I'm making a "First Hack" game.

Features:

-Little ExGFX
-Increasing Level Design throughout the game. (No levels are ommitted)
-The exact same overworld

I don't really like the sensitivity of this userbase, so I'll hold back on posting my hack for play. Screenshots should come soon.
The first level (unnamed)-One screen level

Each level will have a secret (maybe red?) star.
(Don't confuse this with the yoshi coin star in my first screenshot.)
I hope I can create the system for red star collection.
For now I'm just marking the secret star with a miscolored coin.

Edit: Mario stops going any where because it is a one-screen level!!!!</b>

Am I going to fall in a hole by collecting that Goal sphere?
That's what it looks like to me. Make sure that isn't the case when you finish.

More puzzling fun in the forest, with two new concepts introduced in this level.
Very good, SNN. I don't like the FG, but it's just my opinion.
I'd change the purple part of the FG to a more soil-ish color. Purple doesn't seem right. O_o
How about this?

(ignore the black clipping, forgot to trim it)
I like that much better S.N.N. , Mario's Keytastrophe is looking better and better.
A night submap:

Note: Not finished at all... going to be ExGfxified some more... and obviously level names

I think I know what one of those concepts is S.N.N. :P

Spigmike, that's pretty good. However, I suggest that maybe you could add some cliff lines to your cliffs.
The Super Metroid FG doesn't suit with the forest BG.

here's one way to do it:
Code
                LDA $RAMADDRESS
                CMP #$VALUE
                BNE NOEXECCODE
[INSERT CODE TO EXECUTE IF EQUAL HERE]
NOEXECCODE

I was just reading through my PMs and I forgot I hadn't used those yet, so I figured the time had come, heh.
ghettoyouth: that's the most impressive hackery I've seen since brutal mario..

spigmike: The cliff's perspective looks odd without some defining lines.

When I finish a few more I'll release a pack of YI sprites. Right now it's just a gusty + gusty generator and that ghost shyguy.
I already have the gusty sprite. A gusty generator? That's cool.
Didn't know there was a gusty already made, but I'll still put it with a generator. Some controls like how heavy the waves are / left right entrances will still make it worthwhile, I guess.
nice work. it's good to see more YI enemies.

The BG in that screenshot uses [the space of] 4 (yes, 4) exgfx files. Yes, it's real.

30 imaginary points go to who can guess what game that BG comes from.

50 imaginary points go to who can figure out how I put in the extra GFX files to fit the BG.
If you mean the FG, I would say, in one of the ExGFX files are the FG tiles.
