What makes you stop playing?

What makes you stop playing/ hesitant to keep playing a hack besides the following:

- Floating Munchers
- Cutoffness
- Blatant Level Edits

Mine would have to be horrid palettes and bad grammar. But bad level design where it's not fun and original, really craps a game up.

Nothing.

Except if the hack isn't a joke hack.
Vah'Neela's Mansion coming soon.
I dislike hacks in languages I can't understand.
However, I enjoy stuff like this (read: floating munchers makes me keep playing)
Also, end-of-demo levels makes me stop. [/obvious]

Like Alcaro, i do hate hacks with languages that i dont under stand in them...and bad graphics or stuff doesnt make me feel like playing so much.
Finally decided to actully work on a hack. I haven't thought of a name for it yet, and I'm only done 45%.

I f*cking hate graphics that don't fit in a level because of no palette change.

Example: Grassland graphics with green top in a level that's slippery and has a winter-type background.
Lets see..

I stop if the hack freezes after the Nintendo Presents screen, I reach the end of the hack, or if I want to take a break from it.
Hmmm. What will make me stop playing is floating munchers, bad palettes, cutoff, half assed level design that shows that they didn't even care about game play, bad grammar, fake death traps, nearly impossible jumps, blatant level edits, clashing gfx, messed up sprites, blocky overworlds, overworlds that stayed the same, messed up OW events that take Mario off screen, hacks that freeze up, poorly drawn sprites and lets not forget unfair difficulty that sends you to a medicle hospital from brain torture.
I don't even start playing, usually. I'm the other way around, basically - I stop playing good hacks after 1-2 levels, just because I think there just doesn't happen enough in good levels. Not many hectic things, anyway. I like to play bad hacks / hacks full of things that are frowned upon, for that same reason.
--------> Don't follow "Find Roy's Dignity", my hack. Because it's pretty outdated. <--------
Like Alcaro, I enjoy playing fail/joke hacks rather than completed ones (unless they're really worth the time, like TTOE and TSRP2) because there's more fun in them and they make you laugh sometimes. At the beginning of my SMW hacking career I used to play every hack though.

Usually though, I quit playing a hack after a couple of levels or so if there's nothing special in them or if they're just generic levels with the same SMW-ish style.
What makes me stop playing hacks is too many secret exits. I like having secret exits every once in a while, but not when it's every other level.
I rarely finish hacks anyway, so it's tough to say. Not a lot really turns me off, unless the hack is absurdly difficult and makes me want to pull my hair out.
If you mean when I stop playing a hack entirely, I never do that. When I start a hack and decide that I like it, I always finish it, because that's just what games are. I don't play very many hacks, actually, but the ones I do, I enjoy and finish. Basically, I treat hacks like actual games. My brother hasn't finished Sonic Unleashed, which I got back in February, and I'm totally weirded out. The concept of not finishing games is, like, unheard of to me.

Woah, you're pretty much like me.

...Or I am like you. Whatever.

The ONLY hack I have finished is Super Challenge World. It is my favourite hack, and it will remain like that.
My blog. I could post stuff now and then

My Assembly for the SNES tutorial (it's actually finished now!)
A blackout Really, there's only two things that bore me while I'm playing a hack:

1. Hacks where you can fly over every freaking level. I know you could in the original SMW and many levels in SMB3 as well, but most of the hacks where you can do this don't really have a fun level design. Look at TSRP2, for example. Whether the level is mazelike, has a platform you have to ride on to get to point B, or if it simply has the simple building piece we call a ceiling, either there's always something stopping you from flying over (i.e. an upside-down wall), or, as in most cases, you don't want to because the level is fun. If the level design is boring, chances are you can fly over that level.

2. The SMB3 music patch. I was never a fan of SMB3's music in SMAS, but after playing many a hack with that patch I'm sick of that music. I'll even listen to some of the few music files I have on my computer, but then I have to use a P-switch with persicion of there's a star run across munchers. It just annoys me.

The only things that make me stop playing is Kaizo hacks, I'm obviously not a fan of them.

I like playing the featured hacks with good and fun level design.

(Come to think of it, I've only played like 6 hacks)
Nothing really makes me stop playing, since I find Kaizo hacks to be enjoyable as well.
One word: PUZZLES!

Taking a small break
Nothing, except for being tired from playing any hacks at all, have to do anything else(homework ++) and key jump abuse because that takes like 99999 years to complete.
aran - Graces of Heaven
I get tired of playing hacks if the levels start to feel redundant. Ones that throw out the same traps and puzzles, keep containing the same enemies without getting interesting, etc. If levels keeps containing the same music/ExGFX, it can help contribute to this feeling.
Things that make me stop playing:

- Horrible, Repetitive Level Design
- Broken Overworld/Impossible Level
- Annoying, Loud Music
- Palettes That Can Cause Health Problems
- Abusing Some Glitches I Can't Perform, a.k.a. Item Abuse Intro
- Too Much Cussing

Yeah, those are my turn-offs.
