How did you first hear about SMW?

If it's in the wrong forum, feel free to punt it.

How did you first know about the original game, SMW, released in the early 1990s?

  • My bro bought it back then, and I had no interest until now (back in 2004 I think?)

How did you first know about SMWCentral?

  • Random googling. (2007)

    What about you?

  • I had it many years ago.

How did you first know about SMWCentral?

  • Googling why my overworld glitched colors when an event passed, as the help file was no help. Now I know palettes 0-3 don't work properly on the Overworld.

FuSoYa really should have mentioned that in the help file, and he should have put a link to SMWC on the first page of the help file.

SMW-Played it on the SNES when I was 4.

SMWC-Heard about it from some LP'er.
Now with extra girl and extra hacker
How did you first know about the original game, SMW, released in the early 1990s?

I knew about this game because I owned a copy of it. I was too young to remember when the game was actually bought by my parents but I started playing the game around the age of 3 or 4.

How did you first know about SMWCentral?

    This thread.

Smallhacker and Kieran advertised the opening of the site at the beginning of Incarnation 3 of Acmlm's Board. I've been a member of that board for about 6 months over there before it was advertised. There wasn't much on the site at the time it opened though.

  • I first played the GBA version, but then I found out there was an original.

How did you first know about SMWCentral?

  • I found a link on FuSoYa's site, I think. Either that, or I googled 'smw'.

Lunar Magic's last release was in 2005, 2 years before SMWC was made (I think?). Although, he could have made a link to Acmlm's Board 2.

I had SMW since 2000, not sure from where though. I forgot >_>

Where did I find it? Well, I think my friend downloaded some SMW hacks (from Zophar's Domain I think) and I wanted to find more of them, so I just found it through Google when searching for SMW Hacks.
I don't remember... It's like I borned with my SNES and all games I had.
Now I leave my IPS patches of my hacks for everyone play and edit as you want to.

I heard about the original game, from my cousin when he gave me it.

And Zildjian told me about it at school.

Same here. There's a pic of me playing SMW (holding the controller the wrong way round, lol) (actually I was player 2 and my bro played). I think I was 1 year old.
SMWC also over Acmlm's. (Guess I'm a veteran.)
I forgot when I heard about SMW, I think it was back in 2004 when I went to Big Bear with my dad and they had a SNES.

As for SMWC, when ever I'd go to Quizlers house he'd always be working on his canceled hack or on the site. I finally went to the site and registered.
smw was my second Snes game and my favorite

SMW - My friend (with the username "Kramer" [he isn't on the site]) showed me this game on his Xbox with an emulator about 1,5 years ago. I liked playing it, and I always love the platform games, so I searched it on Google, and downloaded it.

SMW Central - In april, 2008 I found this site - probably via a Youtube video. First I've just download the hacks and read the forums, but in october I registered - and here am I. :)
SMW - Came with my first SNES. Fell in love with it right away, obviously.

SMWC - Same as fabio and Ramon. As a matter of fact, fabio joined Acmlm`s exactly one day after I did (7-01-2005, 7-02-2005). Good times.
SMW - The same as SNN. I think I was about 3 years old.

SMWC - I don't remember. Maybe it was through Youtube or something.
Super Mario World - I first owned a copy of the GBA version back in 2003 around when I was in 3rd grade. I didn't know that there was a SNES version back then, though.

SMW Central - I first discovered SMW Hacking at the beginning of 2007. A few months later, I wanted to learn how to insert ExGFX into my ROM, so a watched a video tutorial, and it had a link to SMW Central.
How did you first know about the original game, SMW, released in the early 1990s?

  • I played the game long tome ago back when i was about 6.

How did you first know about SMWCentral?

  • When I was learning about Lunar Magic, i searched up video tutorials on how to use it and one of the videos that i watched was talking about SMWcentral.

I found smwcentral by looking at some old videos on youtube back in '06.
Back in... 2002 maybe, I wanted a Game Boy Advance. So we got one. It came with SMA2. I thought it was a fun game and soon enough I was making my own levels on paper. Of course, I was 6 and I didn't know the size constraints to a level, so I just filled A4 pieces of paper. Also, the level design was, how would I put it... ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. Then, in the later half of 2006, I googled something "custom level creator" or something along those lines. I'm not sure what it was exactly, possibly Junkbot (some Lego game that I liked), but one of the search results was a link to a YouTube video of a custom SMW level. I watched it and a few more, and in one of the comments was a link to FuSoYa's Niche, where I downloaded Lunar Magic. I played around with it for a while then I joined SMWC for some reason afterwards, I think it was how to not paste objects in 2x2 squares (lol fail) but I found out afterwards so I didn't ask that question, but I've been part of this site since.

That was sort of long for one of MY posts.
May we meet again outside the battlefield.
SMW - Super Mario World was pretty much the first game I ever played and according to my parents started playing it since I was 2 :O

SMWC - I was bored and decided to look at some hacks on YouTube, when I stumbled upon a video of Carol's Brutal Mario. The download link sent me to this website.

SMW is a great game and it should go to the history of the best games ever made.(1997-1998)
