New rule in the Hacks section

I was checking some of these hacks and I got real pissed at the crap some people leave in the review section. So I decided I'm going to take icegoom's suggestion he's been trying to do for a while now. In the hacks/featured hacks section, only post full reviews about hacks. A minimum of 3 good sentences explaining how you liked/hate the hack, some of the strong/low points, glitches that you spot, some suggestions on things if you have any, and overall how good/bad the hack was with what rating you gave it. No more spam-like comments like "OMG THIS HACK RULZ 10/10" or "how did you do that" only comments. If you have those kind of specific comments, or want to discuss a hack in another way, PM the author about it from now on. Don't clutter up the reviews section with pointless comments and non-encouraging crap anymore. Any useless comments I spot will be deleted, and I will be checking weekly. Reviews was meant for the author to get feedback on his hack and to improve it using encouraging comments from the community, not spam. Base Hacks can be a slight exception, but still no more spamming there either. In addition, on the weekends I will start going through all the hacks submitted on this site and leaving my personal reviews on them, meaning small things that I found, and suggestions on certain things, even if the author doesn't work on the hack anymore. It might make me look like a picky villain, but as long as it help someone make a better hack, then it'll take the blow.

Say no to spam, people.
Have a nice day ^_^

THANKS! The reviews are just clogging up the hacks section...
I'm done hacking SMW and SMK. Focusing on let's plays.

Man, I hate typing paragraphs...

but I understand what your saying.
I wonder what a HFD opcode would do in ASM...
Cool. I've only reviewed 1 hack, and it was a full review. I wish more people would do the same.
w00t. I've seen people say "best hack ever" in about 2 or more different hacks and some "cool x/10" and not actually rate it (<- like in my hack)...

I, myself don't review hacks, I just play them, then rate them. :P
THANKYOU B.B.LINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

At long last. Really, comments like "Awesome 10/10" aren't good comments anyway, they don't actually say anything about the hack (what's good, bugs, what could be improved, etc.) This rule will prevent those, at long last. Well done and thank you.

I always manage to come just under or at one paragraph. As long as people can come up with a PARAGRAPH, I'll be happy.

I believe as long as there's relevant information and encouragement, it counts as a review.
Slightly well-versed on everything LinuxI'll beta-test your hack. Find me here!
Maybe not 2 paragraph's. Just explain in lengthy detail about the hack, thats all.
Ah, goody. I thoroughly approve of this new policy. I've been sporadically deleting some of the more idiotic comments, but I'll be doing more thorough sweeps of the reviews now.

A review can consist of just two or three sentences if need be. It doesn't have to be a thorough discourse on every aspect of the game (although that would be great) but it needs to be more substantive than "lol awesome 10/10" or "too hard."
that seems so much better than 2 paragraphs icegoom, thanks

I recently edited one of my comments into a full review, but it got deleted. Why?

AS IF I KNOW WHAT TO PUT HERE.

It would be nice if users had the option to delete reviews from thier own hack...
I edited the 2 paragraph rule to at least 3 good sentences about the hack. It did seem silly. That shouldn't be too much to ask, right?
Personally, the only limit I think there should be would be in the hands of the writer. If you can sum up the hack in two sentences, but those two sentences are very deatiled and give the information the author needs to know, then I think that should suffice.

Take my hack, Keytastrophe, for example. There were some dumb comments obviously (omgcool10/10oneoneone) but there are some short ones there that still make the point. (Great music, level design, and graphics. 9/10 from me)

If the person can't come up with 3 sentences, it would sound somewhat crappy ("Uh, this hack is really good, and enjoyable. Yes, that's right, really good and enjoyable. Did I mention it's very well done?")

Just my two cents.
It can be sometimes be difficult to come up with a lot to say, especially if the hack's really good, but it's possible to point out specific things you like in a review, such as "Excellent music. I really liked the tune used in the first boss battle." I don't think three sentences is unreasonable, but I guess there's no point to padding out a review just to get it up to length. I'm not personally going to delete something that's actually helpful if it doesn't quite reach a length requirement.

Most likely accidental. I'm almost positive the only comments I've deleted have been little two word replies or completely off-topic stuff, but I suppose it's possible I might have clicked to delete the wrong review at some point. Um, rewrite it if you can remember any of it, I guess.

DeviantArt has a similar feature to this (comment hiding), and it's been abused way too many times to justify its use. All you have to do to know how high the abuse potential of a feature like this would be to users here who can't take criticism is go to Google and type in "Snapesnogger site:encyclopediadramatica.com".

If a review bothers you that much, give a mod a PM or something.

And I disagree with B.B. Link. As I've said before, again on DeviantArt, no one should ever be forced or obligated into doing anything, even something as small as commenting on a hack. Be grateful for what you DO get!

And that's my 2¢ for the night...! :upset:

You're right, you should just spam the hell out of every fucking thing here and abuse everything that users already doing right now and make this site as shitty and trashy as *blank* boards and other non-enforcing rule sites I've been at. All I'm trying to do is to keep those areas clean from useless comments and enforce the review section for what it's for, REVIEWS.

How about this then, If I see something that I don't think fits in the comments section, then I'll delete it. Simple as that.

And that's my 2¢ for the night...! ^_^

lol Snapesnogger. There's a difference between a SMW hack and snake porn.
