Hack Removal Requests

From delmaru:
ummm... what about the bramble scramble demo, i played it and it was wayyyy to hard. i was using savestates every 5 seconds

I second that motion!

It's full of lag, there's only one track, it says "Bad ROM" when I play it in ZSNES, and Recover Lunar Magic won't unlock it. Sounds like pretty legitimate reasons to delete a hack to me. I highly doubt you people would be "deleting a functional game just because you don't like it" or whatever. ...'Cause it MALfunctions! :explosion:

When I test a hack, I look for playability, if the BG look too much like FG and i'm jumping twords it like it a platform, just to fall right through, then it gets in the way of the natural gameplay of the level, making it uplayable. Now I admit that lately I've been nuking hacks because I was annoyed by the lame levels and half-assed gfx, as opposed to what I said in the Hack guidelines. I just get tired of playing hacks that lack the fundamentals that even the original smw had. Like coins guiding me in blind cliff leaps. or sensible level design, enemy placement, and power-ups. Some old hacks do have some glitches, I NEVER liked Rob-ombs quest, but these are hacks that we're around before SMWC was even thought of. So they have to hold some archival value, thus, they stay in the featured sec. When a hack is deleted, and given reason why, the hacker is supposed to learn from his mistakes and fix it. We don't do that, as the result of me deleting the hack out of sheer hate. Maybe we do need to touch base on what's acceptable in a hack, and what's not, by the community standards instead of my own.

Are remakes allowed?
I'm done hacking SMW and SMK. Focusing on let's plays.

Yes, but they aren't wanted. <_<
Can somebody delete my Mario: In Desperation demo? I haven't finished with the GFX and stuff.
May we meet again outside the battlefield.
I can delete it. Looks like you got a very helpful review, so I'll go ahead and repost that so you don't miss out on the advice:

I just finished playing the hack all the way to the end, and I must say, it was definitely worth it, especially since it is hyreforgling's first SMW hack, and was quite awesome for a first hack. This is my first review, by the way. (Warning: long review.)

As you go through the game, it gets a lot more tricky. The first level was a bit easy like it should be, the second one was pretty good (except the music blocks glitched in graphics when I jumped on them), and I'll admit I fell for the P-block trap at the beginning of the third level D:

You have castle design down to a science, even though this is your first hack. Timing is everything in both of them. The first castle was more difficult than the second one, so maybe change the order of them in the final release. Now how many times did I get killed by the falling walls near the end... hmmm... These castles take much concentration to finish, and that's how a boss level should be. Excellent.

I appreciate this hack even more because you don't try to use a whole ton of ASM to make it great, but rather, push SMW's already built-in capabilities to the limit. Also, I like the GFX tweaks you made to the coins, and the little "YAY" when you earn an extra life. You also made power-ups quite rare, and lives hard to get, which add to the challenge, but it's rarely frustrating.

Don't be afraid to add custom music and more of your own graphics (since you're pretty good with drawing) in the final, and be sure to decorate the early linear levels since the first two were average. The game got pretty good after the third level, and addictive at the first castle. Everything should be relatively easy to transfer.

ASM is optional, but you don't really need it since you're familiar enough with SMW to bring out the best in it.

My rating: 8.5/10

+ Pros:
+Tricky traps when you least expect them
+Excellent castle design
+Short, sweet levels that still test your reflexes
+Nice personal touch with the Yoshi coin - looks like a palm tree medallion and looks right-at-home with other SMW GFX
+The secrets are VERY well hidden in the ocean levels
+No overload of cheap power-ups, Yoshis, or moons, but rather BALANCED in how many there are. (in fact, I only found one feather and none of the other two) :D
+The title screen was well-done in my opinion.
+Ninja Mario!
+Difficult but not frustrating - it can test your patience, though.

- Cons:
-Early levels are linear, undecorated
-Second level's music blocks have glitchy GFX when you jump on them
-Bonus room colors - Yellow and blue - maybe change the yellow to something that doesn't scream.
-I think there was one blind jump, and make sure the player knows to jump up in the Not-So-Big Cliff level so they hit the teleport block and not fall to their death. Coins as a guide? ^_^

Fixing those flaws should be a piece of cake since they're minor. Take your time with the final because many of the demo ones were impressive, and I'd be surprised if you can do better than that. The first castle was an epic win. You have the right idea.
Mario desert. Terrible game, terrible physics, terrible graphics.
And Kirby World 1.
I never liked Kirby world, it sounds great because it's kirby, but when you play it... yeah.
<TLMB> I use YY-CHR to edit DNA
yeah, i played it, didnt like it one bit. and kirby world 2, i get semi-glitched gfx.
I'll start some "Fall Cleaning" this weekend, guys.
goldenyoshi8 resubmitted his mirror worlds,
the only reason i need to have this hack deleted...

A room filled with infinite moons >_<
I wonder what a HFD opcode would do in ASM...
Stuff from the Tools section:

-Anvil Studios is nothing but the shortcut
-Super Mario World Development Environment: It's by arock99, and it can both disassemble part of the ROM, and has an ASM hack that lets each form of Mario/Luigi have its own palette.
Your layout has been removed.
Can i have my hack Mario great adventure removed? Im gonna make the demo better and test it out good. But for now can it be trashed?
Check out my profile for awesomeness!
OK, Great Adventure removed.

Any reason other than not liking it?
Can i request SMW:OM** demo edition to be removed if it hasn't already?
What is "SMW:OM**?"
SMW: OMFG Edition, I think. Not quite sure, though...
Ha ha! Why would anyone turn the letters "FG" into asterisks? OK, that's what I thought, and that hack hasn't been hosted here in a while, so request fulfilled, I guess.

EDIT: Deleted.

Super Mario Bros. 4, the fifth element: By looking at the ow screenshot, there's some garbage tiles, and some glitch.

I'm really considering deleting Kutera Genesis's "Another Mario World". I hate this hack with passion, but its not really broke, just poor level design, awful palletes, and immature 8-year-old humor. Some levels are just slightly edited from the original, and the OW is the same boring SMW OW we've been exploring for the last X amount of years we've been playing SMW. Also:

After hitting the Goal, I fell in the hole...........

Just look at this. LOOK AT IT!!!!

BARF!!!

We don't need to know what you do at night, buddy.

If you guys feel the same way then I'll remove it. I'm trying not to delete hacks out of personal feelings about them. That's why I asked you guys.

I really like this statement:

It all comes down to the fun factor.
