By TAS'ing all the levels, do you mean make one big video of me TAS'ing every submission and putting it into one big video so I can upload it on YouTube?
ooh that's a good idea. I'd love to see it.
yes.i hope you will do that!if yes,i'm looking forward to it :).

EDIT:dang you zildjan you ninja!

Doing levels blind leads to terribly-made routes and sub-par TASes.

Also, I think doing only the ones considered the best should be TAS'd (as in my idea from way-back-when.) It gives a little more of a prize, and people won't send in sloppily-done hacks just so it could be TAS'd. Believe me, there are quite a few people who do things like that.

But hey, it's Panga's choice whether he does it or not. I'll probably be doing my own idea, in case anyone cares.

Well, dainegai has a point. And I'm getting an entry with about 15 exits, so I might not TAS levels with multiple exits. And if the level design sucks, then I probably won't TAS it. And it also depends if ZSNES does decide to not desynch for once.
Bleh. I think I'm just going to leave my level as vanilla, none of the changes from that that I made really felt like much of an improvement. I'm going to get a submission in as soon as I finish making a boss for my level.

SCORE!!! You were probably the one I was scared of most.
Balloon Party.
At times like this, you need to step back and say, "Where's the Balloon Party?"
I like the new red counter in the upper right corner of the page. Thanks for putting it there.

BTW, if anyone can help me (with specifics) get a Kaizo contestant banner in my profile, for all of the posts, please PM me.

Thanks, Mapsking
Oh yeah, I just remembered:

Should the judges post a Kaizo Level of their own? (dainegai probably won't do it but)
oh please no.i suck at kaizo, yours are kaizo-extreme.oh please no.
Ok, well, I'm giving a copy of mine here.

"Crashdown Castle" in its current state.

I may come back and do some palette editing, graphics editing, music editing, and/or overworld changes before the deadline, but I want what I have done now submitted in case I decide not to make those changes. Still, on a whole the level's done, and I welcome any comments (though do it in a PM until the submission period is over).

My level has two exits, both of which are relatively obvious to find. Its far more difficult than any level I would normally make, but has no invisible coin blocks. It has very few sections that require "frame perfect" timing, though both paths have one rather nasty jump that I considered taking out. I can beat it with minimal save state use (I've managed to go from start to midpoint without a death) and no slowdown or the like, so it's not *THAT* hard.

Good luck everyone! And if anyone does decide to TAS the level please let me know, I'd love to see it.

*edit* sorry forgot to add: This is for Best Kaizo Contest, not longest.
That reminds me - EVERYONE, LESS THAN 10 DAYS BEFORE SUBMISSION PERIOD IS OVER!! I SUGGEST FINISHING UP YOUR HACK AND TESTING THEM NOW!!

Another note:

  • Remember to test your .ips patches to see if they work. The judges will not patch and play them until AFTER the submission period is over, and if your .ips doesn't work, it will be disqualified.

    EDIT: New update

    --------------------

    Judging Format

Judges, please use this format when scoring levels. Everyone else, this is the format by which we will judge your levels.

    --------------------

    Name - Level

    Creativity: /10
    Difficulty: /10
    Appeal: /10
    Functionality: /10
    Fun: /10

    Overall: /50

    Comments:

Imagination (10): Did you use your imagination and make your own custom traps, and not take it from the original Kaizo?
Creativity (10): Did you take the original SMW and bend it to form new, creative puzzles, clever areas, and tricky obstacles?
Difficulty (10): Is the difficulty just right? Is it just on Kaizo difficulty, but at the same time, not near impossible or a walk in a park?
Appeal (10): Does the level look nice? Are there any graphical glitches? Any stacked/floating munchers?
Functionality (5): Does the level work properly? Are there any retarded places that are unfair/can kill the player too easily?
FUN (5): Is your level FUN OVERALL?
Understanding (10): Did you follow all of the rules? Did you understand this contest through your level design? This should be an easy 10.

I don't think anyone is doing the second one. (I suggest you do, since if no one participates, you could get 1st place by default)

  • Tag (li) was not closed.
If anyone even cares, the old colab IS still being worked on.

Good to see that there is something else to distract you all with for the moment though. I'd submit something, but i need to concentrate all my effort into denoobifying all the bugs in the old levels.

good luck with all this guys!

    . . .

There are two contests that you can compete in.

The Best Kaizo Contest - For this contest, you are trying to make the best and funnest Kaizo level ever made, and also looks nice, which means No Stacked/Floating Munchers!! For example, Cool or Cruel

    . . .

Just to mention it, not to be rude, or anything, but Cool or Cruel had stacked munchers everywhere.

    Thanks, Mapsking
Alright, I managed to finish my level, which is named Fairly Unfair.

    Link

There's only one exit, and it's a submission for the Best Kaizo Level.

You actually did a level? Well I guess I should too. But I bet dainegai would just ignore it and say, "Meh."

And do you remember that you are judging?

@mapsking - Cool or Cruel is a example of great Kaizo level design, but it does include stacked and floating munchers. That's why I bolded it.

    qft

Seriously though, the last time I used Lunar Magic to try and make an actual level was TWO YEARS AGO, when I first got it. I don't think I'll be able to pull a polished level out of my hat without knowing how to insert ExGFX, among other things. If I knew how to though, you'd get a very confusing maze and an especially-confusing Kaizo trap at the end. Panga can attest to that. I had to tell him how to do the whole first level when he was attempting to TAS my really, really, really old hack.
