Mariomaster asks: which hack to play?

I've recently been downloading a ton of hacks from this site (especially kaizo hacks in the kaizo hack submission thread) and after three weeks, I still can't decide which one to play first.

It's really annoying for me and for other noobs as well who have recently discovered the site(no offence, because I'm one of them!). there seems to be so many great hacks, that we are spoilt for choice. Do we take a close look at the awesomeness of Super Demo World: The Legend Continues, or do we play a thrilling hours worth of luigi's adventure? or maybe try a demo of a super mario odessey? Or even try out something with tons of ASM and ExGfx? I really can't decide.

I was just thinking that it would be helpful to me and noobs across the board if someone could reply with an order of hacks to play, starting with number 1 being the first hack to play. That would be really helpful!

I've got a ton of hacks on my Wii SD card which I play on my Wii(they run 100% emulation). Which one to play first, then second, then third, then so on so forth?

Until next time,

Mariomaster4000 :D

i would suggest something what your style fits,in this case, kaizo 1.
In my opinion, I would try to focus on completed hacks first.

I would recommend Super Mario TKO, Kaos Islands and many of the other featured hacks.

I agree but I rather play it on ZSNESW but the custom sprites won't show, so I have to use SNES9x which sucks. Grummble!

What? ZSNES works with both of those hacks. And SNES9x doesn't suck. In any event, an emulator shouldn't have any bearing on whether custom sprites show up unless something in that sprite specifically caused an emulator to crash (which is not the case with either of these).

[?] Miscellaneous Helpful Hints
If I moderated your hack, there was apparently a 90 percent chance it was rejected.

The ZSNESW version I have is 1.17 and it features rewind which doesn't appear in the other versions. SNES9x won't let me switch the hot keys and doesn't rewind but save states. I can't even play the cheep demo of Brutal Mario or Kitiku Mario or something speled differently. Super Mario TKO is easy because there's no custom sprites. Here's a pic:

The only time custom sprites work is when I insert them.

Are you saying other ZSNES versions don't have rewinds? 1.50 and 1.51 have rewinds I'm sure, but I can't recall others since I only use those two.
Where is it located?
In the Tools section.

Since when is Tweeter not a custom sprite?

Get the official ASMT resource pack here!

It's staying in the air moving in 2 frames. The tweeters don't hurt, they stay in one spot. I should make a thread of this in Advance section.
Hmm, I thought tweeter was just a tile edited paragoomba. It would be fitting, since they act similarly.

EDIT: Whoopsie, I didn't notice the paragoomba next to tweeter. :P

Get a new version of ZSNES. SMTKO has a lot of custom sprites, including custom bosses and NPCs. You won't get too far if they don't work.
I already have the new ZSNESW (1.51) and still doesn't work-wait! It works. I tested it out on Super Kitiku World so no problem.
Return to Dinosaur Land: A good start to playing hacks because it's easy and doesn't overwhelm you with new stuff.

The Second Reality Project series: The best level design and general quality you'll see for a long time. They get really difficult later on, though.

Super Mario Infinity series: Above average-ish hacks that have some flaws, like discolored pipes and unfair level design near the end. Nice plot though.

All are featured.
I'd say checking the main page for the highest rated hacks would be a good choice as well (shame on all of you for not mentioning my hack :P).

Those are, from what I typically observe, the best designed hacks around at the current time, so you should check those out.

I'll give a brief description of each of those:

SMW2+3: The Essence Star: The Demo: That's my hack, and it's just so totally awesome! :D

Seriously though, my hack combines platformer levels with several RPG elements, such as an involved storyline, many interactive characters, side missions, and minigames. I'd say it's the Super Paper Mario of SMW hacks ;).

Brutal Mario: While the level design and graphical choices may not be the best, you may be thoroughly impressed with the advancements the author made here.

The Second Reality Project Reloaded: A remake of an older hack with new graphics and overworld. While this may be the least advanced of these five hacks, it has very good level design and a great, consistent graphical style that's easy on the eyes.

Mario's Keytastrophe: This is a more puzzle-based SMW hack. Instead of finding the goal in each level, you must find a key and track down the keyhole in each level, which is no simple task! To find these, you must solve plenty of action-based puzzles within the level.

Goombario's World: Haven't played this one, actually.
I recommend playing TSRPR and TSRP2 both in the featured hacks section. TSRPR is actually in the top 5.
Thanks for all your contributions guys!

I was looking at the recent hacks on the homepage and I came across Mario X World Bowser's Strike Back(Although isn't is supposed to be Bowser Sreikes Back!?)..I tried the first level...AMAZING! I think i will try this one first, then the rest of the series, and at the same time play SMW2+3(which I have played before but I deleted the savestate because I am silly) because it's a demo, then TKO, again cos it's a demo, then TSRP and then TSRP2:ZC. I'm not sure about the rest after that: could I have more suggestions for the next 10 or so hacks please? I have already completed Mario Is Missing 2, the unworld, and Super Mario Infinity 1. There all amazing, especially the unworld- so many exits!

I would recommend The New Mario World (it's in the hacks section), and if you're into harder hacks, then Cool or Cruel is absolutely mind blowing. It can be found in the Kaizo hack submissions thread.
