SMW Central 2.0 Feature Suggestions

Link Thread Closed
What about a ban meter? like, if you've done somthing wrong and you know better, your ban metter will increase. If it goes all the way up, that person would get banned. Just s suggestion of mine.

EDIT: and it would give you warnings, like "You're on thin ice," or "Watch your step."

I also have an idea, replace the Request thread and put mini threads in them like sprites, music, blocks, ect.

There is a filter for that.
Here comes slippy!

So I was on IRC today and I was talking with everyone, and we came up with a thing. We all thought it'd be a good idea to have a minimum postcount or level requirement to get into WoI and Forum Games. I suggested a good number would be 150, but it seems like that might be a bit high, so maybe 75-100. Kate also suggested that we have a certain percentage of posts in other, more serious forums before we post in WoI and Forum Games. As an example, say you had 10 posts on the forums, and went and started to post in WoI or Forum Games. Let's say the minimum percentage was 40. If this were the case, to post in Forum Games and WoI, you'd need for at least four of your previous ten posts to be in places other than WoI and FG, if that makes any sense.
Your layout has been removed.
I think it'd be nice to have something alert you of new posts in the thread you're about to post in, before you post your post. It's kind of hard to explain, so I'll just post an example of this feature in image form:

Click me!
I second Ranma Saotome's idea. Getting ninja'd is pretty annoying.

Megafonzie: I'm in no way speaking for the staff, but I seriously think your idea would lead to short, spammy posts in the Talk forum.
It should say above the textarea when you attempt to reply to an old thread

"This thread is now an old thread. If you reply to it, you would bump it"

Maybe that might make less people bump threads for no reason.

Edit: Woot! Post 700!Free counters!
Better yet just make threads automatically close themselves when they get too old (except for the creator's updates of course, in which case they're reopened until they become old again)
I don't think that would work, Simple Bag. If a creator of a hack wants to make updates after a while, they have to go through the trouble of PMing a mod to reopen it.

Maybe letting the creator of the thread re-open their thread whenever they want would work (There would be obvious exceptions, such as if their thread is Stickied/Trashed/etc.)

I said that
Yes, I just restated what you said and added this:

This idea just came to me.

One could be able to add tags to their hack, either being given free reign to type out any tags you like, or a pre-formed checkbox list of tags that identify your hack. Sometimes I get in the mood to play puzzle-oriented hacks, but I don't know what ones exist besides Keytastrophe or Buried Treasure. If they were tagged as "puzzle" or some such, I could find them, and any other hacks tagged with "puzzle", at my whimsy.
It's such a great idea, and yet so simple! I can't believe no one else thought of that! :O
yeah that'd be cool

That is brilliant!

And just before anyones mentions it, "Kaizo" won't be there. (I think)

If its not against the rules, i think a tip should be added that says what name to search for when trying to find a clean smw rom. Like what to type in Google or something. This i think would at least lessen the amount of people that ask for roms, as well as the people that post links to them.

Woof.
I think this has already been stated, but this is just so awsome we absolutely NEED to have this feature in 2.0! Subscribe to threads! We so need that! It'd be so cool. You could subscribe to your question's thread, your hack thread, other people's hack threads, a topic in talk that you like, if you're running a forum games game that requires your responses you could subscribe to that! It would be sooo useful! Please include this!
I've got an idea for the ranksets if they are going to be implemented on the new site. Maybe we could have a box in the bottom-right of each users post with a pre-defined size like 100x100 where your current rank is shown. In the box the small image and around the box the level and name. Then it wouldn't clog up the small profile of yours next to the post.

Just a suggestion but I don't know if it's a good idea either. But maybe you guys could consider that. :)
A SHOUTBOX, dude.

Instead of the SMWC Bar and Grill thread, we can have a shoutbox to talk to other users on SMW Central.
Your layout has been removed...NOT! :D
Well, uh, we have the IRC, a live chatroom, on #smwc at irc.caffie.net
