLAYS are probably the Tale of Elementia and Mario's Lost World. Both have amazing graphics, the best level design I've EVER seen, and tToE has a great storyline.
Your layout has been removed.
And let's not forget about Mario's Keytastrophe.

It has a wide variety of original (and ported?) custom music that gives the levels an appropriate setting.

Most levels are puzzles and requiere thinking but are easy to complete.
SMW2+3: The Essence Star is the best known hack because it introduced several new things that weren't seen in others...yet. In case you didn't know yet, this is a sequel to 2 Yoshi's Island hacks by the same person.
You've played SMI1? Go play SMI2, it's even better. I'd also recommend SMW2+3, Super Challenge World, BOTH TSRP1 and TSRPR, TSRP2, both parts of The Forever Mystery, and Mario's Keytastrophe. There might be others I'm forgetting, but whatever.
Good fucking bye.

Here's my personal list of "must-plays":
  • Return to Dinosaur Land by RAGB: only true "pure vanilla" hack on the site! (As far as I know.) It's amazing what the hacker did using only what he had.
  • Second Reality Project Reloaded: Always play this hack over the original. The original is shit by today's standards; presumably, the mods keep it here because it was made in 2002 and it has historical significance. Reloaded IS the original, but updated to meet today's standards. Has new GFX and custom music.
  • Brutal Mario: Inspired a generation of hackers to learn ASM. I personally prefer the unofficial English translation over the original.
  • Chaos Complexx: garbage hack that was intentionally done bad. Full of bad palettes and other things that can get your hack rejected. I guess it's kept here as a tutorial on what not to do; otherwise, the mods are enforcing a double standard! D:
  • XKA Shack by Smallhacker: was done entirely with ASM and hex edits. I won't spoil what happens in the hack for you, other than to say that my friend Rick rolled with delight when he first played it...!

...although, IMO, any hack on this site's worth a shot at least once!

Baww.
A. B. C. D.

Anyway, some hacks I recommend are Jigsaw's Test and The Haunt to get into Halloween. Kaos Islands is definitely a great challenging hack. I also recommend Super Mario Odyssey, because it's one of the greatest hacks I've played.

You are my hero.
To add some content, another hack you should definitely try is Super Mario Odyssey, like SystemkraSh said. It is an amazing hack.

- SMW2+3. An awesome showcase of storytelling, open-ended gameplay, and RPG elements in a SMW hack. The graphics and music may not be anything special, but it sure is a lot of fun to play.

- Mario's Keytastrophe. SNN really took the musical theme here and ran with it. The levels are filled with clever puzzles, secrets, and an interesting and mysterious story.

- The Second Reality Project Reloaded. Classic platforming at its best. It's pretty difficult, but great for players who want a ton of levels to sink their teeth into.

There are a lot of other great ones out there too, such as the SMI series and Azure Chaotic, but these are pretty much my top three.
You should probably play the original Kaizo at some point or another, too. First, because it's such a learning experience, even if you burn out after just a couple levels. Second, because it's such a touchstone in the hacking community - even here at SMWC.

Third, it's actually pretty fun if you can get into it.
Tales of Elementia. Hands down. One of the best hacks made.

Also, SMW 2+3, and Second Reality Project Reloaded. Oh. I guess I have two more.

Super Mario Omega, and SMB 3X. SMB 3X hasn't been released yet (full game), but the demo so far, is really good. :)
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. ^_^

Here is the list I gleaned from this topic (in no particular order and without the hacks I had completed):
Azure Chaotic Demo
TSRPR
TSRP2
SMW2+3
SM: The Cookie Crisis
Rise to the Challenge
Tsunami Island
Tales of Elementia
Mario's Lost World
Mario's Keytastrophe
SMI2
The Forever Mystery (Part Zero and Part One)
Return to Dinosaur Land
Chaos Complexx
XKA Shack
Jigsaw's Test
Kaos Islands
SM Odyssey
SMB 3X Demo

I played and finished TSRPR since I started this topic. Oddly enough, the last exit I had to get was the one that lead to the Top Secret Area. >_<

It was a blast... nothing too hard, but some challenging parts. It had a fun story and great level design. Definite win.

I think I have quite a full plate now, but more suggestions are always welcome.

Just "Kaizo Mario World."

I said "original" because "kaizo" gets thrown around as an adjective for a lot of other hacks.

Good form in asking for this list, btw. When I started playing hacks a couple months ago it took me forever to start gleaning the really good ones from random posts and LP's and such. Speaking of which, Raocow's playlists are usually a good place to find out about quality hacks that aren't available here at SMWC.
Don't forget the VIPS! Contrary to popular belief, They ARE available on SMWcentral!
