After a small consensus among the staff, we decided that the best option would be splitting the addmusic help and SPC showoff thread into their own threads, as people requesting help in it were not getting it.

Feel free to show off any complete, or in progress SPCs which you have composed or ported for SMW. Others may provide feedback on how to help you improve, or link works of their own. Need a quick place to upload an SPC? Use the File Bin!

Also, to those who have used Sample Tool: you may upload sound banks here for public use. Upon uploading one, please include the following information:

-Which samples are replaced (both in Sample Tool AND the corresponding number to trigger the sample in the TXT).
-Where you got the samples from.

Alright. That should be it. Go wild.

SMWC Idol Round 3.bnk

Sample 9 (@7): Piano from SoM that I have no comments on.
Sample C (@13): Orchestra Hit from Megaman X that may or may not be properly tuned.
Sample D (@14): Trumpet from I completely forget where but probably came from Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.
Sample 10 (@12): Celes' Opera voice from FF6 because I hate you all with a fiery passion and want to make you go insane trying to use it.
Sample 11 (@17): The Guitar from the Megaman X series because it's awesome.
Sample 12 (@15): Strings from Terranigma that are so low they make baritone singers cry.

optimize.bnk

This is the original SMW sample bank with more free space. There should be no audible difference, it just allows for more free space. Over 16KB of free space is allowed for while retaining all the original audio.
ok. i got my title screen music for my new hack, mario disconnected.
here it is.

Edit: i accidentally put my .txt, but its free to use as long as you give me credit.

That song would be good if you toned down the percussion and changed the guitar. The melody is good, but it seems really cluttered and sounds kind of bad the way it is...

Here's one I finished a little while ago, but never posted in the old thread. It's another Mega Man song, but I took quite a lot of liberties with this one, and it took nearly a week to complete.

Already heard this, although I'm really beginning to think it is one of your best ports. I just love what you've tried to do with it, and in turn, you made it completely awesome. Well done.

In other news:

"Raising Arms"

Figured I'd show this custom piece.
That's a really unique piece, S.N.N. Haven't heard much like it.

Anyway, here are the two original pieces I posted just before the thread switch.

"It's Either Ambience or Emotion"

"Stranded"

I'll quote S.N.N.'s comment from the previous thread:

Stranded: I like the beginning, although I would choose a different instrument at around 00:19. The low, held notes don't really work using that. Same idea at 01:11 - the steel drum melody doesn't sound all that nice here. I would try a different instrument. Other than those two issues, it is a pretty decent track. Might want to quiet down the percussion a bit.

It's Either Ambience of Emotion: Kind of weird .. I suppose it would work in something like a semi-haunted area. A lot of it seem pretty random though, in my opinion, especially around 00:30. It doesn't really 'flow' past that point, and just sounds kind of weird. The first thirty seconds are pretty decent though.

I changed the bass tone in Stranded to a more subtle instrument, and replaced the steel drum segment with piano. It does sound more "collected", which is better for the mood I want to create. The drums are meant to make it sound "tropical" - I did tone them down a bit. What do you think now?

I wasn't planning on using Ambience or Emotion, to be honest. It just sounds too "happy" for the tone of the hack, which is more subdued and melancholy.

That will do amazing work for your hack. Keeping this on my flashdrive.
Also, S.N.N. (or anyone else who listens to the songs), do you think "Stranded" could be called "happy"? My brother seems to think so, but I disagree - it should sound positive, but subdued, like a slow resurgence after a heartbreaking event.
It's in a pretty upbeat key, so yes, it could be generalized as happy. Given the 'lower' part that I said I didn't like though, that is what makes it a bit more dreary. Come to think of it, that is probably why I think it sounds out of place - because of the whole 'happy' and 'sad' mix. I guess towards about 01:15 is where it starts to sound a bit more gloomy.

Also, thanks for the feedback to those who commented on my piece.

I'm aiming to make the music sound like a real soundtrack or something, not just "generic video game background music", so I think having both positive and more dreary sections in the same song might make it sound more..."song-y", I don't know.

Now that I think about it, I probably don't know about a lot of common "music conventions" that let you make a song exactly how you want it to feel. Are there any places I could learn more about this?
Books, really. I learned more of the stuff I know out of reading various books and experimenting. You could also just use Google for various stuff about which key signatures sound good for certain moods, and various terminology.

Remember, it's your soundtrack - I'm just offering suggestions. You don't have to take them if you feel the tracks are well done.

In other news, I'll join the samples bandwagon, but I won't go easy on people. Heh.

Kirby's Dream Land 3: Sand Canyon Stage Select.

The original can be found here.

Enjoy.
I only started making custom SMW music Sunday, so I'd like a little feedback on this: Megumi Hayashibara and Masami Okui - Get Along

Excellent! Man, I am getting more and more pumped up (excited) about the new SPC's that are becoming available to listen to. Keep up the good work!
Oh yay, an spc thread. :V

ShiverStar Theme - Kirby 64

Shiver Star's theme is one of my favorite Kirby themes. :P
Hum... This blank space is no longer blank.
Mysteries of the Dead

A dark and mysterious song I made yesterday. Who knows where I'll use this in my hack. Or will I even use it?
This is actually the first piece of custom music I made. I have a habit of retracking this song whenever I start using new music software or a different format, whether I actually need to or not. :U

Nobuo Uematsu - Final Fantasy VI - The Decisive Battle

Redundant submission will be redundant

That sounds real nice overall Lachesis. Pretty solid. :)

Here's my latest song for Mario World:

Super Mario All-Stars - SMB1 Overworld

This one was a long one. As far as I know, this is the longest song in the All-Stars soundtrack. O.o

Well, hope you like it. ^^

Showcases alot of my vids. ^^

Hack Progress: -About-
Havn't done much hack work/level making so...
.. (Just a little SMBX stuff really)
Thanks. Your overworld theme sounds near exactly like the SMAS version, as far as I can tell; nice job.

Here is a new original song that I made. It's very short and didn't take me very long to make. However, I think it turned out quite well. It's going to be used as the main overworld song for my hack.

"Peaceful Lands"

Feedback would be appreciated.
That sounds quite good Jimmy. It combines a calm feeling with a victorious undertone. I could see it being used as an overworld theme or for an ending.

Anyways, here's a WiP port by me, The Falcon, From FFVI

The midi I used wasn't that great, but hopefully that doesn't show in the spc. (Also the percussion isn't quite the same in the spc compared to the txt)
I made a port, guys! What do you think?
Super Metroid - Red Brinstar I had to modify a few parts of the MIDI to make it sound a bit more accurate. This is the first song port I've ever tried to use volume slides, and turn off echo in the middle of the song. If there's anything I need to fix, just let me know. Enjoy!
