Retro Games Discussion

Aren't they the best? Anyway, I just hooked up the ol' SNES and I found out how fun it was all over again. So far I played Smb all-stars, Kirby Superstar and Starfox. I'm yet to play Super Mario Kart, Smw 2: Yoshi's Island, Super Metroid and Super Mario World, and get through Milky Way Wishes tomorrow with my friend.

I think playing games on the real console is a long-shot from playing them on an emulator, they remind me of the good times...

Well, I was thinking what consoles you guys might have, and/or your favorite games as well. My favorite games is a tie between Smb All-stars and Kirby Superstar; They both have plenty games compacted into one awesome little cartridge, as well as a kick ass soundtrack ^^

AS IF I KNOW WHAT TO PUT HERE.

I pulled out the old Sega Master System a little while ago, and I must say; damn these old games are hard! I've only been able to beat one. A few things I found odd are that the "credits" didn't actually have the names of any of the developers, all it was was a list of enemy names. Also, why is it that there is no need for a sensor with the gun for the Sega Master System, but for the SNES or newer systems a sensor is required?
Yeah, retro games are really awesome. I usually play my SNES roms and other old retro consoles on my computer more often than I use my Gamecube or PS2. They are just too addicting that doesn't seem to never get too old to me.

My favorites were the 3 Donkey Kong Country games. They were such an awesome platforming series. It is a shame that the Donkey Kong series went downhill after those 3 games.

On the subject of soundtracks, SNES as well as other retro console seem to have the best video game music. My SNES music collection that alone make up more than 25% of my VGM playlist. That's 300 songs out of about 1130. That's a lot.

Light guns detect light...for the NES Zapper, the screen flashed black and all targets were outlined in white, if the tube in the Zapper detected the light of the target, it would cause that target to be hit...The wiimote requires a sensor bar because more than just firing is detected...movement is also detected, and you can't do that with white outlines =P

other light guns could kind of detect movement...but that was only with certain kinds of TVs, which most people don't have anymore...
Well. My favorite game, for the SNES, has to be Kirby Superstar, and Donkey Kong Country 2. Both of those have amazing music, and graphics (For their time.) I play (And beat) them pretty much every day on zbattle.
Your layout has been removed.
Well, I will say that the SNES was the golden boy and the golden age of console gaming. It came out around the time that the Sega Genesis was still around, and was the second major console I had gotten for a birthday of mine. I played it with SMW as the first game for the system.

I also remember getting the DKC series in sequence, watching the tech. video for DKC I, and just marvelling at how cutting edge the SNES was. You had huge games that were incredibly long, the doing away of the sub-par NES way of presenting RPGs and replace it with epic Action/RPGs(Secret of Mana), RPGs(FF III), Adventure RPGs(Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past).

Not only that but Megaman games, Kirby games(I remember being blown away by the graphics of Kirby Superstar looking it up on a gaming magazine. It is still one of my favorites), Mario games, the SNES had it all. I wish that I could intellectually reasonate on some obscure vortex but I will just say that the system has an after-life, in the emulation community.

I remember being surprised at the amount of high quality and prestigious games that never came here(especially including Terranigma, which supposedly was on European shores and in Japan but never here). Possibly they should've done an Earthbound Zero/Earthbound pack for the SNES(with added features for Mother I) but it is amazing, 6 or 7 Squaresoft games!?(including the legendary Bahamut Lagoon, an awesome game at that)

Well, I should better stop rambling about all of this. I have already been driving myself into circles constantly thinking about videogames, I should stop. Don't get me started on the DS and Wii(both systems that I don't have) and how there might still be a little SNES somewhere in there(oh yeah, Nintendo is my favorite company and Shigeru M. is my hero in that gaming business).
I am not a hacker by trade, I am an observer and I can be very observant. I tend to lurk around here to prolong the good experience of playing the original SMW. Whatever can add onto it is something that I will definitely do when I am bored which is often. And I will rarely post and give praise when needed to the hacks that may make me interested to relive memories.

My worst enemy in Mario isn't Bowser but my controller that keeps on getting disconnected from the inside. Might be my memory count.
snes kicks ass
for some reason i hooked up my N64 again and remembered how much a loved yoshis story!
Just back here to browse a bit.
Ah, I still have my SNES and N64. Great stuff, the only game I really want for the SNES is Kirby Super Star... Still remember having it in one of those little cases and sitting in the car, waiting to play it. Anyway, one of the favorites I have is Zombies Ate My Neighbors.

My preferred games are..

-Donkey Kong Country, 2, and 3.
-SMW.
-SMAS

There are a lot of greats I ended up missing on SNES. My dad (who bought the SNES) barely got anything good at all.

Some of the games I've downloaded on Virtual Console, like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, DKC/2 and Super Metroid. (which I love) I'm really looking forward to other SNES classics like Kirby Superstar, Earthbound, and Super Mario RPG.
Kirby Superstar all the way.
I thought that SMRPG was going to come out on the Virtual Console this year? But this is only from people on MFGG, so I haven't really gotten a real source. Most likely on the Nintendo site...

Scientific genius!SMRPG owns. I love it. I cannot get enough of it.

Also I have never played Yoshi's Cookie *some people ghasp*, could someone tell me what it is?
I am the Eggman! My current Egglayout is to support Sonic Robo Blast 2. I'll change it sometime in the future.
Listen to the SRB2 Soundtrack! It's awesome! AWESOME I SAY! Also, PM me if you ever wanna do SRB2 with me.
its a puzzle game, just google it, its too hard to explain. btw SMRPG owns, only beat it twice in my life though, but it takes forever to beat.
SMRPG FTW!!!
