3. Sexual links/porn MUST be labelled as NSFW. If you are going to post something which isn't exactly work friendly, you MUST make a note of it in some way, shape, or form. If you do not, you will be banned from the channel for 24 hours.

I'm sorry, but I have to protest against your decision.

As though people would be warned, I was told long ago by another user (can't remember who) that there's a little thing called "curiosity" and people will click any links just to know what it leads to. Even as they know it won't be anything appropriate, there's a 30% chance they'll click it, wanting to know.

There's also the whole fact the place should be suitable for minors in my opinion. I don't feel any types of extreme violence, majorly disgusting, or porn links should be allowed in the channel ever. It's just not right to really have people posting things like that in a channel that should be suitable for minors.

I know I may be ignored, but I wanted to put it out there I really disagree with this rule and I'm sure there are plenty of others.

Besides, why can't there just be another #smwc channel for anything 18+ if you want anything like this? =(
I'll have to agree with the above poster here.

I don't think #smwc is initially created for NSFW discussions. Some people get disgusted by it.

SO true. Didn't we already have a channel like that? Or I think my memory is failing me...
My blog. I could post stuff now and then

My Assembly for the SNES tutorial (it's actually finished now!)
I've never been big on the idea of making a bunch of different channels dedicated to things such as posting NSFW content. The way I see it, we've got #smwc and #serioushax as "official" channels, and while users are free to create their own, just making them for that sort of thing seems excessive.

I'm also fairly against the idea of being able to link NSFW content in #smwc with a warning. Posting a 18+ video or picture tends to generate discussion about it, more pictures/videos, etc. Even if someone doesn't click the links, they may feel uncomfortable having them in the channel as well as discussion about the stuff linked. It wouldn't just be younger users: I'm sure there's plenty of people who want to visit the channel and not want to hear about how sexual organs work.

If there's serious desire for it, and if it would keep stuff out of #smwc, I guess users could make a separate channel for it if it hasn't been done already. But yeah, I'm against that sort of content being linked in #smwc at least.
I agree with the above mentioned posts. Sexual (or other possibly offensive) talk is redundant in #smwc (mind you: most people are only 12-14 years of age) and like Ersan already mentioned, it was never intended for the sole purpose of sexual or offensive links / talk. I do think I have to agree on an 18+ channel that branches off #smwc. In my honest opinion, whoever is interested in the subject will eventually come there, either way.

I also believe #pokepron once existed, but I'm not really sure what that channel was for, really.

That simple thought of having a different channel from 18+ stuff actually did not occur to me. Of course, it would need a rather mature leader who can keep it under control if it gets chaotic.

I'll revert the rule for now. We'll think of something for this.
How, exactly, would an 18+ channel be any more effective than a NSFW label? If a minor wants to go to that channel, they will. If they want to click on a NSFW link, they will.

You could actively enforce an 18+ rule on such a channel, but is it worth the effort? Is it really even your responsibility to enforce such a thing?

I guess it might help people who instinctively click every link without looking at warnings.

In other words, minors should be able to visit that channel, if they want. But it'd be more so an 'on your own risk' thing. #smwc, however, doesn't need these links, because ultimately they usually turn into further discussions.

Well, who would this mature leader be? I know most moderators aren't into that kind of stuff.

Uh... I'm fine with image labeling, albeit most people aren't. It's just more to add to my collection. I do agree that a NSFW image tends to generate NSFW conversation, which will turn away some people from #smwc. Although I think that people clicking out of curiosity is kind of a BS statement because you are responsible for what you watch.

An 18+ channel? Don't we have pokepron for this? Well, I guess if you want a separate nsfw channel that isn't pokepron...

EDIT: I've just been informed pokepron is terribly inactive so that might not be an option.
I am the Eggman! My current Egglayout is to support Sonic Robo Blast 2. I'll change it sometime in the future.

Then why can't we just decide someone who wants it? I mean, there could always be a small voting session to see who everyone thinks would do the best out of people that agree to lead the channel and whoever ends up with the most votes that's mature enough to run the channel can create it.

Of course, I really wouldn't want to be running a whole nsfw channel, so I have no intentions of it. Although I think this voting should be done to determine the leader.Although I think it should be Crystal King.
Sure, minors might go to the channel, but it's their own responsibility.
Sure, minors might go to porn sites, but it's their own responsibility.

I don't know who would run it at this point. I would take up the task, but it's hard enough running #smwc in all it's "glory".

As I said, we'll think of something over the next little bit. I'll post any further updates on a potential 18+ channel and/or rule changes here.

Indeed. I'd say it's the minor's responsibility to not click on NSFW labled links, too.

Now, if NSFW discussion is the problem, that's much simpler. Ban it if you don't want that type of discussion. By extension, you'd be banning NSFW links as well, and with much better justification than "omg minors are in the channel!"
I'm not starting up #pokepr0n again. Just throwing that out there. My interest has ceased in operating that channel. Especially with the backwater from this website involved.
At least we have our own IRC server. When I first joined, I kept getting banned for no reason.

If you're referring to Badnik, there were a lot of Z-Lines on things such as Mibbit, and general "country" IPs. It was a mess. If you fell in this range, it was likely that you were also hit by it.
I don't see why it would be too hard for a person that doesn't go "ewww MAINSTREAM uggghhhhhh *wrings hands*" at anything icky to set up a channel say #smwcy (y for yiff) and idle, watching for drama etc.

e: So Eager To Post That I Posted 1/2 A Post
Yeah, having our own server is great, since potentially harmful users can be dealt with easily, and we don't have to worry about power abuse.

In terms of an actual NSFW channel, I'm willing to make sure no spam, drama, or other serious issues ensue within it, but I have no interest in actually clicking any links.
